G.I. Joe Collectors Club posts statement on release of FSS 6.0

Over on the G.I. Joe Collectors Club message board, the folks from Fun Pub have posted about the shipping date for FSS 6.0 as well as expectations for FSS 7.0.

It’s a quick little blurb but should give some idea on the timing of these releases.  If you’re a member of the Club check out the post, or you can view the mirrored image below.

Three more FSS 6.0 figures samples revealed

The G.I. Joe Collectors Club has posted another image this morning with three more samples of FSS 6.0 figures from China.  In this image we get our first look at the actual samples for W.O.R.M.S. Officer, Rampart, and Not Ghost Rider.

The more I see the Phantom X-19 pilot the more I like his build, though in this image he looks a little bit short and squat.  Rampart remains one of my favorite looking figures in the sixth FSS, with this image outlining some of the nice highlights of his modern parts, though his missing head scarf looks a lot more noticeable than I thought it might given the early digital mock ups.

W.O.R.M.S. Officer is pretty lackluster, to be honest.  I mean basing him off General Mayhem makes sense, leveraging the officer’s jacket, but the restrictive articulation and the difference between torso and arms just ends up looking ridiculous.  Not a big fan of the overall look here.

Keep watching the G.I. Joe Collectors Club Facebook Page for more updates, the latest image is mirrored below.

First look at in hand FSS 6.0 figure samples

In the rush of HasCon news, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club dropped a little reveal showcasing what looks to be their first in hand samples of upcoming Figure Subscription Service 6.0 figures.

Dojo, Sub Zero and Skip were shown on the G.I. Joe Collectors Club Facebook page and can be seen below:

01-Sub-Zero-Dojo-Skip

Things look like they’re coming together fairly nicely.  Skip’s build isn’t bad, though I’m not wild about that webgear riding up on his torso.  Sub Zero is decent enough, though that parka tooling is pretty restrictive.  I understand the desire to give him his hood, but there are times when it’s okay to modernize someone’s look to improve functionality.

Dojo looks pretty good in the background there, too, and I think he’ll look pretty awesome alongside TJBang from the 2014 Convention set.

Good to see things are coming along.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club FSS 6.0 Reveal Roundup

So I’ve fallen a bit behind on the FSS 6.0 reveals and the Club has kept pushing them out fast and furious.  Along with Sub Zero, we’ve now seen the following:

Night Stalker Commander

02-GIJCC-FSS-6-Night-Stalker

Based off of the Collectors’ Club’s own 2007 Night Stalker Commander from that year’s Convention Set, it’s a repaint and slight rebuild of their female COBRA Trooper.

Hardtop

03-GIJCC-FSS-6-Hardtop

Using Tollbooth’s head and a nice mix of somewhat recent parts (at least from the waist up, though honestly, those later generation Zap legs ain’t half bad).  This is one of the better reveals so far!

Crosshair

04-GIJCC-FSS-6-Crosshair

I always love seeing some of the new blood from the 2002 – 2005 era getting some plastic love, but this one isn’t real pretty.  That vest is too small and rides way too high.  I can think of several alternatives that would have worked better.  And what’s up with the black collar?

Skip

05-GIJCC-FSS-6-Skip

Yay, Z-Force!  Any excuse to get some cool Z-Force figures are good ones, and Skip looks pretty sharp.  I would have loved a head that allowed for a removable beret, but this is cool, too.

Dojo

06-GIJCC-FSS-6-Dojo

The colors match up, and he’ll look really good next to TJBang.  I don’t really get the use of the Storm Shadow torso underneath the webgear, and it feels like there’s a little too much going on there.  I can think of a few different purposes for that wacky head sculpt, too…

So far we’re halfway through the reveals for the latest Figure Subscription Service… a pretty eclectic group of characters this time around, that’s for sure.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals potential revised Salvo build!

And it is SO MUCH BETTER.

Taking fan feedback into consideration, the G.I. Joe Collectors Club has put together another possible build for the Salvo to be included in Figure Subscription Service 5!  Using the G.I. Joe: Retaliation Roadblock body and more accurate text for the shirt makes a TON of difference.

The figure looks 100% better.  Huge thanks to the Club for taking our feedback and bringing together something that really does Salvo some justice.  This is great stuff.

Please note – They still need to check on tooling availability, so this is not yet a done deal.  Everyone keep your fingers crossed that all the parts are available.  Check it out at GIJoeClub.com or the image below.

SO MUCH BETTER.

FSS 5 reveals wrap up (mostly) with Shattered Glass Xamot!

Well, it’s about time!  For over thirty years fans have been clamoring for a Sunbow inspired Tomax and/or Xamot in their Extensive Enterprises suits and now we’ve got them!

Of course, for o-ring fans there was the Crimson Guard 6-Pack from Toys “R” Us which satisfied us somewhat, but this is a full blown modern era version with the right jacket and pants colors and everything.  I’ll have to get a closer look at that flower deco, though…

Check out this final reveal at GIJoeClub.com…  but don’t fret!  There’s still Salvo.  The Club is supposedly working on a new build for him, hopefully we’ll hear something about that shortly as well.  Until then, check out all the FSS 5 entries as we know them now below!
