Okay, I have a confession to make. I love these Resolute toys. I really, really, REALLY love these Resolute toys. I know everyone labels me a Hasbro fanboy anyway, so that probably comes as no surprise to anyone, but my love for these Resolute toys goes beyond my normal love for the normal cool toys.
While I am fired up for the Pursuit of Cobra items and I love what I’m seeing there, too, for some reason the look and feel of G.I. Joe: Resolute just has me on cloud nine. It’s a little bitter sweet, because I’m not sure we’ll ever see anything else from this awesome Resolute universe, but if this is it, it’s a great last stand.
Granted, there were aspects of the Resolute story that certainly were not perfect, but the big drawing point were the designs, and seeing those designs translated into 3 3/4″ plastic form is absolutely awesome. So, of course, since I’m so ramped up, I couldn’t just stop at two reviews posted today… here are FOUR more. These are all linked at the G.I. Joe: Resolute Reviews Page, or you can check them out individually below:
So that’s a total of eight of the fourteen figures… I might even get the last six posted tomorrow. But I don’t want to shortchange my “Review-A-Rama” too much!
Sideshow has done up a very cool video presenting their plans for the G.I. Joe license in conjunction with SDCC 2010! You can view it on their site right here.
I also took some screen shots from some of the more interesting items shown, such as Dusty and Stalker 12″ figure designs, Cobra Commander and Baroness statues, and dioramas featuring Cobra Commander, the Crimson Guard, Roadblock and more.
Check out the screen grabs below, watch the video here, or just check out the embedded video below as well.

The Origin of Zartan, Part 1: Who is Zartan? You may think you know the murderous master of disguise but you don’t know the whole story! A hired killer under the command of the Baroness is dangerously compromised. He’s offered the protection of COBRA and sent on a risky mission that ends with a scene that will have Joe fans talking for years. This one is 100% guaranteed to shock!
*2 regular covers will be shipped in a 1-to-1 ratio.

August is only a couple of short months away, and we all know what that means in regards to the Asian market. Over the past few days quite a number of products have started showing up across the web, and while I’ll refrain from linking to specific auctions, I did want to mirror the updated images and point out that these all come courtesy of The Terror Drome. To date, we’ve got some nice pictures of Pursuit of Cobra City Strike Beachhead, Jungle Assault Duke, Desert Battle Storm Shadow, and G.I. Joe: Resolute Scarlett and Baroness.
In the past I’ve jumped on some of these auctions pretty quickly, to be totally honest. But so far, I’m holding myself back on this initial batch. I grabbed Spirit pretty quickly when he appeared a couple of weeks back, but I’m just having a hard time pulling the trigger on $20 a pop when they should be hitting retail in about 6 – 8 weeks. The really weird thing is, for the Rise of Cobra figures, which were pretty inferior, all told, I was jumping on them pretty quick. But for these much better figures, I can’t bring myself to do it, at least not yet. Is it because of the price jump, which is admittedly, pretty small? Or is it my strong, iron clad moral core? Yeah, definitely not that.
Yeah, I think “assload” applies. Gyre-Viper got a hold of quite the array of test shots for upcoming items, and produced an mysterious tale of suspense and intrigue… what happens when Token-Viper dares turn on the Cobra cabal?
Find out which Joes are behind enemy lines… and ask yourself why the hell is Duke wearing a parka in the middle of a steaming jungle? Check out the images at HissTank.com, or also mirrored below.
Heh…in the last post I mentioned a month was a long time to wait for a follow up to a 5 minute webisode. Turns out, the action itself only took just over 3 minutes. Overall impression? About what you’d expect for a direct-to-website feature catered to kids. It’s done in CGI animation, purely computer models, and they looked like they were pulled from the cut scenes of the console game (which isn’t necessarily a good thing). Some choppy animation, some stilted voice acting, and nothing that will really make the long time fans go crazy. Definitely not G.I. Joe’s best side.
I still kinda dig seeing the movie universe further explored (especially since it would appear it’s vanishing entirely from store shelves with this G.I. Joe “reboot” this fall), but the end result did not blow my skirt up, which is really saying something when coming from this fanboy. Regardless, I’ll be waiting the first Friday of every month just to see what’s next.
On the positive side, we did get some cool intel when the credits rolled! I’ve mirrored some screen shots below, including a shot of the voice credits, which indicate that some other characters will be appearing in the series like Recondo, Helix, and Snow Job! I’ll check out further installments just for that.
A fun way to spend a few minutes, but don’t expect Beast Wars or Starship Troopers… the gallery is below.
There have been several scattered stories about this week already concerning IDW’s G.I. Joe titles, but instead of spending all sorts of real estate talking about each one individually, I figured I’d recap a bit.
Comic Book Resources has posted a great interview with G.I. Joe: Origins creative team Marc Andreyko and Ben Templesmith. They focus much of their attention on G.I. Joe: Origins #12, which hit today and features The Baroness. A great read!
Speaking of G.I. Joe: Origins #12, we already have two reviews of this latest issue, posted at The Terror Drome and Panels on Pages respectively.
Last, but not least, IDW has announced that G.I. Joe: COBRA II #1 has sold out at retail! They are currently working on issuing a second printing, with a special exclusive cover…check out the full press release after the jump!
Every so often, Sideshow Collectibles posts a Q & A offering some information and insight on their upcoming products…well, this time around, they went one better for G.I. Joe fans, and devoted a special section of their Q & A purely to G.I. Joe related questions. The information is below, simply click on the Read the Rest of this Entry link. The entire Q & A can also be read on Sideshow’s site right here. Thanks to HissCommander of The Terror Drome for the information!
I know my reviews have slacked a bit, but only because I couldn’t find these items in stores! Finally got my hands on what I wanted, though, and the most in depth reviews you’ll find anywhere have been posted to the Rise of COBRA Review Page! Also, follow the links below.
We’ve previously seen the G.I. Joe character montage in video form, but now IGN comes through from the other side of enemy lines…they’ve posted a brief one minute clip of COBRA agents Baroness, Firefly, and Storm Shadow as playable characters in the upcoming video game. Check out the embedded video below!
