Registration is Live!

The GI Joe Club gave us two exciting pieces of news today.  First registration for the upcoming, and sadly final, GI Joe Club Convention is now live and second we got our first peak at the GI Joe club set.  Get online now to register for the event.  The first figure preview from the convention set is Slaughter’s Marauders Infantry Trooper Footloose.  We last saw Footloose as the 2012 GI Joe Collectors Club Free Membership Figure and here we get him again as part of Slaughter’s Marauders.  If you missed out on the figure 6 years ago here is your chance to get him again… of course in a slightly different deco.  This is a very nice first reveal and I can’t wait to see the next.

GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe Collectors Club Footloose!

I promise I will refrain from the Kevin Bacon jokes that I’ve been seeing a lot of since this figure was first announced…  :)

I’ve never been a huge Footloose fan, in all honesty, though reading his filecard made me wonder why not.  As we should all expect, Larry Hama was able to infuse so much damn character into someone in such a tiny written space, and Footloose is no exception.  He really is a fascinating guy.  I have read some complaints that this version of the character makes him a bit harder and “edgier” than folks would prefer, but I disagree.  I think this figure is pretty great.

Nice and military, great articulation, an awesome head sculpt… and the price is right!  Check out the full review below.

GI Joe Collectors’ Club – Subscriptions back online!

The following information comes via email from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club!

Hello all!

We have now taken the next step in getting the store fully online.  Since you are getting this email, that means your account is in good standing and you don’t need to do anything with your membership until you get further instructions from the new store.

What we do need is for you to spread the word that anyone whose membership has lapsed and wants to get back in the club starting with the May issue, needs to join by this Friday April 20th.  They can do this from any of the regular links at or by clicking here.  Anyone starting now will receive the free figures offered for 2013.

Please tell them to go to the store, put the membership in their basket and check out.  If they had a log-in it is still valid and they can use the retrieval function to get their password.  They will be eligible to order the extra Footloose or Man of Evil figures from this year’s runs when they are put online.

If you want multiple memberships, remember that you can only have one membership per email (same for any Transformers Club memberships).  Every email address can only have one membership attached to it whether it is a Joe or TF membership.

I know you are all wanting to order the exclusive figures as well, but there are still a couple of known bugs we have to get worked out in order for us to add products to the new store.  Currently, the store can only be used to join the Club.  We are shooting for the first week in May to have these items online.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your support!

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Footloose is arriving… with better wrist articulation!!

Wow, this is a very pleasant surprise.  The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club notified us all last week that the Footloose figures were now shipping, and HissTank user Blot has received his!  How did someone in England receive their figure before everyone in the US?  I have no idea, but the best news is that Blot took some nice pictures of Footloose, and I’ll be damned.  He’s got the ball joint wrists!

I don’t believe we’ve seen those in any previous image.  An awesome addition by the Club and the figure is looking even cooler now.  Check out a couple of mirrored images below, take a look at for the rest, but most importantly keep your eye on those mailboxes!  Footloose incoming!

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Membership Figures are IN THE MAIL!!

Well isn’t this a fine Friday morning surprise?

An email received from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals that they have started shipping their membership exclusive figures for 2012!  For us 3 3/4″ Real American Hero fans, that means Footloose should be in hand within the next few weeks!  Woo hoo!

The letter also provides some instructions for renewing memberships within the new Club online store system.  Check out the full email below!

Here are the latest updates from the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club:

SURPRISE! This week we started mailing the FREE membership figures for 2012!  We were able to get these manufactured much earlier this year, so off they go to you!  It will take several weeks for them to reach all of the membership, so please be patient.  If you don’t receive your figure by the end of May, please let us know.

In your April issue of the Club Magazine, you will find a letter that offers:  credit card fraud counseling; instructions on how to place a credit alert on your accounts; and a free one-year subscription to a Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft Recovery Service that we have purchased on your behalf.

If you have received any evidence of fraud on your credit cards, please call and make a report with the 800 number listed in the letter for the recovery services.

If you desire to take advantage of the Credit Monitoring and Identity Theft Recovery Service, your letter contains an individually assigned certificate number that will allow you to activate the service.  Do not share this certificate number with anyone as it is a one-time use certificate.  In addition, you will need to activate your service by June 15, 2012.  This service will last for 12 months once you activate it.  Again, we apologize for any issues this problem has caused our membership.

Please note that your Club Magazine will be approximately 2 weeks later than normal as we wanted to give you time to check your mailing addresses in the new Club Store before we used it for the first mailing.  You should receive your issue by May 4th. Please contact us after that date if you have not received your magazine.

Next week we will have the memberships back in the store.  If you need to renew, all you have to do is put a credit card on file before your billing date (see My Account when you log in).  The system will bill your renewal on that date.  If you expire, you will need to go to the store, select the membership of your choice and check out.  Then you will start again with the next mailing.

Finally, we are still working on getting all of our software and process back to normal.  We hope to have registration available for G.I. Joe Con soon.  We will send out an email when this is online.

Thanks for your support!

Deadline for GIJCC Membership Footloose still March 16th

There have been folks out there questioning whether the Collectors’ Club might extend the deadline for renewing memberships in order to accommodate folks who are concerned about using the current credit card system for renewals.

Last night, Brian Savage from Fun Publications sent out the following email:

“This update is going out to all members:

Due to the issue with processing credit cards we have currently suspended your ability to renew and join the club online. The deadline is coming March 16th for you to be eligible to receive the 2012 free club exclusives.

On Monday, we will have a pdf online on the club site for membership renewals and new memberships that you can mail in with a check or money order.  We will process your membership as soon as they arrive.

Please note that the March 16th deadline is a hard deadline (in house) so please make sure any mail is in the postal system by March 9th.

If you want to receive the free club exclusive Footloose or Man of Evil, your membership must be active as of March 16th.  At the bottom of this email you will find your expiration date.  If it is after March 16, 2012, you are good to go for the 2012 figure.

Also, please log into the club club site <> and ensure you have the figure selected you want to receive for this year, either 3 3/4″ or 12″.

Thanks for your support and patience during this difficult time.

So the membership deadline remains the same if you want your Footloose, but they will have PDF forms available today so a check or money order can be used.

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club posts 360 degree video of Footloose

Were folks wondering what the GIJCC Exclusive Footloose looked like from all angles?  Wonder no more!

The Collectors’ Club has posted a great YouTube video featuring their 2012 exclusive incentive figure Footloose, and finally gives us a good look at all sides of this great looking figure, including the backpack.

Check it out embedded below.

If you think the figure is cool, hit up to join the club before March 16th!

EDIT – The GIJCC has also sent along a nice close up image of the Club exclusive figure, too.  Looking GREAT.

So about that G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club membership…

Things have been quiet from the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club lately, which folks have noticed, especially when it comes to the FSS (Figure Subscription Service).  There are obviously some technical issues at work here, and hopefully we’ll get some information sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, the Collectors’ Club has renewed their push for membership and has posted some reminders via Facebook and elsewhere that if you want the 2012 Membership figure, you have to make sure you either join or renew by March 16th!

Hopefully folks who have suffered from the great Dial Tone shortage of 2011 will have learned from the experience and they realize that the $42 annual membership is worth the figure as well as the newsletter.

Speaking of the newsletter…  maybe I’m alone, but I think it’s been on a pretty great upswing in recent months.  The Adventure Team bio’s have been very well written and have integrated extremely nicely into the Real American Hero universe with some very cool homages to characters like Doc and Snow Job.  The Adventure Team comic has also been a pretty impressive piece of story telling, with art by G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero legend Rod Whigham. How can you go wrong?

But to me, the best piece of the newsletter is the ongoing Real American Hero comic story.  I think Dave Lane, Jesse Wittenrich, and Dan Khanna are really doing something fun with the comics.  This past issue began a “Footloose” storyline that had some fantastic cameos by the Night Stalkers, Hotwire, the Black Dragon helicopter and the Steel Brigade!  For folks who are jonesin to see their Pursuit of Cobra era figures in comic book form, this is what you’re looking for!  It certainly doesn’t hurt that it looks like they may possibly be touching on the whole Zombie Viper storyline…something Hasbro really should have better explored.  It also picks up on some loose ends from past convention comics, specifically the 2010 Vacation in the Shadows one!  Good stuff.

I think folks who have been sitting on the fence should get off that fence and consider signing up.  If not just for Footloose (which is a good enough reason itself) but also for the improving newsletter as well. Not even to mention the upcoming Figure Subscription Service… I think you’ll find the $42 well worth the cost.  You can check for sign up details.

G.I. Joe Collector’s Club 2012 Incentive figure is… FOOTLOOSE!

Hell.  Yes.

I know many fans were expecting to hear Footloose’s name with the announcement of the subscription figures, but while we’ve all eagerly waited for the official announcement, we’ve heard Footloose’s name a bit earlier than suspected.

No, he will not be one of the subscription figures, but he WILL be the 2012 Collectors Club incentive figure.  And he looks freaking GREAT.  Obviously using Claymore’s newly tooled head and helmet, with an awesome M4 Carbine, the familiar rocket launcher, and looking like he stepped out of 1985.

Fantastic.  He’ll look awesome fighting alongside Dusty in anyone’s Sunbow display.  Check out the mirrored image below, and of course hit up for details on how to become a member by the deadline in 2012.  I’m sure there will be fans lining up to do so.

Reviews posted for Toys “R” Us Troop-Builder 5-Packs

I had promised to get these posted last week, but Thanksgiving events postponed that somewhat…but better late than never, right?

Over in the Rise of Cobra Review Section I’ve posted reviews for both recently released Toys “R” Us Exclusive Troop-Builder 5-Packs:

There are more images here than you will see anywhere.
