My fascination for Hot Toys was initially sparked by their G.I. Joe: Retaliation releases, but it has started to spill over into Marvel cinematic product as well. I don’t own many of them, but the few that I do are some of my most treasured items. The sculpting and detail work, not to mention the actor likenesses and the craftsmanship of the clothing are second to none.
Over on their Facebook Page, Hot Toys has revealed some product images from bloggers who already have the Days of Future Past Wolverine 1:6th scale figure in hand, and these images are simply mind blowing.
I’ve mirrored a handful below, but you can find much more over on Facebook, and if you dig the looks of this figure as much as I do, hit up the Pre-Order on Sideshow Collectibles. Wow.
Anyone who pre-ordered the Hot Toys 12″ G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock figure has likely already gotten their shipping notice, but if you haven’t for some reason, expect it soon! Mine is slated to arrive on Thursday, and I’m pretty fired up for it.
Meanwhile, HotToys.com has posted a plethora of new images of the upcoming figure, and even a YouTube video showing how to change his uniform! Anyone who has messed with these intricate 12″ figures before knows the challenge involved in doing that, so check it out, it might be helpful.
You can still order your very own G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock from Sideshow Collectibles! Click the banner below to order, and then check out the mirrored images and embedded video below.
Quite awhile ago, we had the unique opportunity to interview a couple of the guys from the Hot Toys Podcast, and while it took us a little while to get this posted (apologies Jim and Eamon) with G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock on the precipice of release, it seems apt to get this out there now.
Along with talking with those fine folks, we cover all of the G.I. Joe news and information, and even touch on the big “NO JOES in 2014” topic that seems to be rearing it’s ugly head over the past week.
As always, hit up Podbean or check out the embedded player below, and show notes are after the jump.
Throughout the release process, Hot Toys typically releases a series of images taken by bloggers who have had direct access to their action figure releases, and this holds true with their upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock figure release. The Hot Toys Facebook page has unloaded with well over seventy images of G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock and some of these pictures are blowing me away.
This figure, without a doubt, looks to be the flagship of the Hot Toys G.I. Joe: Retaliation line, with layered body armor, different shirts, a fully functional Battle Kata weapons system, as well as the M249 SAW and deadly movie accurate uniform. The face sculpt does look just a bit hit or miss in my opinion, but soup to nuts this representation of Roadblock is spectacular.
I got my first introduction to the marvelous world of Hot Toys a few short weeks ago when I reviewed G.I. Joe: Retaliation Snake Eyes, and was pretty much blown away. So now that I have experience with this company, would the second figure have as much impact as the first?
Let’s face it… you’ve always wanted a 12″ Bruce Willis action figure. Well, now you get that wish, and not only is it a 12″ Bruce Willis, but it’s a Hot Toys Bruce Willis, and it has some G.I. Joe ties! You can’t go wrong with that. This “Summer Toy Fairs” exclusive figure for G.I. Joe: Retaliation Joe Colton will not last long, so don’t wait… pre-order that bad boy right now!
Yes, I said frightening. Like a downright weirdly accurate miniature Bruce Willis glaring at me kind of frightening.
Yeah, I’m buying this figure as soon as I possibly can.
Over on One Sixth Republic, they’ve linked to a post by “MAX” on ToysDaily which features several in hand images of the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation Joe Colton figure, and it looks amazing. Some of those close ups of his face sculpt are just astoundingly good. Whatever Hot Toys pays their sculptors and paint application specialists, it’s not enough.
The figure is listed as being a “Summer Toy Fair” exclusive, which means we should see it up for pre-order on Sideshow Collectibles pretty much any time now. Keep your eyes open… until then, simply be content to look into those deep blue wells of Bruce Willis himself in the images below. Oh, Bruce…
The gap in product over the past few months has created a double-edged sword…on the one side, it’s a bit of a bummer that only a scant handful of new G.I. Joe product has been available at mass retail throughout 2013 to date. But on the other hand, it has freed up some income for some other purchases that might not have been made if the movie product had hit hard and heavy.
I couldn’t be happier that I was able to make some room in my bank account to support a new found Hot Toys habit. I’m just simultaneously disappointed (and relieved) that it took me this long to discover them.
Notices have started going out informing pre-order customers that Hot Toys G.I. Joe: Retaliation Storm Shadow orders are processing, and now we have our first production level images of this beautiful upcoming figure. Some added details are revealed in these images, including what looks to be a wireframe insert into the trenchcoat so it can be posed in different directions…or perhaps that’s just creative photography?
Either way, these images are fantastic.
They all come courtesy of bloggers throughout the web, and hosted on the Hot Toys Facebook Page. Check that page for all of the images, but I’ve mirrored some of them below.
I know, drought is probably an exaggeration, considering FSS 1.0 shipments just came a week or two ago, but the fact remains that there doesn’t seem to be much G.I. Joe related enthusiasm out in the larger geek world these days. Meanwhile, the Hot Toys G.I. Joe: Retaliation Snake Eyes is on the verge of release domestically, and the Hot Toys Facebook page has posted some 75 images from various Asian bloggers.
Amazing doesn’t even begin to cover this figure. It looks like Ray Park got hit by a shrink ray. I’ve never owned a Hot Toys product before, and I’ve been told that this figure will probably change my life forever…time will tell (yes I have one on pre-order), but until then, soak in some of these images. This thing looks incredible. Check out all of the images on the Hot Toys Facebook page, and I’ve also mirrored some of the images below.
