Danger Girl and GI Joe artist John Royle has original art from the series for sale

Recently, IDW Publishing released an really fun limited series Danger Girl and G.I. Joe which evoked some very cool Sunbow-esque memories.  Some great over the top writing and over the top artwork really married the two universes pretty seamlessly together, appealing very strongly to both the G.I. Joe and the Danger Girl crowd.

The artist for the series John Royle dropped me a note over the weekend to let me know that he has original artwork from the series for sale on his website JohnRoyleArt.com!  Some very cool pieces there, you should head over there and check them out.  If there’s a piece you want that you don’t see, drop him a line, he may have it still. If you’re in the market, hit up JohnRoyleArt.com and grab some up!

GeneralsJoes Reviews IDW’s Danger Girl/G.I. Joe #1

I will admit right up front that I know absolutely nothing about the Danger Girl universe.  I was an avid comic reader in the 90’s, and read many Image titles, but for whatever reason, Danger Girl was not one of them.  As such, this series doesn’t necessarily captivate me from the cross-over appeal, just more as a G.I. Joe story.

In that regard, it works to a certain degree, though I’m looking forward to seeing a bit more depth explored throughout the remaining three issues.

IDW G.I. Joe Solicitations for September, 2012

IDW has just supplied us with solicitation information for G.I. Joe titles hitting comic shops in September!  I’ll tell you I’m extremely excited to see what’s going to happen in the Real American Hero universe based on what we’re seeing here, which features a fan favorite character… a couple of them, actually.

Also, even thought it’s not strictly G.I. Joe related, I was excited to see a Transformers: Art of Fall of Cybertron collection featuring art from the extremely cool video game series…not only that, but written by long time G.I. Joe scribe and personal friend of GeneralsJoes Mark Bellomo!  That should be a great item to check out come September.  Also in September begins the “G.I. Joe Complete Collection” series which endeavors to gather together all of the Marvel G.I. Joe issues into a series of comprehensive volumes!  That should be a fantastic collection to keep an eye out for as well.

Check out the Read the Rest of this Entry link below to see the full blown solicitation list.

IDW announces Danger Girl/G.I. Joe Crossover event!

Coming straight from the horse’s mouth, IDW Publishing’s Twitter account has revealed that they will be releasing a Danger Girl/G.I. Joe crossover somewhere down the line!  While details are sparse, they did post an image of the cover featuring Abbie Chase, Cobra Commander, General Hawk, Duke, and… a couple other folks I don’t recognize.

Not sure exactly what to make of it, but according to Comic Book Resources “…Andy Hartnell will write the crossover with John Royle on art and J. Scott Campbell on covers. “Joe” editor John Barber and “Danger Girl” editor Scott Dunbier will tackle editing duties”.

Pretty neat for those Danger Girl and G.I. Joe fans out there…  check out the mirrored image below.

A big thanks to Jimmy “PS” Hayes on Twitter for the heads up!
