As trailers, PSA’s or featurettes come close to airing, they need to be classified equal or less than the film or item they precede. The Alberta Film Ratings site is notorious for posting these classifications publicly, which can provide some insight into when to expect some of these items to hit the air.
One of the latest items to be classified, is entitled G.I. Joe: Retaliation Featurette, and it appears on the site with a PG rating and clocking in at just under four minutes. The content of the featurette itself is unknown, but this site has pretty close to 100% reliability when it comes to predicting these things.
Thanks to the Daily Blam for reporting that the French trailer for upcoming G.I. Joe motion picture sequel actually has some NEW footage, and some impressive new footage to boot! Great close up of the Ripsaw Tank, an extended scene with Cobra Commander and the President… WOW.
That 10 second snippet from Entertainment Tonight last night barely qualified as a “teaser”, but Jon Chu brings great news to the table! That’s right, you don’t have to wait for Super Bowl Sunday to see the new trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation. According to Chu, the trailer will debut on iTunes/Apple trailers TODAY.
A specific time was not given, but trust me, GeneralsJoes will be all over this one. Can’t WAIT!
Kudos to BCYOJOE as usual over at HissTank for being on top of the trailer information. He reported a couple of weeks ago that Alberta Film Ratings posted some information about the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer, including the length of the trailer (2.25 minutes) and the fact that it’s rated PG.
This information did create a minor poopstorm amongst the fandom, who at first were concerned that perhaps the PG Rating reflected the film instead of the trailer. Thankfully, Jon Chu took to Twitter quickly to debunk that.
Well, now, Dark Horizons, a very well established film site, has posted a story stating that a number of “Big 2012 trailers” are hitting “imminently” and that list includes G.I. Joe: Retaliation! They say they could hit either online or in cinema, and one has to wonder with another Paramount feature Mission: Impossible IV hitting theaters, could that mean the Joe trailer is attached to that?
We don’t know for sure, but however the trailer is due to come out, looks like it is hitting long before the assumed Super Bowl spot.
Do I even need to repeat how excited this news makes me? I think not. I’ll just be over here jumping up and down frantically in the corner.
For better or worse, another new trailer/TV spot has emerged from Latino Review for the upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA. I say for better or worse, because while the action still looks frenetic, high-paced, and awesome, we get a clear indication of what to expect from Ripcord here…I’m all for comedy relief, but not bad comedy relief. Ah, well…
Still, the trailer is fun. Check it out via Latino Review or via the YouTube embedded video below:
Thanks to Hiss Commander from the Terror Drome for the heads up!
