Over on HissTank.com, images from affiliate site Toyark have been mirrored giving us our first look at the carded design for the upcoming G.I. Joe line, scheduled to hit retailers in November of this year. The fine folks at Toyark took a TON of pictures, and I’ve mirrored several of them below, but you should pop on over to HissTank.com to check them all out.
No real surprises here, but some nice shots and the obvious omission of the “50th Anniversary” logo on the packages. Check it out!
It’s tough to say whether the leak of information and images had anything to do with a reveal of the upcoming G.I. Joe/Transformers ComicCon set, but whatever the reasoning, we now have official press photos of the set to share as revealed by Uproxx yesterday.
EDIT – Original source of the images (as I should have guessed) is ACToys here. I’ve mirrored a bunch more images and added them to the gallery below. This set is looking even better!
Labeled as only coming from the “Chinese Web” new images of what is believed to be the upcoming G.I. Joe ComicCon set have emerged on the G.I. Joe Discussion group on Facebook.
This year’s SDCC exclusive appears to be a Rattler repaint as Powerglide, with Scarlett facing off against a HISS repaint as Soundwave, with Zartan! Very cool looking repaints, for sure, and I’m loving that Scarlett build, though not really wild about the 25th Anniversary head sculpt.
I really loved the Retaliation Zartan as well, it will be interesting to see what the differences are between this one and the previous.
Choosing the repaint the Direct to Consumer HISS Tank is an awesome idea, too, and I’m digging those Soundwave missile launchers at the turret. Really creative stuff.
Not only is it cool to see these, but there are two slots in the crossword puzzle to fill in! Check out the mirrored images below, and hit up the G.I. Joe Discussion Group on Facebook to join in the talk!
Today marks the day that Hasbro ComicCon exclusives go on sale on HasbroToyShop.com, and it’s a day that lives in infamy.
Typically these items go on sale around 9:30 – 10:30am Eastern Time, but only the gods of HasbroToyShop themselves can know for sure.
I know in years’ past, folks typically put a search string in for “SDCC” or “ComicCon” and kept hitting refresh to get a head start on when those categories might have product. I have no idea if this will work, but if you want to give it a shot;
Again, no promises that any of those search algorithms will help… but it’s wortha shot.
Just as a reminder – the Desert Duel ComicCon Exclusive set was a joint Toys “R” Us/ComicCon exclusive and will NOT be available on HasbroToyShop. If you’re preparing your F5 fingers today it’ll be for the Crimson Strike set or the Slaughter Marauder/Iron Grenadier Kre-O set.
During the chaos of San Diego ComicCon, friend of GeneralsJoes Chris Polansky took some time to stop by the Hasbro booth and spoke with Mark Weber, Derryl DePriest, and John Violette about their roles in the latest iteration of G.I. Joe. They talk 50th Anniversary, IDW Comics, Kre-O, and all sorts of other topics. It was a great conversation, which I’ve transcribed below. Big thanks to Chris for taking the time out of his trip to help out. Enjoy!
Last week I posted a review for the ComicCon Kre-O Slaughter Marauders boxed set, and this week I’m following up an exciting SDCC with a review of the exclusive Crimson Strike boxed set with the Cobra Scythe w/ AVAC & Alley-Viper Officer vs. the G.I. Joe CHIMERA w/ Steeler & Grunt. They’re two pretty fun pieces of a cool looking set that you’ll only find at San Diego ComicCon and HasbroToyShop.
San Diego ComicCon is upon us! Hopefully everyone out there is ready. One of the joys of this annual gathering of geeks is the plethora of exclusive toys that are produced for it. This year leading the list of awesome exclusives is the Sgt. Slaughter Marauders vs. Iron Grenadiers Kre-O set!
Kre-O may be MIA from store shelves, but Hasbro went all out with this fantastic boxed set. Check out my Kre-O Review Page, or click the link below for the full review.
So the news leaked a bit prematurely yesterday (unfortunately), but today we are all official, and the news is great! Yes, Hasbro will be releasing a G.I. Joe Kre-O set at ComicCon and it contains Sgt. Slaughter and his Marauders vs. the nefarious Iron Grenadiers.
UPROXX has all the latest info, on a set that looks…well… about as insane as you’d expect a Sgt. Slaughter Kre-O set to look. Phenomenal.
Something just leaped to my #1 most wanted list for ComicCon exclusives. Good stuff!
Check out the images below, and thanks to UPROXX for breaking this exciting news!
That’ll teach me to crash early last night! Thinking that the Gentle Giant 12″ vintage figures represented the G.I. Joe news of Preview Night for SDCC, I logged off early last night, then woke up to the intel that Kre-O Wave 5 was revealed for the first time!
Looking like another fantastic line up by Hasbro, this fifth series gives us the following mini figure Kre-Ons:
Bullet Man (!!!)
Battle Damage B.A.T.
The info and images come from HISSTank.com and Toy Ark. Along with Series 5, we also got some great in person looks at the upcoming Terror Drome, which looks… frankly… like the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life, perhaps including my two children.
