Over on his Ryalltime blog, IDW Editor Chris Ryall has taken three separate covers from Kelsey Shannon, which are on G.I. Joe #11, Snake Eyes #11, and Cobra #11, and combined them into one large image.
It is… stunning. Seriously. This is one heck of an awesome piece of artwork. I love the new Cobra Commander design, I love the face off between the Joes and the Cobra’s. This is just fantastic.
Check out Chris Ryall’s blog, and take a peek at the mirrored image below. Try not to drool.

Good grief this thing is spectacular.
Granted, as I’ve said before, I prefer my figures to actually move, but it’s tough to argue at the sheer coolness of the display value with this particular figure. Part statue, part figure, and full of imposing awesomeness.
I love that the images they added also include a shot of him with the upcoming premium format Baroness as well. These would make for one cool display.
Check out the additional images right here and if you love this thing like I do, pre-order him via the banner below.

Ahh… G.I. Joe: Retaliation. The gift that keeps on giving.
Caught up in the “Wow” moments of last night, it was tough to sit back and look at what we saw and make judgements about the events transpiring and what they mean for the film. I will be laying some trailer related spoilers out here, so if you’re avoiding the trailer for some weird reason, you may not want to read ahead.

I’ve already posted some praise that the Twittersphere has heaped upon the trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which apparently premiered with Tin Tin at Butt-Numb-A-Thon in Austin, TX last night.
Well, the guys at Crave Online where there as well, and they had even more nice things to say about the trailer, but reader beware…there is a potential spoiler in their praise in regards to a character that might make an appearance at the end of the trailer. Click the read the rest of this story link below to read my thoughts on that.

Wow, this is great.
Robert Atkins, over the past few days has been updating his blog with some great information and details about the whole redesign of Cobra Commander’s uniform based on how he made his dramatic re-appearance in the IDW universe this week.
Well, today is no exception. Today, Atkins gets into some nice detail about the design process, the back and forth between him and Hasbro and even shows some early concepts that didn’t make it to final translation.
Some very insightful, awesome stuff. Check it out right here.

So, USA Today broke the story a couple of days ago about which Cobra agent was moving from their current position to assume the mantle of Cobra Commander! Of course, along with being appointed to dictator of the ruthless terrorist organization, it’s only natural that he receive a new set of duds, too.
Robert Atkins, one of my personal favorite artists, had a hand in designing the Cobra Commander uniform (quite a bit hand) and he’s taken some time on his Blog to go through the design process, providing some incredibly cool input drawings as well.
Very cool stuff. I’ve mirrored one of the images below, but you should definitely hit up RobertAtkinsArt.Blogspot.com to check out the rest. This is a fantastic update to Cobra Commander, and I’ve got my fingers crossed that we see it in plastic form somewhere down the line.
BEWARE – ROBERT ATKINS’ BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS ABOUT THE IDENTITY OF THE NEW COBRA COMMANDER. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Well, in a way, I guess.
I think we were all pretty certain that Cobra Commander had to appear somewhere in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. I think the question was mostly when, where, and who was playing him. Well, we still don’t know who is playing him, but we know who the stand in is!
A well known casting site for the G.I. Joe sequel has posted some casting information for a unit scheduled to work today, September 21st. You can see it here. The cast list calls for stand ins for “Warden”, “Storm”, and “CC”. Only makes sense that they’re referring to the prison warden, Storm Shadow, and Cobra Commander. One would think, anyway.
So, another larger question is, does this indicate some sort of “prison break” sequence? Or is something more sinister going on? With a fairly established actor playing the prison warden in Walt Goggins, it feels like he may play a larger role than simply a victim of an escape. But maybe I’m reading too much into it. Heck, if Zartan is president, he might just pardon Cobra Commander in the first place.
Looking forward to hearing more information, and hopefully some time soon we’ll get a peek at what Cobra Commander looks like. Fingers crossed for some battle helmet action! Thanks to BCYOJOE from HissTank.com for the info!
