GeneralsJoes Reviews GIJCC Arctic Dr. Mindbender

It would certainly seem as if 2015 kind of got away from me when it comes to my G.I. Joe reviews… I managed to stay on top of the 50th Anniversary releases fairly well, but several of the G.I. Joe Collectors Club releases lagged a bit behind.

Interesting that now that I’m tackling them, we’re dealing with the distinct possibility that the G.I. Joe Collectors Club as we know it (as well as the G.I. Joe Convention) may be coming to an end after 2016.  A real shame to be losing them as a resource as I dive into several of their really fun exclusives from 2015.  I truly hope Hasbro has some kind of plans post GIJCC to bring the G.I. Joe brand to collectors, as I believe we’ve been the driving force in keeping the brand alive over the past several years.  That will be considerably more difficult with an annual convention gathering or a Collectors Club offering exclusive toys geared towards us.

I will be cautiously optimistic that Hasbro recognizes our value and isn’t going to just leave the collectors who have been supporting the brand for over 50 years high and dry, but I suppose time will tell.

On that note, you can check out my review of the Arctic Dr. Mindbender at the link below, or on the G.I. Joe Collectors Club Review Page.  Hopefully we still have many years of exclusives like this to look forward to.

Expected to be available at the 2015 G.I. Joe Convention, the Collectors Club has revealed the first image of Arctic Dr. Mindbender on a classic themed card. Looks pretty great, I gotta say.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals Mindbender head sculpt test shot

I think most of us have seen the early image of the Collectors Club incentive Dr. Mindbender figure, but for the first time, the Collectors Club has shown the actual printed test shot of this new head sculpt.

It is impressive to say the least.

If you want to get your hands on this great update to the Cobra mad scientist, make sure you are a fully paid member as of March 16th!

Check out the head sculpt image mirrored below or on the G.I. Joe Collectors Club Facebook Page.

GeneralsJoes reviews G.I. Joe Kre-On Mini Figures Wave 2

When it rains it pours!  After a few short months of bare bones releases, the relative flood of G.I. Joe product has hit us over the past several weeks.  This includes the now immortal Wave 3 (or 3.5 depending how you look at it) as well as some great new Kre-O products.

I’ve already reviewed the Ghoststriker X-16, and thoroughly enjoyed it. and now up to the plate is the second wave of Kre-On mini figures.

You can immediately tell that there is a great focus on character and design with these blind bag sets, especially in the second wave of mini figures.  Check out my G.I. Joe Kre-O Review page, or click the link below to go directly to the review.

EDIT – G.I. Joe: Battleground available in select International markets for iOS

EDIT – Argh.  That’ll teach me to write the post before actually tracking down an iOS device to check myself…  apparently the game is out for iOS… in select International markets only.  Oops.

I would imagine that means release is fairly imminent, though. Keep checking back!

The moment that Apple users have been waiting for… G.I. Joe: Battleground has now appeared in the App Store for iOS!

At the moment, it still just appears to be available Internationally in the Google Play store for Android, but one would imagine that will change fairly soon. Some people around the world have had a chance to start playing this game already, and reviews so far have been pretty positive.

You iPhone and iPad users, join the fun!

Updated episode info for G.I. Joe: Renegades

A quick little blurb today before I hit the road…I plan on jumping back into site related duties shortly, just working around real life at the moment.

Fellow G.I. Joe: Renegades uberfan Kenny informs us that both MSN TV and TV Guide have updated their sites with descriptions for upcoming episodes, “Anamoly” and “Cutting Edge”.  Airing on June 11th and 18th, these two episodes mark the 21st and 22nd episode of the series.  Check out the descriptions below:

  • The Anamoly: The Joes head to New York to find a missing kid. While investigating, they encounter a Sewer Viper being pursued by a Mindbender.
  • Cutting Edge: A Cobra commander is attacked by a ninja and forced to escape to his secure facility. Meanwhile, Snake Eyes and Scarlett sneak into the commander’s facility.

Considering the strong ninja presence in Episode 22, I would strongly believe episode 23, “Cousins” puts an emphasis on Jinx and Storm Shadow.  Time will tell…

Two more COBRA Island reviews posted!

Continuing on my week long review project, I have added two more COBRA Island 7-pack reviews, and updated the 25th Anniversary Review page.

ACToys comes through with more Defense of COBRA Island figure pictures

It’s becoming almost a daily occurrence, and ACToys.com comes through again.  This time around, we’ve got some very cool pictures of the upcoming Dr. Mindbender and Strato-Viper, errr…  “Air-Viper”, both from the Defense of COBRA Island 7-Pack.  The more pictures I see of these items, the more fired up I get…these are some damn cool looking figures.  Considering there is a lot of existing tooling being used, I can’t help but really smile at the mileage Hasbro’s getting out of it, and at the same time, be a bit melancholy that we’re not still going full steam ahead with non-movie product.

Don’t get me wrong, though, the movie stuff is looking pretty freaking sweet as well, but there’s something to be said for a bare-chested ex-dentist who now specializes in mind control.  And fans are bitching about the MOVIE’S wayout concepts?  Yeeeeeah….  anyway, images are mirrored below.

Some COBRA Island 7-Pack information from Collectors’ Club newsletter

Some folks are starting to receive their latest Collectors’ Club newsletters for the month of April…but unfortunately there is no additional information on the 2009 Convention Exclusive figures within.

However, not all news is bad news.  According to GGPIKE of the Coil Club, the newsletter does have a very nice (though apparently somewhat small) picture spread of the upcoming Attack on COBRA Island 7-Packs with pictures of the figures and all of the gear they will be coming with!  Unfortunately, no pictures are available, but with help from George, I can describe what each figure looks to come equipped with:
