Welcome to GeneralsJoes.

My name is Justin, and I’ve been collecting little plastic army men for going on twenty-six years now…and if after reading that, you’re still sticking around and taking this seriously, more power to ya.  ;)

I’ve been heavily involved in the internet G.I. Joe world for over ten years now, and GeneralsJoes has been alive in some form or fashion for 9 of those 10 years.  Initially a clunky old Angelfire site, I now pride myself on being one of the best sources for G.I. Joe news, opinions, and information on the web.  If you need to contact me, please feel free to for any reason whatsoever:

Email Me.

I also have a number of other contributors to the site, Mike, Gary, and Carlos, but you’ll get to know them better as they start contributing content on a more regular basis.

Slackers.

Sir, your blog is impeading on the intellectual property of Jonathan Wilks Turk, and Dr. Henry Edward Miller. Do not be alarmed this goes to every G.I. Joe related blog, however your tagline of “A BLOG ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE [OR UNIMPORTANCE] OF LITTLE PLASTIC MEN” is far tool close to the Smash The State tagline, which has been in use for over 15 years. Yours has been in use for less than one day.

Your website was the one that got me back into joe collecting about two years ago. I read your dios and reviews on a regular basis and have Generals Joes my number one site for joe reviews. Keep up the good work Justin!

    Thanks, Doug!

What’s up Justin? That’s right, don’t let the man keep you down…

But, why would I keep you down…

  • RH

Your site is awesome. I had a couple of questions about your dio-stories. Can you send me an email?
    Thanks

Justin, I love the new look, “new” purpose, and new everything about this little site of yours. I’ve been reading your reviews and following your madness on the ‘Net through boards and such for the better part of a decade now (meet you in ‘Nawlins was nice too), I remember when your site wasn’t even called General’s Joe yet, and my, you’ve come a long way. ;)
Yeah, this new blog style version of the site has me hooked in a new way though, it’s now on my daily “hit list” of sites I have to check every day.

Little question about your site. Did you have to get permission from Hasbro to put your diostories online? If so where does one go? If not is there a blurb or simmilar to state that you don’t have the OK from Hasbro?

  • http://n/a gung.heaux

i know some dont like spoilage, and this could be considered such…so i email this to you.

to the best of the knowledge of the contributors of generalsjoes….

the mouth on the snake eyes costume…
is that his actual mouth, or is it sculpted into the mask for effect?
    also…
do we know if the visor is ever shown up? off? and does it serve a purpose (perhaps as a HUD) other than “disguise”?

im thinking any solid info on these questions may be able to be answered if anyone there has read the novelization.

thanks guys for your time and for a wonderful site!

    Justin,
Hey dude just wanted to say great site. I have kept up with it for several years. I got a quick question to see if you can answer? The rubber piece that “plugs” into the bicep,on the 25th Joes, how do you connect the forearm back to it? Please help me on this. Thanks James

  • Danny

    Justin,

Yo. First, I want to say that I think your site is great and I really think you do the best Joe reviews on the net.

With that said, I was wondering, now that we’ve seen all the 25th Anniversary figures we’re going to see, what your favorite and least favorite figures are for the entire run. I’d love to see your top 10 lists of favorite joes, favorite cobras and least favorite figures and your reasons why. Maybe you can post them on slow news days . . .

Keep up the good work and congratulations on the baby!

    Slaughters_Renegade on the Terror Dromehttp://generalsjoes.com/2009/09/24/kick-ass-customs-of-the-week-slaughters_renegade/
are any of these custom figures available for purchase?

  • Jason

Justin, I like your reviews and I enjoyed seeing the pre-productions of Desert Zartan and Jungle Storm Shadow. I liked the fact with Zartan that you recognized and suggested the idea of a custom Lowlight. But what I didnt see is any mention to how this figure is almost spot on for a 1987 “Raptor” figure, Cobra’s Falconer. Thats what I love about the figures now, even though Hasbro has seemingly moved on from the 25th line, they are still supplying us with what I like to call, pieces to the puzzle, so we can customize our favorites that were never created or help modify the ones they did into better versions.
Anyway, again thanks for the reviews
    Jason

    Hey Justin,

MonkeybarTV.com has 2 new GI JOE comics featuring Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow. The titles are Silent Cover and Silent Intrusion. Both characters seem to be based on ROC yet different. Storm Shadow has the more unique look. Both are cool! Check it out!

Hey Justin, I’ve been following your site for about 5 or 6 years now and I have to say it rocks. I look at it every day to see whats new with the “little plastic men”. I’m a 32 year old Australian and probably have no right being obssessed with a real AMERICAN hero but I can’t help it, the characters and stories are some of the best I’ve ever seen. I collected joe toys when i was a kid and they were the one stable thing in an other wise unstable youth. Unfortunatly and regrettably I sold all of my joes as a teenager and thought that was the end of an era. I still collected the marvel comics even spending my entire pay one week when I found a whole pile of older comics in the only comic shop within 100km of where I live. When i first stumbled across your website and read your dio stories I regretted selling my joes even more, I wanted to make my own dio story with my own spin on it but I thought it was only a pipe dream. I kept on going to all the toy stores in my area to see if the joes would make a come back in my country but apart from dribs and drabs at Toys’r'us there was nothing. I picked up what I could of the Spy troops and V v V but nowhere near enough to start my own dio. Then 25th hit and for a long time all I had were your reviews and photos to keep my passion alive, I wasn’t sure how long it would last, would it last long enough to see some of my favorite characters produced or would Hasbro just release the main characters in this new and (in my opinion) superior format? To my surprise we started to get many of the characters I was hoping for. The figure that realy made my decision for me was the Lady Jaye that came in the DVD box set, before that figure none of the female figures realy appealed to me and in my verse the female characters are an integral part. So (to my delight) I began my new collection and started work on my own dio story. I currently have nearly every joe and vehicle produced since the start of the 25th thanks to online shopping (though that American dollar is killing me but sacrifices must be made) and have started my dio. So I have a few questions for you, first is how is your dio comming along? You havn’t posted anything about it for a while and I know you have been busy with a new born and Joecon (jealous as) and I now know how much work goes into a dio now but I’m realy looking foward to seeing what comes next and your new sets look awesome. Second I was wondering if I could get some advice about my dio that I am working on? If you could contact me that would be great. Thanks.

    Hello,

I am seeking information regarding this news item:

    http://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/gi-joe-movie-2/gi-joe-2-leaked-script-is-fake-9531/

Basically I’m putting out an APB on this script, it’s clear from the discussion threads that fandom wants to read this for themselves. If you have any information please contribute. That is all…

Any chance of seeing reviews of the classic figures from the original line. You always talk about how your a bit of devotee of the 90′s Neon Era. I was wondering if you ever picked up the STREET FIGHTER line that popped up 1993 ? An if you did, what you thought of them ? Interesting to know now that the line of characters is reaching its 20th anniversary next year.

  • FredPerri

You gotta check out the stopmotion animation of this guy and his custom built dioramas for the 4 GI JOE: PURSUIT OF COBRA MISSIONS.

The head on Dr. Venom looks to be that of Liu Kang from Hasbro’s GI joe related
Mortal Kombat line, with brown hair instead of black and the neck ball removed.
I’d recognize that strand of hair on the forehead anywhere.

  • Shawn Lovell

I’ve recently been reading your dio-stories and you left me wanting more. I fully understand the time and preperation it takes to undergo that kind of project and was wondering where the story goes after Ghost. What happens to Vypra, what will Cobra do after they find out her and her brother worked with G.I. Joe, will Zartan ever get his revenge on Barrel Roll, what was it that Destro was planning? So many questions left unanswered. Is there a fan fict written that answers these questions, I would love to at least see the outcome of the Eclispe operation. Keep up the great work!

  • stuart

I have been following your site for over a year now, and though I may disagree with one or two of your reviews, I still use it for a reference before going out and buying a figure or vehicle. I have started a website of my own, and refer back to your site quite often when posting news or reviews of my own. Keep up the good work.

  • Laury

My son has a 1996 12″ G I Joe US Army Infantry figure. It says it comes with an M-16 with 203 granade launcher, but I don’t think his came with that. Instead, his has a pistol and he is wearing a rubber belt with the pistol holder and other stuff. Did some of these come with different things? Thanks for your reply.

  • http://www.flickr.com/photos/wolf-norway Ricardo Duque

    Greetings from Norway!

Your website is a beacon in the sea of information there is out there on GI joe. Although I know YoJoe is excellent for references and listing, your website’s content in terms of news and reviews is unparalleled. The last 12 months I have adopted the habit of checking your website 5 – 10 times a day. Here in Norway I have no chance to go look up the latest figures at the store so I need your website for references as to what I will purchase or not. And more importantly: your opinions are those of a true connoiseur. I cannot thank you enough!

Thank you endlessly for your efforts and for your dedication to this great hobby. You are a hero in my book sir.

    Ricardo.
