Announcement for Rank & File Book at JoeCon – Exclusive Images!

Yesterday I posted about James Kavanaugh’s  upcoming G.I. Joe reference guide, covering the beginning of the modern era. James has kindly provided GeneralsJoes with some exclusive images from that book as well as some clarification about how the release volumes will be scheduled.

Check out the images below, and the press release is included as well.

The adventure has evolved in Rank & File — A Guide to Third-Generation 4” G.I. Joe Action Figures!

After a brief hiatus in 2006 that allowed G.I. Joe to flourish in other areas, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero went in a new stylistic direction that is still predominately used today!  Not only did fans get to revisit some of their most cherished icons within the G.I. Joe mythos, they were also introduced to new characters that are now known and loved.

The Rank & File Guide v1 is the introductory volume in a series guides that fully display every G.I. Joe action figure produced between the 25th Anniversary and today, complete with every accessory and variation produced.   Volume 1 begins with an introduction to G.I. Joe, discussing its 1964 origins all the way up to the Real American Hero line in its first two generations.  Then the guide fully explores the 25th Anniversary and Resolute series of 4″ action figures. Not only are the accessories shown, they were carefully cataloged in an upcoming section to guarantee the proper shade of accessory goes to the appropriate action figure. To top it off, every vehicle and play set released in the 4″ era was documented and every easily removable piece was individually photographed, ensuring collector completion.

This full color, 52-page resource manual beautifully illustrates the two series’ 275 action figures, 29 vehicles and every accessory, including all known variations. Not only is every accessory present and accounted for, they have each been assigned a unique number and identified throughout the resource guide.  Each action figure was carefully examined between its initial run and any further re-releases to ensure that an accurate sample is clearly and concisely presented, perfect for the collector who is identifying individual action figures or sorting through unorganized lots.

Whether you are a seasoned or rejuvenated collector, enthusiast, or toy vendor, the Rank & File Guide is the decisive compilation for G.I. Joe action figures, vehicles and play sets produced between 2007 to today.    Let the Rank & File Guide serve as a reference for completion or a scrapbook to the next big turning point of G.I. Joe:  A Real American Hero.

Basic Information

The MSRP for The Rank & File Guide Volume 1 is $20.  Volume 1 will be first available at Joe Con in Springfield, IL and available to purchase online after the show at www.rahcguide.com.  Buyer will pay all additional shipping and handling costs.  If you have purchased the R.A.H.C. Guide, the process will be very similar.   This guide was self published and produced in quantities reflecting the R.A.H.C. Guide’s sales so do not hesitate in ordering if owning a guide is a priority. You can join the mailing list at: rahc.guide@gmail.com and like on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/RAHCGuide to get the latest updates between press releases.

In order to get content to the fans as quickly as possible, the decision was made to divide the series up into, as of this announcement, up to six volumes.  They working divisions are as follows:

  • Volume 1:  Introduction, 25th Anniversary, Resolute
  • Volume 2:  The Rise of Cobra, Pursuit of Cobra
  • Volume 3: Celebrating 30 Years of A Real American Hero / Renegades, Retaliation, Basic G.I. Joe Asst., 50 (should include 2015 figures and possibly beyond).
  • Volume 4:  Convention Exclusives, G.I. Joe Collector’s Club (up to at least 2015)
  • Volume 5:  Complete and organized Accessories section comprised of Volumes 1 through 4

Heartbreaking essay recalls the life — and death — of G.I. Joe artist Jeremy Dale

Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ve held a copy of Jeremy Dale’s work in your hands. As one of the primary artists of the 25th Anniversary Comic Pack comics, Dale left his legacy on the G.I. Joe world, putting Hama’s words to pictures throughout several comic pack-ins during the 25th Anniversary line.

Mr. Dale unexpectedly passed away several months ago, leaving the comics community in stunned silence.

Not many details have been revealed about his untimely death, but now, one of his closest friends, Joe Peacock has written an emotional essay about the common flu that quickly became uncommon and took his friend far too soon.

Check out the essay on Medium.com.

Also, this weekend at South Carolina ComicCon, we will be paying tribute to the life and work of Jeremy Dale with a Drink and Draw on Saturday, March 21, from 7PM until whenever at Quest Brewing Company. Whether or not you can draw, you can most certainly drink. Come on out and celebrate with them.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals another Convention figure!

And this time it’s Stormavik!

Yet another great looking member of the Oktober Guard, the Club has shown that they are pulling out the stops for these figures.  Stormavik has a new head sculpt and some nicely stacked up body mold, using the legs from Shadow Tracker and the arms from City Strike Destro.  Wow.  He’s definitely tweaked for a more modern update, and it looks pretty friggen great.  The Pursuit of Cobra Duke webgear suits the figure exceptionally well, too.

Check out GIJoeCon.com for the lowdown and I’ve got the awesome image mirrored below.  This set is looking better and better every day!

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Membership Figures are IN THE MAIL!!

Well isn’t this a fine Friday morning surprise?

An email received from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals that they have started shipping their membership exclusive figures for 2012!  For us 3 3/4″ Real American Hero fans, that means Footloose should be in hand within the next few weeks!  Woo hoo!

The letter also provides some instructions for renewing memberships within the new Club online store system.  Check out the full email below!

Here are the latest updates from the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club:

SURPRISE! This week we started mailing the FREE membership figures for 2012!  We were able to get these manufactured much earlier this year, so off they go to you!  It will take several weeks for them to reach all of the membership, so please be patient.  If you don’t receive your figure by the end of May, please let us know.

In your April issue of the Club Magazine, you will find a letter that offers:  credit card fraud counseling; instructions on how to place a credit alert on your accounts; and a free one-year subscription to a Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft Recovery Service that we have purchased on your behalf.

If you have received any evidence of fraud on your credit cards, please call and make a report with the 800 number listed in the letter for the recovery services.

If you desire to take advantage of the Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft Recovery Service, your letter contains an individually assigned certificate number that will allow you to activate the service.  Do not share this certificate number with anyone as it is a one-time use certificate.  In addition, you will need to activate your service by June 15, 2012.  This service will last for 12 months once you activate it.  Again, we apologize for any issues this problem has caused our membership.

Please note that your Club Magazine will be approximately 2 weeks later than normal as we wanted to give you time to check your mailing addresses in the new Club Store before we used it for the first mailing.  You should receive your issue by May 4th. Please contact us after that date if you have not received your magazine.

Next week we will have the memberships back in the store.  If you need to renew, all you have to do is put a credit card on file before your billing date (see My Account when you log in).  The system will bill your renewal on that date.  If you expire, you will need to go to the store, select the membership of your choice and check out.  Then you will start again with the next mailing.

Finally, we are still working on getting all of our software and process back to normal.  We hope to have registration available for G.I. Joe Con soon.  We will send out an email when this is online.

Thanks for your support!

Brian

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club adds more full page card art to the gallery

Over on Facebook, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club continues to update the waiting fandom, this time with more images of full card art from the upcoming FSS (Figure Subscription Service).  They have added a number of new art pieces, including TNT, Tan Grunt, Dice, Cover Girl, and Topside.  Heck there might be something else new there, too, I’m starting to lose track!

To avoid missing anything I am mirroring every piece of full card art we’ve seen to date down below.  Check them out and enjoy!

Also remember to keep tuned to the Collectors Club on Facebook, Twitter, and at GIJoeClub.com.

Armored HISS Canopy available from Yetibrew Design

I’ve been talking about Yetibrew Design and Shapeways for a while at this point, and I’m going to keep talking about them for a little while longer, because they’ve just completed their work on the much talked about Armored HISS Canopy!

If anyone has had any complaints about the HISS it’s that the driver is pretty vulnerable up there in the cockpit with only a slim piece of glass protecting him from enemy fire.  Well, NO LONGER.

Thanks to the awesome 3D Printing abilities of Shapeways, Yetibrew Designs has created an armored HISS Canopy to better protect your precious HISS Drivers as they launch into battle.

As of this posting, he only has the canopies designed to fit the 25th Anniversary style of HISS Tank, but he is working on the vintage ones as we speak.  Check out the mirrored images below and follow the link to get your own!

The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club reveals more FSS art and promises Jinx close up

Continuing their week long trend, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has revealed more artwork for their upcoming Figure Subscription Service (FSS).  Late yesterday we got a teaser for the Tan Grunt artwork, and today the Club posted the full card art for Jinx.

Over on Facebook the Club also promised to show up close images of Jinx’s head sculpt, which I’m certainly looking forward to.  Check out the mirrored images below, and be sure to follow the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club on Twitter, or hit up GIJoeClub.com to stay up to date.
