When it rains it pours! After a few short months of bare bones releases, the relative flood of G.I. Joe product has hit us over the past several weeks. This includes the now immortal Wave 3 (or 3.5 depending how you look at it) as well as some great new Kre-O products.
I’ve already reviewed the Ghoststriker X-16, and thoroughly enjoyed it. and now up to the plate is the second wave of Kre-On mini figures.
You can immediately tell that there is a great focus on character and design with these blind bag sets, especially in the second wave of mini figures. Check out my G.I. Joe Kre-O Review page, or click the link below to go directly to the review.
So last week I had posted links to some major site reviews for the G.I. Joe: Retaliation film… but as a G.I. Joe fan, shouldn’t we care more about what fellow G.I. Joe fans think? Aren’t our peers even more important than the main stream critics?
To that end, I’m stealing a page from JoeBattleLines’ book and posting some links to other community sites that have posted reviews of G.I. Joe: Retaliation. It’s a great exercise to cruise around the web and see what others thought. In many cases the reviews match mine, but in some cases they certainly do not. Check them out below:
Pretty neat to see what other fans think of the film… certainly more opinions to come!
First of all, a big thanks to Chief over at JoeCustoms.com for the Cobra Commander hook up! I was running towards the end of this daily review trend leading up to G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and this figure arrived just in the nick of time! Then my hands were so jittery from the excitement of seeing G.I. Joe: Retaliation tonight I could barely type.
Oh, the humanity!
Regardless, the review is done and posted in the 30th Anniversary section, or you can hit the direct link below. Thus wraps up my Discount Store “Running Change” versions of these figures. NEXT!
Continuing on the G.I. Joe: Retaliation review marathon, today I finish up my Wave 2 reviews with none other than the Cobra Saboteur, Firefly! The only Firefly figure being released complete with Ray Stevenson’s noggin, he also comes complete with a florescent green jacket and semi-transparent arms! Considering how much I love my 90’s Joes, this was a bonus, not a detraction.

As March, 2013 nears we can expect G.I. Joe: Retaliation figures to start hitting harder and heavier. Wave 2 has just started blasting across the country, and I’ve begun the review process. First up in the second wave is Storm Shadow.
Not the most auspicious beginning to the Wave 2 reviews, but for better or worse, you can check him out at the G.I. Joe: Retaliation review page, or linked below.
Well, here it is…the last of my “First Looks”… I am officially sad. My experience with this sampling of figures has been very enlightening, and I really want to thank Gyre Vipre for giving me the opportunity to reveal these figures.
There’s been a lot of great stuff (Red Ninja, Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, most of Roadblock) but also some concerns as well, and I think this is likely indicative of the Retaliation line itself. Lots of ninja elements, but some very cool modern military elements, too, and I look forward to both.
Bring on May, and bring on a full blown G.I. Joe: Retaliation toy onslaught. I’m ready!
Until then, check out my G.I. Joe: Retaliation Review Page, or just click the link below for the last installment in my weeklong “First Look” segment. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.
