I’m not necessarily convinced we’ll see a full blown video game in time for G.I. Joe: Retaliation theatrical release, but according to HissTank.com, trademarks are in place for such an event. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has revealed trademark 85512818, with information in regards to G.I. Joe: Retaliation trademarks:
“Interactive entertainment software, namely computer game software, computer game programs, computer game cartridges, computer game discs; interactive multimedia computer game programs; downloadable software for use in connection with computer games, communication devices and mobile telephones; computer game software for use with communication devices and mobile telephones, video game programs, video game software, video game cartridges; pre-recorded laser and video discs featuring animated cartoon series.”
Now, this could mean any matter of things…it could be mobile games for the Apple IOS and Android, or perhaps even Facebook games or viral marketing techniques. I would think that if a full blown video game was being released, we might have known about it by now, but I could be wrong.
Full details for the Rise of Cobra game came out in February, 2009 but that film was released a bit later in the year. Still, with Toy Fair on the horizon, chances of this info getting out soon are very good.
Hopefully we’ll hear more details in a few short weeks at Toy Fair. Meanwhile, let speculation run wild!

Wow. Now maybe someone remembers me talking about this already, but I don’t think I did.
With the launch of the first G.I. Joe film in 2009, Electronic Arts released a licensed game as companies are wont to do, and the game was pretty widely panned as these licensed games generally are. However, one cool thing about the game, in my opinion, was the designs of the characters. They took the Rise of Cobra aesthetic and tweaked it a bit with more military elements to pretty good effect.
But, thanks to notpicard and Greg from What’s on Joe Mind who pointed this art site to me, there was a nice amount of unused concept art that completely and totally ROCKED. Stuff that wasn’t used in the game. Sure, a lot of it walked that line between current military realism and future technology, but I’ll be damned if every one of these concepts isn’t really bad ass. I would kill to see some of this stuff in toy form.
You can find the gallery at CGHub.com and I’ve also mirrored many images below. There are a ton of great pictures hosted at the site, you should definitely check it out. Now I feel like I want to go home and play this game again!

Along with the aforementioned Baroness focused episode, Hasbro has also posted the 8th installment of G.I. Joe: Operation: HISS, this time featuring a showdown of Storm Shadow vs…. Kamakura?! Sweet. Love seeing those somewhat obscure Joes getting their due.
And yeah, as much as the G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra video game didn’t inspire much love among the fandom, I did enjoy the costumes they used (a neat mixture of the movie themed Reactive Armor, and some more toy-centric colors). Since these are obviously the same models they used for the video game, it’s neat to see Kamakura sporting those togs here, too.
Check out the episode right here, and I’ve mirrored some images below.
And yes, if I go through the trouble of screen-capping even these cheesy mini-webisodes, can you just imagine the kind of treatment Renegades will get once it hits? It’ll be epic, I promise you.

One of the biggest incentives to going to the Convention this year was the fact that the first 500 convention goers got a free tour of the Hasbro offices! Having this tour with Botcon a few years ago, I kind of knew what to expect, but I still came away with some awesome information and experiences from the Joe side. The tour was broken up into several groups of 20 people, and we were each marched around various tour locations and given a great presentation at each stop.
I will do my best to remember what the various sections were, but please bear with me if my memory is fuzzy. It was damn early in the morning after an equally damn late night the night before! I will post pictures where pictures were allowed, but keep in mind, some places did not want photography. Click on the Read the rest of this entry link below to check it all out! Beware, this post is image intensive.

In real life world, 10 years sometimes can go by in a flash…although a lot has changed for me personally since 2000, it still seems like it just flew by. I’ve gained a wife, 2 children, moved back to my hometown, gone through two different jobs, lost 125 pounds, and completely changed my career path and overall life philosophy. Yet, it still kinda feels like yesterday.
In G.I. Joe world, however, the past 10 years might as well have been 5 separate lifetimes. It’s been a roller coaster ride for certain since the 2000′s began, and this decade has been absolutely loaded with G.I. Joe related events. So what are the ten most important events of the past 10 years? Here they are, in my opinion (below the jump):

I’ve had my mitts on this game for over a week now, but haven’t had more than an hour or two per night to hack at it…wanting to wait until I got through a solid chunk of it, I’m just getting to the review today.
I know video game websites have been slamming this game left and right, but trust me when I say, I think Joe fans will find a LOT to love, especially folks who enjoyed the Rise of COBRA. Characters from the film are pulled directly to your video game screen, plus a ton of cameos for characters that didn’t even get a sniff of screen time. Recondo, Snow Job, Dusty, Stalker, Dataframe, Wild Bill, Lift Ticket, Shipwreck, Kamakura, Flash, Helix, the list goes on and on. Firefly makes an appearence on the COBRA side, along with Night Creepers, Red Ninjas and other assorted baddies. I honestly think that folks who are into G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA will really enjoy this game, in spite of some questionable graphics and sketchy game play.
Not sure I’d recommend dropping sixty bucks on it, but it’s a very fun game, regardless. Check out the full review here.

For folks who think the new G.I. Joe: The Rise of COBRA game looks like fun, but they’re not sure it’s worth the $60.00, according to JoeCanuck.com, Dell has the PS3 and X-Box 360 versions of the game ON SALE NOW for $32.99! This includes free shipping! Sale ends tomorrow, so get going, post haste:
I can’t post a review of the game until tomorrow, but it’s pretty fun! A mindless, very arcade-like shooter that ain’t deep and thought-provoking, but so far, it has been fun. More details to come.
