Metal Gear Solid film gets a writer

It’s tough to imagine Metal Gear Solid as a film really evolving beyond the video game, because the video game universe itself is so cinematic. Really beyond pluggin in actual actors to CGI, how can they make the video game any more of a film than it already is?

That being said, the Metal Gear world remains one of my all time favorite video game universes, and I won’t lie, the prospect of a big budget film gets me a bit amped up, even if I can’t quite conceive of how it would improve what already exists.

As a film project, Metal Gear Solid has been in limbo for a long time, but Sony appears to have found a writer in the form of Jay Basu. He doesn’t have a long and established resume as of yet, but seems to be in demand by Hollywood.

The film is being produced by Avi and Ari Arad, so there appears to be some substance to this. We’ll see how it all pans out.

Addendum posted to Revoltech “Revolmini” Solid Snake review

I posted my review of the recently released Revoltech “Revolmini” Solid Snake a couple of weeks ago, but admittedly I wasn’t really sure exactly what the curiously shaped white object that came with the figure was.

Well, within moments of posting the review, I was thoroughly educated, and I’ve posted some new images and details in the Revolmini Review.

Essentially you can take off Solid Snake’s face and use the tool to change his eyes.

Yes, you read that right.  You can take off Solid Snake’s face.  Totally not creepy.

Actually, yeah, it’s pretty creepy.  Check out the review right here, but don’t look too long at Snake’s faceless husk, it’ll haunt your dreams.

GeneralsJoes Reviews Revolmini “Micro” Solid Snake

Many folks have been waiting and watching for information about the Revolmini line, which promises a new take on some familiar characters, in a scale closely matching what most G.I. Joe fans love.

Just last week, Big Bad Toy Store got the first Micro figure in stock, and it’s non other than Metal Gear Solid’s main protagonist, Solid Snake, a fact that made me quite happy.  Needless to say, I bought it, and I’ve now posted a review in my Miscellaneous Reviews section.

Metal Gear Solid fans – Revoltech Micro Solid Snake now in stock at BBTS!

It doesn’t seem like a stretch that Metal Gear and G.I. Joe go together like chocolate and peanut butter. They both involve covert military operatives, future-infused technology, and a healthy dose of crazed personalities with pseudo-supernatural abilities. I’ve often said the perfect G.I. Joe video game for me would be one strongly influenced by Metal Gear.

I’ve seen countless Sold Snake customs throughout the years, and as the great parts library has grown and evolved, those customs have gotten better and better. But perhaps we’re finally at a place where we can own a (relatively) G.I. Joe scale Solid Snake without customizing?!

Revoltech has just released a “Micro” Solid Snake figure, which stands a hair over 4″ tall. That means it’s not quite 100% within G.I. Joe scale, but I believe it works well enough for most collectors and display folks. You can find it at Big Bad Toy Store in stock now!

YouTube Toy Review Pharaoh Black has posted a pretty comprehensive review of the figure, including some nice size comparisons. Check out the review below as well. I’ve just ordered one myself, expect a full review shortly!
