Thanks to bluesparrow from HissTank.com who reports that in the latest issue of Toy Fare, the previously revealed Mail Away Cobra Commander will not just be a mail away, but will also see limited retail release on the special Cobra themed card. They mentioned August release dates for both Cobra Commander as well as the new Cobra H.I.S.S. tank, and also made mention of an upcoming single card Dusty and Alley-Viper!
Considering what we’ve seen from the Pursuit of Cobra stuff so far, I’m really excited to see what they’re doing with the Alley-Viper. They are really ramping up the accessorization for this new Joe line it would appear, so here’s hoping we get something really bad ass to add to our Cobra armies.

With all the talk of the upcoming Resolute boxed sets, everyone’s been clammoring for Roadblock, Destro, Stalker and all of the guys that didn’t get the action figure treatment, but not many fans are really making mention of the arctic assault uniforms that Duke and Scarlett wore while they busted up Siberia. HissTank member meeko, actually goes even further, and he did up some great customs of the entire cast of characters from the Arctic battle…not only did he do some very nice versions of Siberian Scarlett and Duke, but also the Alley-Vipers, Ice-Vipers, and Zartan. He used some Star Wars parts, some Joe parts, and really thinks outside the box on some of these things. Nice stuff.

The Cobra Rage has always been a vehicle that I had an affinity for, even with it’s strange design and even stranger original color scheme…it was meant to be an urban vehicle, yet was decked out in very desert-themed colors. With a ton of potent offensive weapons, it was a very cool looking vehicle, and was made to look even better in 1998 when it got the crazy cool black and blue repaint treatment.
Well, if this high res image holds true, it looks like the updated version we’re getting in 2010 will look even better! Colored in a very nice, deep purple color scheme with gorgeous splashes of equally dark green, it’s got a very interesting new color pallet without being too ugly and garrish. Of course this image looks heavily Photoshopped, but if the vehicle hits as it looks here, well… damn. I’m sold. Love it. I’m one of the few guys who actually really likes these new tires as well. The more muted colors on the Alley-Viper is just the icing on the cake. Beauty.

Thanks to HissTank.com for the image…

Early this morning I reported on the leaked vehicle images that had shown up, and I’ve spent the morning doing some research, and I’ve got a little elaboration on what these items may be. Keep in mind, this is hypothetical on my part, but I’m feeling pretty good about what I’ve got here, notes-wise.
- Desert Rockslide w/ Dusty (Alpha Vehicle)
- COBRA Lava Pod w/ Volcano Viper (Alpha Vehicle)
- Tiger Claw w/ Leatherneck (Alpha Vehicle)
- Polar Shark Sub w/ Ice Storm (Alpha Vehicle)
- Snow Cat w/ Whiteout (Bravo Vehicle)
- COBRA Fury w/ Alley-Viper (Bravo Vehicle)
This information was gleaned from retailer lists and some process of elimination. We should find out at SDCC how accurate this little list is. I’ve also got non-watermarked versions of the images hosted below!

Whoever said Sunday was a “day of rest” didn’t pass the word along to Cmderinchief, as he’s posted another nice gallery of an upcoming figure, this time the Defense of COBRA Island Alley-Viper. With some fantastic gear, two removable knives, and loads of detail, this is, without a doubt, one of the highlights of the Anniversary line. I’m thrilled that Hasbro found a way to get it released, and I cannot wait to see what else they might do with it going forward. Awesome figure.

Anyone who hasn’t checked out the Last Best Angry Man Toy Review blog is really missing out on not only some great insight, but some humor along with it. The guy behind the site (who goes by Irid70 on HissTank and the Terror Drome) has wrapped his meathooks around one of the upcoming Alley-Viper figures from the Defense of COBRA Island 7-Pack and posted his review here. Some very nice images of a figure that looks to be a sure-fire winner.
Thanks to The Terror Drome for pointing out this great review!

eBay seller Black Sheep Toy Store has re-listed the loose Defense of COBRA Island Alley-Viper figure, and it appears to come fully loaded with a full compliment of accessories, but at a much better price. Previously selling for $29.99, the figure has now been relisted at $14.99 with free shipping! Not a bad deal for folks wanting to bulk up on their Alley-Viper squads without dropping $40.00 apiece on 7-packs.
The auction is here and the images are below.
Now if only he’d drop the price on that Resolute Baroness… Thanks to Ricardogasjr of HissTank.com for the intel.

Forgive me if this is old news, I’m starting to lose track with all of these upcoming items flying in all directions… I believe Black Sheep Toy Store on eBay has posted a pair of new items, Resolute Baroness and the upcoming Alley-Viper from the Defense of COBRA Island 7-Pack. The Buy it Now prices have gone up to $29.99, but the images are still of great quality, so you should definitely check out the store.
The fact that he has more than 10 available for the Resolute Baroness makes me feel a bit better about the possibility of seeing some of these figures down the road, but time will tell. Check out the images mirrored below.
Thanks to Smokescreen from One-18thToys.com for the info.

Even with the upcoming film and with Resolute fresh on our minds many fans are sitting on pins and needles waiting for the upcoming “Attack of” and “Defense of” COBRA Island 7-Packs. Check out the thread here, and the images mirrored below. Outstanding looking figure.
