City Strike Snake Eyes reviewed!! Night Adder, Kamakura, etc… as well

I’ve been getting a smattering of new assortments at my house coming here and there and have posted some reviews for your consumption!  The highlight is by far Snake Eyes (City Strike) so he gets top billing, but that’s not all that I’ve got posted.  I also slightly revamped the Rise of COBRA Review Page because I wasn’t especially happy with the layout.  Check out the reviews below!

  1. Snake Eyes (City Strike)
  2. Kamakura
  3. Night Adder
  4. Red Fang Ninja

Is City Strike Snake Eyes as good as everyone thinks he is?  Yes, yes he is.

Rise of COBRA Wave 4 Pictorial Reviews at Terror Drome

The Terror Drome continues its impressive streak if pictorial reviews for recently released Rise of COBRA toys with 4 out of the 5 figures from Wave 4!  These are just hitting retail now, only having been spotted in select Toys “R” Us across the country.  Every figure except for the Nano-Viper is featured.

I’ve also hosted a number of the great images below.

The winner of this wave is far and away, the Night Adder.  Love the tats (COBRA La!  Sweet!), love the use of the Roadblock tooling, and just love the overall attitude.  He could definitely give Croc Master a run for his money.  But I especially love the new characters and new “history” we’re seeing woven into the movie line, too.  It’s like the “glory days” of Spy Troops and Valor Vs. Venom all over again.  I know there aren’t many fans out there who would consider the new sculpt age as the “Glory Days” but for those of us who value story and characters as highly as great toys, those were cool times.  We were seeing NEW G.I. Joe history written on a daily basis, and getting new things to incorporate into our Joe universe, and I feel the same way here.  It doesn’t hurt that the toys are really kick ass as well.

Still not sold on Charbroil.  He actually looks a bit cooler to me without the Blowtorch vest, but overall kind of a “bleh” figure.  Kamakura rocks my world, too.  I actually really like his short stature, too, it accentuates the “apprentice” angle, making him look quite a bit younger than a lot of the other Joes.  Red Fang Ninja is hit or miss.  I like the idea, not crazy about the MARS Trooper base figure for a ninja (especially one that’s supposed to be freelance), but the use of the Resolute Trooper head sculpt and the Comic Pack Storm Shadow webgear is pretty interesting.

All in all, a repaint heavy wave, yet still some nice new elements, just like Wave 5.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m itching for some really new stuff when the Pursuit of COBRA comes, but considering the techniques, I think we’re getting some very neat stuff even with the repaints.

Wave 4 and Wave 3 variants are hitting retail at Toys “R” Us!

Paul Ernst from the Fighting 118th has reported that Rise of COBRA Wave 4 as well as the Wave 3 “The Doctor” and “Arctic Storm Shadow” variants have hit retail at his local Toys “R” Us in California!  He also posted images, which I’ve mirrored below.  The hunt continues…

G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA Wave 4 coming soon at HasbroToyShop

HasbroToyShop’s G.I. Joe section has posted “Coming Soon” links for the upcoming Wave 4 G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA action figures.  Check out the links below…these items are not currently in stock, but looks like they could be coming very soon!  In fact, the estimated arrival date on the site is September 14th.

Even with a lot of reused parts, this is a pretty neat looking wave.  Some new characters, some new ideas, and figures to look forward to.  I especially dig Night Adder, that is one sick looking COBRA security guard!  Thanks to The Terror Drome for the info, and don’t forget to use the gijoe10 code for 10% off!

Some updated G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA Product Images

Yet more figure news out of HissTank this morning as they’ve gotten their hands on some product images for upcoming G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA action figures.  These are thought to be from Wave 4, but that’s not known for certain.  Shown in the mirrored gallery below are:

  • Charbroil
  • The Doctor (White Labcoat)
  • Nano-Viper
  • Kamakura
  • Night Adder
  • Red Fang Ninja

Check out the original thread here, and take a peek at the images below.

A ton of reused parts and pieces…lots of Resolute Duke and Blowtorch for Charbroil…Nano-Viper is a straight up Viper Commando repaint.  Kamakura is pretty much all repainted parts.  Night Adder has Resolute Roadblock’s body and vest, though he has a new head.  Even the Red Fang Ninja looks to have the RoC Viper body, and maybe just a Resolute Trooper head with sunglasses.  They are mixing them up well, and the result is decent, but they’ve definitely got this formula down.

Even more SanDiego ComicCon news from HissTank

Well, not a whole lot of new news, per se, but some nicely clear images of figures we knew were on the horizon.  During SDCC, they gave out a G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA catalog, and HissTank’s got some nice images of what was shown inside, including clear pictures of:

  • Kamakura
  • Nano-Viper
  • Night Adder
  • Red Fang Ninja

Also an image of an upcoming Ninja Battles Scene Pack is shown as well, with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow repaints packaged with the Valor Vs. Venom Arashikage Temple playset.  Some cool stuff.  Check the mirrored images below.

Also shown at SDCC were images of some more upcoming 12″ product including:

  • Destro
  • Hawk
  • Heavy Duty
  • Duke (Reactive Armor)

My thoughts on this stuff (well, the 4 inch stuff, anyway) are pretty positive.  A lot of remixed parts, but remixed in a GREAT way.  Anyone who reads my diatribes knows that I love new characters, so with Night Adder and Red Fang Ninja (did I actually call him Red CLAW Ninja last night?  Oops…) I’ve loving what I’m seeing.  The fact that Night Adder uses Resolute Roadblock’s tooling is icing on the cake.  Some great stuff to look forward to, hopefully we get some nice, clear pics of the product shots in the next few days.
