Ever since they first started doing these minimalist posters I’ve been waiting for this year to come up…as most of you are aware, I’m a huge Hit & Run fan, and I was really looking forward to seeing how they did him, not to mention the other fantastic characters from 1988.
So far I have not been let down! Codename: Iowa has revealed a few ’88 prints, and my ole buddy Hit & Run is front and center. SO GOOD.
As a reminder, these prints help fund the fantastic G.I. Joe regional convention “Assembly Required” in Des Moines, Iowa, which is a terrific event for G.I. Joe fans of all ages.
Keep your eyes on the site for the latest information on Assembly Required’s convention date, but for now, enjoy the prints and watch CodenameIowa.com , their Facebook Page, or Twitter Page for more reveals.
EDIT – You know I was going to leave it at that…but I just have to smile at the way these minimalist prints look. When they first started these with the ’82 series, it worked amazingly well, but I secretly wondered how they could possibly attribute that style to the more complex later designs.
Well, one look at Windmill’s helmet tells me… they get it. They really get it. Continued excellent work, looking forward to more.
Every year the great folks from Codename: Iowa put together Assembly Required, an annual show to celebrate the greatness of G.I. Joe. This year is certainly no different.
Featuring the talents of timeless comic artist Ron Wagner as well as some great insight from the guys at JoeDeClassified and a customizing seminar from the fine folks at JoeCustoms.com, Assembly Required is shaping up to be something special.
It can be found at the Des Moines Social Club on November 8th, 2014 – this weekend!

This has got to be one of my favorite times of the year…when Hasbro takes their foot off the pedal it falls to the fans to continue celebrating the history and the life of G.I. Joe, and the guys at Codename Iowa do some spectacular work in this regard.
Their event Assembly Required launches in Des Moine, Iowa on November 16, 2013, with free attendance, thousands of dollars worth of prizes, special guests, and the opportunity to purchase some very unique and interesting G.I. Joe posters and prints. The guys behind this event are amazing artists and that talent shows through in all of their poster offerings, and this year is certainly no different. For each event they cover a different year, and this year we get 1985! How can you go wrong.
