Welcome to another exciting installment of What’s on Joe Mind! It’s tough to believe we’ve gone through 87 regular episodes (not to mention almost 40 special editions) but here we are.
We talk to the fine folks from Cobra’s 1st Legion Cosplay group, get to some good old fashioned G.I. Joe news and go through our favorite figures and vehicles from 1987. Check out our Podbean page or hit the embedded player below. Show notes, as always, are after the jump.
Every year the guys from What’s on Joe Mind release a special edition podcast to talk about the G.I. Joe convention, coinciding with the actual convention announcement. This year was no different.
Joining us on this show are three G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe Collectors Club, and G.I. Joe Convention experts, Barry, Dave, and Todd from the Regular Joes Podcast! Between all of us, there’s 60 years of JoeCon experience! We had a great discussion during this episode, talking about old school JoeCon memories, the whole 12″ vs. 3 3/4″ rivalry and a bunch of other great informative topics. We absolutely loved having them on, and if you like what you hear on this show, absolutely check out the Regular Joes Podcast. Hit Podbean or listen to the embedded player below, and the show notes will be after the jump.
Yes, it’s been a while since the guys from What’s on Joe Mind got an episode out, but trust me, this one was worth waiting for.
We bring on several industry experts all crammed into one three hour marathon of G.I. Joe goodness. Andrew, Erik, Trina, and Dave from Boss Fight Studios lend their expertise to the episode as well as David Lane from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club. This is an episode you do not want to miss.
The G.I. Joe news front has been somewhat quiet in recent weeks, so some of the parts of Episode 85 of the What’s on Joe Mind podcast dip back in time just a little bit. But then again some of the discussion here is timeless. We speak to former Hasbro designer Rick Schad who gives us some great insight into his time on G.I. Joe, and of course, with it being episode 85, we pick our favorite figures and vehicles from 1985! Vintage love for you.

It feels like it’s been forever, probably because…well, it’s been forever, but the latest episode of the What’s on Joe Mind podcast is officially online! Nearly three hours devoted to some great G.I. Joe discussion with a healthy injection of Kre-O/Lego love from Brickarms, and some great Marvel SDCC talk with our old buddy Arune.
As always check out the episode on our Podbean Page, or it is also embedded below. Click the “Read More” link for the Show Notes.
OH MY GAWD! THA UMBRAGE! That’s right, Joe fans, producer and editor Gary put in some extra hours at the editing desk this week and was able to get out two episodes in one week. It’s almost like convention season.
In truth, a big reason why we wanted to get this episode is out is that we speak with Frank Patz, who is hosting EternalCon in Long Island this weekend. We wanted to get the word out there quick as this sounds like a great show featuring lots of toys, activities, and a special IMax screening of Operation Red Retrieval by big friend of the program Mark Cheng. But wait, that’s not all! On the heels of the dramatic ComicCon Exclusive reveals last week, we went right to the source and brought on USA Today Geek Pride correspondent (that should be his actual title) Brian Truitt. We break down exactly how these ComicCon exclusives get revealed and talk lots of good G.I. Joe talk. As always, check out the latest episode on Podbean, or the embedded players below. Show Notes are after the jump.
G.I. Joe news over the past few weeks has been dominated by the Figure Subscription Service…whether it was the last shipments of FSS 1.0 or the exciting reveals of FSS 2.0, there’s been a bunch of talk about all of these figures, but a noticeable lack of that talk on the What’s on Joe Mind podcast. Well, with Episode 81 we are changing that in a big way with a huge Figure Subscription Service special! Not only are we talking FSS, but we brought in Erik Arana from Boss Fight Studios (one of the design brainiacs behind the new head sculpts for FSS 2.0) to discuss past and future FSS offerings as well.

Yeah, we know this episode was a long time coming, but hopefully it was worth the wait! I can’t quite describe how excited we were on the podcast when Bill Ratner actually reached out to us and wanted to come back on to discuss the events at JoeCon. So moved was Mr. Ratner by the reaction of the fans at JoeCon, that he really wanted to come and talk about it, and we could not have been happier to be the conduit for that conversation. Much less of an interview, and more a great conversation with a voice acting legend, it was a great discussion.
But that’s only the tip of the iceberg for this episode. Along with Bill Ratner, we also had a very unique opportunity to talk to Lanny from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club. Fresh off of the experiences at JoeCon, and neck-deep in the Figure Subscription Service 2.0 reveals, we get some terrific design insight and some very honest discussion about Lanny’s collecting background, experience, and his work with the Collectors Club. It was a terrific talk, to be sure.
Along with both of these great guests, we’re also joined by Kevin Watts, who comes on to talk about the New Jersey Collectors Convention and their 2013 Salvo exclusive! Yes, this episode truly has it all. Check it out on Podbean, or via the embedded players below. Don’t forget to click the Read the Rest of the Story link below for the show notes.
Just to show what kind of whirlwind the past month has been, I somehow neglected to post that Episode 79 of What’s on Joe Mind was released! Featuring the impressive vocal talents of the immortal Brian Cummings, we talk about his role as Dr. Mindbender in the Sunbow series, and have a lengthy discussion about codpieces.
But that’s not all! We also bring our good Marvel buddy Arune Singh on to talk about Iron Man 3, C2E2 and get prepared for the upcoming ComicCon. Check out this latest episode on our Podbean page, or the embedded players below. As always, Show Notes are after the jump.
We talked about it quite a bit leading up to the 2013 G.I. Joe Convention in Indianapolis, and now the episode is online for all of our listeners to enjoy! The What’s on Joe Mind crew held a panel at JoeCon where we interviewed Brian Savage from the G.I. Joe Collectors Club, took input from the audience, and generally had a great time.
Check out this Special Edition episode on our Podbean page, or the embedded links below. Show Notes are at the bottom.
During this year’s JoeCon, WOJM was allowed the very unique opportunity to host a panel for the attendees. Thus, “WOJM Live!” was born. Join Mike, Justin and Gary as they interview the GIJCC’s own “Headman,” Mr. Brian Savage himself. Yes, for the first time ever, the club submits to an interview…what will they say? Following the interview, we send Mike out into the crowd to talk about your one-word issues. What will the randomness result in when our own “Roving Mike” put a microphone in front of a stranger’s mouth? So in case you’ve missed it (like Chuck), here is WOJM on-stage debut at the 2013 JoeCon in Indy! Enjoy!
