G.I. Joe: The 2010 and 2011 Pursuit of Cobra SuperPage

For the sake of interesting comparison, you can still go to the old Pursuit of Cobra SuperPage RIGHT HERE.  It’s pretty cool to compare and contrast, just to see what’s changed.

Packaging is considerably different, but according to the text on the back, the 2010 G.I. Joe line will indeed retain the Pursuit of Cobra moniker.  However, the lineup has been changed up quite a bit.  This is (and will be) everything we know about G.I. Joe in 2010.

Updated:  Click here to download a great Pursuit of Cobra Checklist you can take with you!

Wave 1, 2010 – Due August, 2010;  MSRP $5.99

  • Duke (Jungle Assault)
  • Snake Eyes (Desert Battle)
  • Snow Job (Arctic Threat)
  • Beachhead (City Strike)
  • Alley-Viper (City Strike)
  • Firefly (City Strike)
  • Cobra Commander (Jungle Assault)
  • Storm Shadow (Desert Battle)

Items of note:

  • Cobra Commander is a chase figure, meaning he will not be shipped in equal cases with every other figure.  No concrete numbers were given, though Hasbro said at the 2010 Toy Fair that he would NOT be as rare as a figure like the Clear Wraith.
  • The previously seen Jungle Assault Storm Shadow has apparently been replaced with a Desert Battle Storm Shadow with a more ornate and middle eastern appearance.
  • Certain headsculpts have been retooled from previous figures to remove the actor likenesses.

Wave 2, 2010 – Due October, 2010; MSRP $5.99

  • Dusty (Desert Battle)
  • Recondo (Jungle Assault)
  • Destro (Arctic Threat)
  • Snake Eyes (Unknown)
  • Zartan (Desert Battle)
  • Jungle-Viper (Jungle Assault)

Items of note:

  • Destro apparently has a retooled head to remove the likeness to the version seen in the film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
  • The Armored Snake Eyes doesn’t have much in the way of information attached to it.  At this point he could be an arctic version, or something else entirely
  • Even though the Toy Fair showroom had a sample of Zartan with the actor likeness, Hasbro confirmed that Zartan’s head WILL be retooled.

Wave 3 (Wave 1, 2011) – Due January, 2011;  MSRP $5.99

  • Cobra Shock Trooper
  • Duke
  • Snake Eyes
  • Storm Shadow

Items of note:

  • Snake Eyes and Cobra Shock Trooper will feature new wrist articulation that allows for better positioning of their hands
  • Cobra Shock Trooper was based on a real life “Breacher” and is very true to form, even down to counterweights on the back of the webgear
  • Duke’s machine gun is heavily influenced by the Colonial Marines pulse rifle from Aliens
  • Snake Eyes is strongly based on how he appears in the Sideshow Collectibles’ toyline
  • There will be two variants of Snake Eyes, one with the “Visor” head and one with the “Commando” head

Wave 4 (Wave 2, 2011) – Due March, 2011;  MSRP $5.99

  • Destro
  • Lowlight
  • Shadow Tracker
  • Skydive

Items of note:

  • Destro’s “Stedi-Cam” heavy machine gun lying at his feet was heavily influenced by the film Aliens
  • Low Light’s added wrist articulation allows for very realistic sniper positions
  • Low Light’s sniper rifle can “break down” and fit into the carrying case
  • Shadow Tracker’s face mask was retooled and changed from the original, initially slated for 2010 release
  • Skydive reuses all of the figure tooling for the “Desert Battle Ripcord” but has a different head with a balaclava

Wave 5 (Wave 3, 2011) – Due May, 2011; MSRP $6.99

  • Blowtorch
  • General Hawk
  • Steel Brigade
  • Cobra Commander
  • Cobra The Enemy
  • Jungle B.A.T.

Wave 6 (Wave 4, 2011) – Due July, 2011; MSRP $6.99

  • Cobra Viper

  • G.I. Joe Steel Marauder w/ Kickstart
  • Cobra Deviant w/ Cyber-Viper

G.I. Joe and Cobra Mech Suits Wave 1, 2011 – Mass Retail, Due March, 2011 MSRP $24.99

  • Cobra Minotaur w/ Desert Scorpion
  • G.I. Joe Mountain Wolf w/ Alpine

Items of Note:

  • What was originally Wave 3 of the Rise of Cobra Alpha  Vehicles has left folks a bit confused.  It certainly hasn’t appeared at mainstream retail, though the entire assortment has been seen overseas, and rumors even persist of items being found in K-Mart stores stateside.  Eventually you have to assume the Lava Pod, Rockslide, Tiger Claw, and Polar Shark Sub will hit mass release, but it’s tough to tell at this point.
  • Initial release information seemed to indicate that the first wave of Alphas would contain the Armored Panther w/ Outback, the Cycle Armor w/ Ashiko, the HISS Scout w/ HISS Driver, and the Ice Cutter w/ Snow Serpent.  Of those, only the Ice Cutter looks to continue to have a concrete place here.  With the amount of new tooling involved, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Cycle Armor appear in 2011, but I’m really not sure what might become of the Armored Panther or even the HISS Scout.
  • The Cobra Fury and Wolfhound were initially slated to hit in the carry over from The Rise of Cobra earlier this year, but have apparently been pushed back to coincide with the revamped line instead.  Leaves one to wonder if there are any boxed samples out there with previous artwork.
  • JoeCon last year showed us a pretty neat looking Night Raven repaint, and that has, apparently, been shelved.  I don’t find it surprising, considering the Night Raven has been reported at massive clearances around the country.
  • The Joe and Cobra Mech Suits use the base vehicle from the 2.5″ Sigma 6 Iron Hammer, but have significantly retooled cockpits to fit the larger figures.
  • The third wave of Pursuit of Cobra Alpha vehicles (Ashiko w/ Cycle Armor and HISS Scout) never made it to mainstream US retailers, instead being released mostly in Canada through Winners and Zeller retail stores.
  • Wave 2 of the Pursuit of Cobra Mech Suits were canceled prior to release

Toys “R” Us

  • Sting Raider w/ Copperhead & Swamp-Viper (Carry Over)
  • Headquarters for Heroes Doc (Carry Over)
  • Headquarters for Heroes Shipwreck (Carry Over)
  • Pursuit of Cobra Quick Kick
  • Pursuit of Cobra Spirit

Online Exclusives

  • G.I. Joe: Resolute 7-Pack (G.I. Joe)
  • G.I. Joe: Resolute 7-Pack (Cobra)

Items of Note:

  • The Target mini-vehicles have not been confirmed for release, but boxed samples have gotten into collectors hands, so even though we’re not sure exactly when they’re going to show up, I think chances are good that they will shortly.
  • The TRU Exclusives were initially slated to come out early this year as the line shifted to The Pursuit of Cobra.  Even though the mainline PoC stuff got pushed back, the exclusives still hit, but only under the original Rise of Cobra banner.
  • Randy

To my eyes, most of this stuff blows away most of last years stuff. Looks like it’ll be a tough year on the wallet.

  • Fatpaul

Four missing from previous line up –

    Ripcord (Desert Battle Flightsuit)
    Duke (Arctic Threat)
    Heavy Duty (Desert Battle)
    Ice-Viper Elite (Arctic Threat)

Not bothered about the last two, but the Duke & Ripcord figures looked awesome – can we check with Hasbro?

  • Napoleon

What about the rest of Resolute G.I.JOE team?

  • Carlos Barajas

Hola, this new stuff is the best one in all time from new Gi Joe after ARAH (2005), I hope they will have it available in México and in an affordable price.

I do thank a lot for sharing all the cool pictures, really appreciated, I got no words to thank you enough!

  • Kitchen Viper

Jungle Assault Duke looks -gasp- pretty cool! I am actually looking forward to a DUKE? well it is a great headsculpt… Bye-bye Chatum, you will not be missed.

Still looking forward to Zartan the most, tho. He looks much better with the black makeup.

  • Ogre_h

Say does the SnowCat/Wolfhound have moving rear treads now?

  • What about the pants on Zartan?? are they going to be khaki (like the promo pic) or grey (as the prototype)?? Whats with the color change… I mean he is a master of disguise, but come on…!! Which one is going to be produced, I want to know dammit!

  • Leroy

Hey does anybody know if the city strike Scarlet is still coming out? She looked pretty cool in those photos you had up here before.

  • is zartans hood color changed? cuz he looks cooler and more classical in those colors.. does he still come with his knife?

  • Hypnohustler

Hey, I don’t see the mechs or the upcoming waves of Rip Attack stuff. What gives Justin? You’re slipping!

Seriously though, this is a great resource, I just want everything on it.

  • Carlos Barajas

Hola Justin, I do thank you a lot your great webpage Again, I did download of the pdf list of PoC, is fantastic

  • notpicard

I keep going back here for the what-might-have-been stuff. And I imagine others would like a link in the comments to the old superpage archived here:

  • Napoleon

looks good. thanks for all your hard work.

  • Scarecrow

So all of this is do out later this year? I picked up the Sting Rader a couple of days ago, and the Two new joes (Shipwreck and Doc.) But My favorite Joe, Lifeline, will they be re-releasing him? Cant wait tell august, even at 32 I still collect them!

  • Dominic rex

It would be nice to see all of the dreadkons in a two of the 7 packs

  • Arctic Duke was comfirmed at the Hasbro office tour that he is not coming out, but the body will be used for Mech Pilot Alpine

The next wave of Rip Attack wave was canceled as well.

Ripcord (Desert Battle Flightsuit)received a New head & is now Skydive

  • @notpicard-

Yes! I forgot about City Strike Scarlett. Too bad about her. Looked cool!

  • madmac41

Hey Justin you have wave 2 mechs with the info for wave 1

  • Nas is right, Hawkwinter, I’m referring to the “Stedi-Cam” gun lying at Destro’s feet, not the mini-gun that he has in his hands. It hooks onto his belt and works like the weapon from Aliens (and Repeater as well, naturally…)

Thanks for the heads up on the Mechs, Scott!

  • Interesting thing about all the pushed back releases is that a lot of Sinter gear and battle theme for that sort of environment was scheduled to release in colder months and now it looks like a lot of it will hit in the Summer or early Fall. I wonder what effect if any that will have on sales.

  • Psyche-Out

What’s going on with Destro? The artic threat version looks like Mr. Freeze and this pursuit version looks like SAW Viper. You can count me on getting the Pursuit because of the Ca$h and the BFG. Not quite sure what I’m going to do with the figure itself, however.

  • there goes my pay check

  • Napoleon

is it me or does TRU exclusive Spirit look like Rambo!!!

  • can u add the pics from hts to wave 1?

  • Carlos Barajas

Hola, where is the link to see your review of RHINO of RoC? Thank you

  • Artimak

Do we have any word yet either way about the City-Strike Scarlett? With a slightly resculpted head (to avoid the actress’ likeness), she’d make an awesome version of the character. Someone else mentioned Lifeline – I’d like to see him, as well as Sci-Fi in his neon green and silver suit from ARAH!!! Anyone else?

  • Twink Viper

The new Destro is just CS Firefly body reused with a new head and arm,or. Hasbro is back to their old schemes again.

  • Napoleon

Why does Hasbro even waste their time with figures like this “wave 3″ Storm Shadow!!! Looks like another “Tornado Kick” type waste!!We already have so many Storm Shadows!!Make a cool Footloose or Billy or October Guard!!!Something!!! not stuff with “Tornado Kicks”!!!Please C’Mon!!

  • I prefer to read this kind of stuff. The quality of content is fine and the conclusion is good. Thanks for the post.
