Resolute seems to have really captivated the fandom, and I can’t blame them…while the story wasn’t perfect, the character designs pretty nearly were, and the vast cast of characters drew in Joe fans from all era’s. If there are any questions I see throughout the online fandom, they mostly center around Resolute. “Was this character in the show?” “Is this character being made into a figure?” “What assortment was that figure from?”
Well, with this new Characters SuperPage, I’m attempting to provide a resource for all of this information. I’ve broken down every single character who appeared in G.I. Joe: Resolute, and provided screencaps for that character from the feature, information about toy releases, and my own insight about whether or not we should expect to see a toy in the future. I’ve got screen grabs from the cartoon, pictures of the figures (both released and unreleased) and about as much information on the Resolute cast of characters that you’ll find anywhere online.
Check it out right here, and as always, please let me know if there’s anything you’re interested in seeing. This took me a looooong time, and forced me to rewatch Resolute several times over the past week (I know, poor me… ) but I’m hoping the end result is worth it and helps out the fans.
Rulz over at HissTank adds two more Battle Stations to his COBRA Surveillance Port and has posted some very nice pictorials with a few details that we may not have seen. This time around, he showcases the Outpost Defender w/ Roadblock and Tripwire as well as the Laser Artillary Weapon with General Hawk and Grand Slam.
Once again I feel like these miss the boat a bit. It’s great seeing the Resolute Roadblock, but those colors are pretty horrible. The mustard yellow and strange hybrid desert camouflage just doesn’t really work to me. Tripwire looks okay, but he looks a lot like Grand Slam, only with some tiger stripes slapped on. They seem pretty random, and he doesn’t come close to matching the actual Tiger Force version of the character, so I’m not entirely sure why they’re there.
I absolutely love the single pack General Hawk, so it’s cool to see him here with green camouflage legs, but did we really need yet another Grand Slam on the shelves at the same time as the Target exclusive version? The guy got two versions in twenty-five years, and now we’re working on his fourth in two years, and his second in a matter of weeks. What really stinks is none of them really looks that different from another…except for the fact that they have different heads. Odd.
The Battle Stations themselves look okay…I really like the sandbags and the overall look of the Outpost Defender, and the LAW is actually growing on me somewhat, but neither of them really screams “Buy Me!” at the $18.00 price tag. Check out the mirrored images below.
AdultSwim.com has posted the final (11th) installment of G.I. Joe: Resolute in great quality! For folks monkeying with YouTube (or other unsavory places online ) trying to figure out the best way to watch this, just go straight to the source.
For people who want to watch the full run, too, click on the first installment and hit that little button below the video that says “Continuous Play” and each episode will play one right after the other. Check out the video here.
We’ve all seen the Wal-Mart product listing, and we’ve heard the rumors, and even seen the bootleg images, but for the first time, actually pictures of the carded 2-packs coming for Wal-Mart have emerged on HissTank.com.
The fans were very concerned about upcoming movie product, as they were worried it would push aside their beloved vintage homages, but it would appear at least some of those fears were unfounded. Between the upcoming Armored Panther w/ Thunder, the RHINO w/ Rampage, the vehicle packs, and the 7-Packs, it would appear even the most ardant vintage fans will have plenty of product to choose from. These 2-packs are offering even more nice items with some great looking Night Force homages as well as a Resolute Gung Ho.
Black Sheep Toy Store has expanded his stock from Rise of COBRA to Resolute and Defense of COBRA Island as he added a wealth of potentially upcoming figures to his eBay store. Many of the items seen at HissTank a few days ago are now up for auction with nice, big pictures. Of course those images will be mirrored below.
Check out the G.I. Joe section of his eBay store here.
After what seems like forever, G.I. Joe: Resolute will wrap up its long and rocky road tonight, one way or another. Airing on Adult Swim tonight at midnight as a full 60 minute feature, AdultSwim.com promises the episodes will be online shortly thereafter.
The final ten minutes aired on Teletoon in Canada last night, and of course, the footage has already made the YouTube rounds. To avoid spoilers, I’ll embed the video after the break.
Honestly, the finale didn’t rock my world. I always had a suspicion that the 60 minute time limit and “short burst” episodes might end up hurting the “flow”, and I think I was right. The final culmination of this story didn’t feel very final, and didn’t have a real “impact”, and I think most of that is due to the limitations of episode length.
Still, I’m thrilled to finally see the series air in its entirety, and best of all, this animated feature has led the way to some fantastic looking toys. At any rate, watch Adult Swim tonight, check out adultswim.com on Monday, show your support for Resolute! Do whatever you need to do… write your congressman, harass Hasbro, pester Cartoon Network. Let them know how much you loved Resolute and how much you demand to see more. It wouldn’t hurt to watch the footage on Adult Swim.com a few thousand times as well.
Wow. HissTank is scoring a coup today with a bunch of great pictures of some upcoming items including some never-seen-before Resolute themed action figures and some better images of Rise of COBRA figures we’ve seen before. Lots of gear is visible, and as always, the Resolute figures are absolutely blowing my mind. Check the links below for all of the picture goodness:
A random post by Smokescreen (from JBL and One-18th.com) prompted me to investigate, and it would appear that G.I. Joe: Resolute may initially air on Cartoon Network Friday, April 24th from 9:00pm – 10:00pm!
A post on JoeBattlelines by Smokescreen reported that his Comcast DVR showed the program available to record Friday, instead of the original Saturday airdate, and a short hop over to TVGuide.com confirms that it is listed on Cartoon Network’s schedule for Friday, April 24th from 9-10pm. Granted, Cartoon Network’s schedule doesn’t go out that far, and we still have no confirmation from Hasbro, so take this with a grain of salt, but upon first glance it certainly looks to me that Resolute will air on Cartoon Network April 24th from 9:00-10:00pm.
