Unreleased Comic Pack test shots continue to emerge

Mere days after the unreleased Training Snake Eyes was shown on JoeIntel, test shot maestro Gyre-Viper at has shown some pictures of the unreleased “Iron Klaw Trooper” that was initially slated to come with another wave of Comic Packs before the line shifted to a movie theme.  Check out the mirrored images below.

This…  is awesome.  From what I’ve seen there hasn’t been much unreleased stuff that has really made me sad that it won’t make it to retail.  Resolute stuff aside of course (which looks to be coming in a boxed set in 2010).  But this Iron Klaw Trooper?  Damn, man.  I love it.   I was a big fan of the Extreme universe, but the figures were horrible, it’s freaking great to see those characters worked into the Anniversary line, even with just a new head, beret, weapon, and webgear.  The base figure looks to be an Iron Grenadier Destro.  Regardless of all this, the figure is very cool, and I hope Hasbro finds some way to work this tooling into the Pursuit of COBRA line.  I really love the face sculpt and skull-themed webgear.  Very cool figure.

He also showcased some images from the upcoming Pursuit of COBRA Arctic Destro, which is another pretty neat one.  Those ice-cased accessories are pretty cool and the sculpt is great.  Check out those images below.

Ten things I didn’t like about G.I. Joe: Resolute

Okay, Resolute has aired in its entirety both through and on the station itself last night.  It promises to be fully online tomorrow, so show your support by watching it over and over again!  Now while I think the Resolute concept and the look of the show was pretty much my favorite rendition of G.I. Joe to date, it wasn’t perfect.  I’ll start off with the ten things I didn’t love, but have no fears, there will be an extensive list of things I loved as well.

Nightly News Recap – G.I. Joe: Resolute episodes 7 & 8 online at AdultSwim!

Right on schedule, has posted the latest two episodes of Resolute, episodes 7 & 8.  As always check them out at the Resolute video page here.

I am a bit curious, because the site says episodes 9 & 10 will be shown tomorrow, but I was under the impression that the last part wouldn’t air until it was aired on television…also thought the last part was a 10 minute finale.  Guess we’ll find out.  As far as I know, these aren’t YouTube’d yet, but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.

EDIT: Okay, I went back through my notes (yes I have notes from Joe conventions on my computer…I realize that’s sad), and the initial report was 10 5-minute episodes with a 10 minute finale for a total of 60 minutes.  So not only does that mean we get two more episodes tomorrow night, it means there are essentially two MORE episodes after that!  W00t!

We’re getting close to the finale…I’m excited, but bummed at the same time.  This has been an awesome ride, I don’t want it to end!  I know full well Hasbro has geared up to move on to the film stuff, I just hope this Resolute universe doesn’t just end up floating away.  It’s too cool to be treated like that.  We’ll see, I guess.

EDIT #2: The episodes have been YouTube’d!

That is the coolest minute thirty seconds of my life.  Direct link is here.

EDIT: For the International folks who can’t watch the Adult Swim vid, some enterprising soul has already posted this up on YouTube:

God I love the Internet.

Larger and better pictures of mystery figure from TaoBao

Earlier this morning, we posted an image from HissTank that looked to possibly be a COBRA Trooper, but the figure appears to have a Joe logo on his shoulder armor.  The identity of this figure and character is currently a mystery, however it is definitely based on the Resolute Firefly design.

Thanks to cmderinchief from Coil Club and JoeBattleLines, we’ve been able to gather down a pair of much larger, better pictures of this mystery figure, with and without the armor!  Check it out below:

Now compare that to an image of the Resolute Firefly:

There are at least a few distinct similarities there.  The lower “apron” has that same pouch on the belt, and the overall armor looks remarkably similar (although there are pouches rather than a strap).  It’s currently unknown who this character is, if he’s a Joe or a COBRA, but whoever the character is, this figure rocks my world!  It looks AWESOME.  Gotta love the Resolute.

Hasbro announces G.I. Joe Resolute! April 17th on

YES!  Finally the confirmation we’ve all been waiting for!  Hasbro has officially announced the debut of G.I. Joe: Resolute to Friday, April 17th on, to air on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim afterwards!  The full, official press release is below:

Episodes Of Highly Anticipated Series To Air Online Leading Up To Broadcast Finale On Adult Swim

PAWTUCKET, RI – April 15, 2009 – Hasbro announced today that G.I. Joe: Resolute, an adult fan oriented animated mini-series, will be broadcast via Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim on television as well as online.  Based on the classic G.I. JOE brand, Hasbro created 60 minutes of total content for this new story which will be presented as 11 episodes.

Beginning on April 17, fans will be able to see the first five minutes of the brand new, stand-alone animated mini-series on  These episodes are broken down to ten 5-minute episodes and one 10-minute finale.  Following the first episode on April 17, subsequent installments will be posted on the Adult Swim website leading up to a full presentation of the entire series.   This finale will be broadcast on Adult Swim April 25 at midnight.  This televised event will not only feature all episodes seen online, but will be the first time fans can watch the final 10 minutes of the G.I. Joe: Resolute saga.  All episodes, including the finale, will be available to view online after this airing.

Intended for the adult fan that grew up with the brand in the 80’s, G.I. Joe: Resolute received standing ovations at both the G.I. JOE Convention, “JoeCon,” and San Diego Comic-Con in 2008 where sample clips were previewed.  Since then, fans have eagerly been awaiting the announcement of air-dates for the series.

“In a very exciting year for the G.I. JOE brand, we’re thrilled to be able to bring the G.I. Joe: Resolute animated series to the adult G.I. JOE fan,” said Michael Verrecchia, Director of G.I. JOE Entertainment Marketing.  “Adult Swim is the perfect broadcast platform to deliver the series, which features a more sophisticated animation style and story than prior animation.”

Hasbro developed the animation with executive producer Sam Register as well as a powerhouse creative team at Titmouse Studios including Joaquim Dos Santos, a veteran animation director, who worked closely with award-winning comic writer Warren Ellis, who penned the entire series. This highly regarded team brings an edgy, intense feel to the series, which will feature the most popular characters in the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA canon.  Iconic characters such Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett and Roadblock will do battle with Cobra Commander, Destro, Baroness and Storm Shadow.

G.I. Joe: Resolute airs April 24th on TeleToon in Canada!

Further confirmation of the air date for G.I. Joe: Resolute comes from northerncrowe of who reports that Canadian television station TeleToon will air Resolute April 24th at 11:15pm!  He also reports that he has seen a new trailer with the following details:

“City being blown up (which we knew)
SE and SS fighting (which we could’ve guessed)
SE parachuting in and slicing a trooper (not the sword twist shot.)
Duke and Scarlett fighting back to back
Scarlett flipping and shooting like a John Woo film
The carrier getting shot up pretty bad
Zartan (pretty sure) shooting a missile gun thingy”

A quick visit to does not confirm this news, but it does show a strange repeat of Ultimate Avengers II at 11:15pm on the 24th.  Here’s hoping we get confirmation soon, or even better, let’s hope the trailer shows up online!  We’re getting closer!

Updated Resolute air date – April 24th 9:00pm on Cartoon Network!

A random post by Smokescreen (from JBL and prompted me to investigate, and it would appear that G.I. Joe: Resolute may initially air on Cartoon Network Friday, April 24th from 9:00pm – 10:00pm!

A post on JoeBattlelines by Smokescreen reported that his Comcast DVR showed the program available to record Friday, instead of the original Saturday airdate, and a short hop over to confirms that it is listed on Cartoon Network’s schedule for Friday, April 24th from 9-10pm.  Granted, Cartoon Network’s schedule doesn’t go out that far, and we still have no confirmation from Hasbro, so take this with a grain of salt, but upon first glance it certainly looks to me that Resolute will air on Cartoon Network April 24th from 9:00-10:00pm.
