Greg “Blizzard” Natale – FSS 8.0

Okay I have another confession, I really like arctic themed figures.  Just wanted to get that off my chest.  With that said the Collectors Club gave us our first look at Greg “Blizzard” Natale today.  It looks like the figure is using the FSS Scoop head and parts from the cancelled RoC Arctic Threat Duke.  I really like the way this figure came together.  Once again the Club stayed true to the original color scheme of the ’88 version.  If I had to nitpick anything it would be the fact that the helmet is not removable.  It would have been nice to get a removable helmet with the figure like the original version but I still think the figure really works and will look great with the rest of the arctic themed figures.  Head over to the GI Joe Collectors Club and get signed up before the May 2nd deadline.

(Inspired by the 1988 action figure.)

skis x 2, ski poles x 2, boot cleats x 2, and figure stand.

Another week another set of FSS reveals

Another week and another set of reveals from the Club.  This week the GI Joe Collectors Club unveiled Lt. Clay Moore and Lance “Clutch” Steinberg.  Lt. Clay Moore is based off the Sunbow Character from the episode The Traitor (Part II).  The Club also produced him as part of the 2007 “Tanks for the Memories” set.  I always enjoy seeing new characters that we really have not received from Hasbro so overall I enjoy this character.  I think the overall build of the character is good.  I have seen some complaints about the grenades being a little high on his neck and I echo those thoughts.  With that said I still feel he looks good and will look great leading the Cobra Shock Troops.

The second reveal we got this week was for Lance “Clutch” Steinberg.  The figure is based on the ’84 version and includes a removable helmet and work cones.  Released in ’84 as the driver of the VAMP the FSS version looks great and stays true to the original.  I have always been a fan of the VAMP and I can’t wait to see him paired up with his vehicle.

We currently sit half way through the reveals of FSS 8.0 and so far so good.  Most of the figures look pretty good and I can’t wait to see the rest of the reveals.  Make sure to head over to the Club website and sign up before May 2 to be part of FSS 8.0.

Python H.E.A.T. Viper

For the fourth figure reveal the GI Joe Club gives us the Python H.E.A.T. Viper.  With this reveal we now get the second army builder of the set.  It looks like it is a repaint of the 50th Anniversary H.E.A.T. Viper but of course this will get the Python Patrol deco.  The bright yellow torso is a little bold but I think this figure will look great with the rest of the Python Patrol figures standing next to them.  Can’t wait to see the rest of the set.

Some cool details about Con set design/production, courtesy of GIJCC

Along with the great information about FSS 3.0, the Collectors Club also showed us some great behind the scenes information about the design and execution of the 2014 G.I. Joe Convention set.  Included in this presentation was several slides with deco work on the convention exclusive figures, and even some great original Hasbro concepts for figures like Outback and the Steel Brigade Zombie.

Check out some great images at the YoJoe Photo Gallery, but also some of my hackneyed smart phone shots below!

G.I. Joe Collectors Club debuts Convention Exclusive Schrage!

And the hits just keep on coming!  Hot on the heels of their stellar reveal of the 2012 Convention Exclusive Daina figure, we now have the reveal of the equally awesome Schrage!

With another awesome new headsculpt, nearly perfect parts choices, and a fantastic accessory compliment, we are getting yet another home run in what looks to potentially be a landmark convention set.

Another interesting thing to note…  I’m not sure how many other fans have been wondering, but I was kind of curious if the Club would be dipping their toes into the “dead Oktober Guard” waters considering their comic book mythology seems to walk in line with the Marvel Universe.  Daina is still alive in the Marvel mythology, but Schrage is not!  This confirms that those characters are not off the table to the Club and reinforces the thoughts that we may just get a full compliment of modern era Oktober Guard characters.

UPDATE – When I say “full compliment” I’m talking about the original 6 members (Brekhov, Stormavik, Schrage, Daina, Horror Show & Dragonsky) and not really considering guys like Gorky, Misha, or even Wong.  Looking at the reveal page for the Con exclusives you see 6 empty spots for the Russians, so that seems in line with their thinking as well.

BAD. ASS.  Check out for details, and take a peek at the mirrored image below.  Absolute perfection.

GIJoeCon 2011 Television Advertisement

Time must be getting close, because we’re getting more JoeCon 2011 news by the day…and more constant reminders that I can’t make it this year…  bah.

Just because I’m wallowing in my own misery doesn’t mean you readers can’t appreciate the coverage and intel coming down the pipe!  Pete over at the G.I. Joe Collectors Club let us know that Hasbro has produced a TV ad that they plan to air in advance of JoeCon, and it has been posted to YouTube.

Check it out below!

Yes, I’m grumpy and irritated about not being able to attend, but many of my readers will probably like it better that way, because I can often provide deeper, better coverage from the comfort of my office chair.  You can bet that even if GeneralsJoes isn’t there in person, I will be there in spirit, and bringing the latest news, intel, and unwanted opinions to the site.

GI Joe Con 2011 Location and Dates Announced!

In a surprise email from the GI Joe Collectors’ Club, the location and dates of the 2011 G.I. Joe Convention have been revealed!  Here is the context of the email:

The 2011 International G.I. Joe Collectors’ Convention “G.I. Joe Con” will be held in Orlando, Florida, at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, March 31-April 3!  This is an outstanding property at an outstanding rate!  You will not want to miss this one.  Orlando will be perfect this time of year, so bring the whole family for this fun-filled weekend!

Make your hotel reservations now at

Convention registration will be available this fall.  Watch for our new online registration system!”

The last time JoeCon was in Orlando was for the 2004 convention, and it was a BLAST.  While I’m sure there will be some concern about the dates, hopefully no one will be upset about the location.  Time to start thinking on whether or not I can make it next year.

GIJoeCon 2010 Black Major REVEALED

Apparently when the Club sent out that email, they weren’t joking around!  The preview for the G.I. Joe 2010 Convention Exclusive Black Major is already online now!  As predicted, he contains a heavy influence of M Bison, and wow.  A very, very nice looking figure.  Nothing exceptionally fancy about it, but very true to the Red Shadows Nazi-type roots.  He looks evil and fits right in with the Red Shadows theme.  Love the overwhelming black of the figure, with just the right touches of red…and man, that Red Shadow logo looks great.

I definitely approve so far!  Keep your eyes on the GIJoeCon 2010 Preview Page for more preview images as they arrive!  I know I’m looking forward to it! SUPER SALE!

The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club is running a big time clearence sale trying to ship out some of their overstock and some of these prices are INSANE.  We’re talking full assortments of Anniversary figures for $3.00 per figure, formerly rare GIJCC Exclusives for bargain basement prices…  lots and LOTS of great deals to be had, especially for folks who are Officer level members!

Check out the “clearence aisle” here!
