Where’s the steel brigade figures dog?

  • ThMick

Thanks for the great pics! Man there’s a lot there that I like, and I’m hoping that it all comes out. I also hope that Zarana fig goes to wider retail, but that sculpt seems a little mature for a retail release figure.

  • Dragonfly

Gotta say “Hawk” looks an awful lot like a Sparks to me, which is why I’ll be getting him. And I really don’t think that’s a renegades Storm Shadow. I think he’s more in line with that great Snake Eyes we got this year–the ultimate RAH update. Stalker seems to fit that category, too.

Some neat stuff all around. Thanks for collecting the info for us!

  • Dragonfly

Oh, also, are we sure about those vehicle prices? I’d have expected $30 for the Bravo vehicles and at least $40 for the Skystriker. Not that I’d complain–it just seems too good to be true. :)

  • Josh

I agree that the Stormy is just too damn good to be a Renegades rendition. No doubt in my mind that the designers made this one as an answer to the PERFECT Snake Eyes from PoC……

BUT……it might be released as a Renegades version. Doesn’t mean that it IS one though! It’s just a cardback after all! ;)

  • 788 Vs. Your name here

    hmmm….

nothing yet about that 2011 “retail” release of Sgt. Slaughter.

some hits in that list…..iron grenadier, storm shadow, stalker, Techno-Viper (w/road cone?) renegades firefly, Decobray.

some misses too….cobra commander (w/cape), croc master (in case you missed him for $3 at Marshalls), blowtorch (fix the helmet/mask Hasbro!), temple snake eyes…worst SE evah IMO.

and a few “on the fence”s…..Haz-Ops, hawk, rock viper.

    prognosis…..

theres enough coming to keep my wallet from getting too fat!

  • William McKean

The Sky Striker is the winner of the whole lot, and the SDCC exclusive Starscream & Cobra Commander is just icing on the cake. Storm Shadow finally looks right and his weapons are perfect. I think we get some of the best stuff when Hasbro has their focus on other properties, some really treasures seems to slip in when the spotlight is elsewhere. Thanks for the pics and updates.

  • M6d

Hasbro already stated in a q&a that there will be no Slaughter re-release. He signed a Legends contract with WWE last year so he’s unfortuantely back with Mattell.

Maybe the Club can do something like they did a few years ago again though.

  • 788 Vs. Your name here

thanks M6d…mustve been in the bathroom when that info was brought forth. damn taco night.

    oh well.

I’m kinda disappointed with the bonus waves (4+5). Most of these figures seem uninspired and straight up repaints of already ‘Meh’ figures. (With exception of the ‘Heavy’ Iron Grenadier, and the Steel Brigadier). That Hawk looks fantastic, just not as ‘Hawk’,I’ll probably troop build him as a greenshirt. There is no price I wouldn’t pay for Starscream, which is fortunate because he will be EXPENSIVE and hard-to-find!!!! Zarana looks perfect, however, not thrilled with its Convention Exclusive status. The Renegades toys are all much better than anticipated. But the true ‘Belle of the Ball’ for me is Sci-Fi. Perfection. Justin, a few questions…1). Will the finished Cobra Commanders, or Viper have chrome face plates? 2). In your opinion, did the stature of the G.I. Joe presence at Toyfair diminish from previous years? If so, is it because Hasbro is scaling back on the line to concentrate on Transformers during a movie-release year, or is it because they’re saving some surprises for Joe Con?

  • Andrew Hall

Hey Justin, I take back question 2 as I notice you answered it in an earlier post. Thanks, as always, for your excellent reporting!

    thank you for this news!!

Another thing I am kinda excited about. Take a look at the Thor movie Hogun. It is almost what I would dream a POC Budo would look like. I’ll be adding him for sure to my Joes. Also those wannabe Joes Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat are coming back to 3.75 size. M Bison was a member of my Cobras back in the day. There were not Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter figures at Toyfair, but just artist mock ups.

  • MFJayman

I’m very curious about the Scarlett and Flint figures. I wonder if they’ll be revealed at JoeCon. God I hope so, especially Scarlett. I’d love for them to be based on their Renegades designs, which I think would translate very nicely into POC-style figures.

That new SE looks like a re paint of the cancelled resolute training one.

  • Scarecrow

Whats with the renegades? Are they releasing a new cartoon? they look ‘toony. I re started collecting because they looked “real” again. And whats with the releasing in limited areas? we dont get them here in montana very offten.

They Brought back Lifeline! about damn time. anybody notice that there seems to be a lack of medical troops in the current Joes line? Does no one get sick or heaven forbid, shot? I would think they would add some due to the Civil war.

  • Kieffert5

Zarana is Flippin SSSWWWEEETTT!!! Would LOVE to see it released both versions as regulars in a series…Snake Eyes of course is looking really good…Gonna have to get Scarlett and Cobra Commander…Love the new Cartoon, except for how they did Zartan…hope they explain that the guy with the tech isn’t really him or something along those lines, because I want the mutant Zartan not Motorcycle Gang leader turned Cobra agent…maybe have the tech explained as triggering his mutation, but not cool factor is still there due to his awesome backstory link to Snake and Storm missing. I would think it very very VERY cool to see bases released…I think it’s time to bring back the awesome wow factors to toys again and lets get some bases and sets that connect to bases….like you can get the terror dome and then get the cobra outpost to go with it or Mindbenders lab, and for the Joes The Main base with sets like Joe check point and detainment facility…lots of ideas for some really cool stuff. Here’s hoping!!

  • HowardtheDeck

this is an amazing page. Great work- my new one-stop-shop for Joe updates!

  • Wordburglar

I saw a mention of Footloose on the main page, is that a proposed figure or just speculation at this point?

  • Dusty Ayers

I’m actually surprised how much I like the Hazard Viper. He is kind of a plastic statue but he just looks so darn cool. I can totally imagine him walking around spraying his poison everywhere like in a bad zombie movie.

  • Dusty Ayers

The Black Dragon VTOL also surprised me too. It was a definite pass for me but then I saw a review I liked and decided to buy it. It is actually very cool. The wings snapping forward is cool as is the bomb drop mechanism. I really like the overall look. The paint apps are nice and I don’t mind it not having any stickers. I don’t have a lot of time for my hobby and the decals take up a lot of time. It’s just a cool toy with great features that possesses the pseudo-futuristic look I’ve always liked about Gi Joe.

  • http://admin Justin

It’s confirmed as the GIJCC membership figure for 2012

  • Stalker

Can we get the breakdown on the upcoming waves posted to this site? (Kwinn, Sci-Fi, Scarlett…)

  • Anonymous

I had planned to buy it, but I haven’t so far. There were some reviews of the pilot that put me off. But the VTOL itself seems to have gotten pretty good reviews. So I’m torn. The coolest thing about it in the cartoon was that it was a transport. It just really bugs me that there is room for only one figure, the pilot.

As far as I know, they haven’t been announced yet. Yeah, bummer. I’ve heard speculation that new waves might be announced at New York Comic Con in mid-October. I’ll go ahead and place a bet on a November 2011 wave 3, consisting of, I don’t know…6 figures. And one of them will be Scarlett. This is all a major case of wishful thinking, BTW.

  • Anonymous

I think the GI Joe Collectors’ Club is releasing Footloose as part of its subscription. I don’t know the particulars though, as I probably won’t be subscribing.

I see this week they have been announced as Scarlett, Trooper, Tunnel Rat, Ripcord, Techno Viper and Storm Shadow in the first December wave.

The gems for me are Lifeline, Airtight and Sci-Fi, so I’m a bit disappointed, but I liked Renegades, too, so it’s all good…
