G.I. Joe Kre-O Continues its rampage of Toys “R” Us

Along with the blockbuster news of a G.I. Joe 50th Anniversary series of 2 Packs, 3 Packs, and Vehicle Packs, Hasbro also confirmed that G.I. Joe Kre-O would continue at Toys “R” Us this year.  And not just continue, but explode!

We are getting 24 new mini figures, as well as a Cobra Terror Drome with 856 pieces and SIX Kre-Ons!

The new mini figures include Nunchuk Atomi Man, Scrap Iron, Lowlight, Doc, Night Creeper, Torch, Budo, Nemesis (Enforcer?!), Zartan, Snow Serpent, Cobra Eel, and Chuckles (among others).

Information has been pouring in from Twitter, Toy News International, and HISSTank.com.

Hasbro customer service site reveals some odd G.I. Joe related things

Okay, first and foremost, take this with a large grain of salt, as these random Internet listings can sometimes cause more questions than answers, and I think that certainly holds true in this case.

Over on the Fighting 118th someone has dug up some listings from a Hasbro Customer Service website, and within those listings there are a score of questionable listings which may or may not indicate potential new items.

The first thing I want to point out is the existence of a couple of new Kre-O items!  I think this is probably the most likely positive outcome that we see here.  A screenshot reveals the G.I. Joe Wolverine vs. Cobra Firebat (which matches up with a Toys “R” Us Listing we’ve seen previously)…most exciting thing there is probably the “Cobra Terror Drome”.  Wowza.  Even a Kre-O one has the potential to be a lot of fun.

Now for the other stuff…  there’s a lot to talk about here, but I think it’s important that we all keep this in perspective.  I would say the vast majority of listings that appear in these screen shots could be explained away as old items or unreleased items.  I see lots of stuff (Ultimate Gift Set from Target, Mindbender vs. Budo, an unreleased item from the Rise of Cobra, Desert Gift Set, the TRU exclusive from RoC) we know as being previously released or unreleased.  Obviously there are some other things as well, like Zombie 2-Packs that we do not know anything about yet.  But I think it’s important that folks put the brakes on a bit before getting too fired up.

Let’s think about this… this is the 50th Anniversary of G.I. Joe.  Do we think that the 50th Anniversary is going to be celebrated by a line of Zombie 2-Packs?  Hrmm… I don’t know.

I certainly think we can file these away, and big props to Fighting 118th for digging this up, but I think we’d all do ourselves a favor if we hold off on any major celebrations or proclamations until Toy Fair in February.  Until then, though, we can all speculate, it will definitely be interesting to see how this shapes up next year.
