Derryl DePriest gets refreshingly candid in JoeCon interview

One of the benefits of JoeCon is an opportunity to get some face time with the folks that control the fate of your favorite brand. In many cases interacting with Hasbro representatives results in a lot of understandable marketing speak. They are there, after all, to support their company and maintain the image and reputation of who they are there representing.

I’ve always been impressed by the way G.I. Joe representatives have handled themselves at various conventions, both as a credit to them and to their Public Relations folks.

But the frank and honest way Derryl DePriest approached questions about the fate of the 12″ toyline with the Patches of Pride impresses me most of all. He manages to maintain his professionalism, but gets incredibly honest and forthright about the current state of 12″ collecting and the potential future of 12″ figures at retail (hint… there ain’t one).

He’s frank about fan support for the 12″ line (or lack thereof) and Hasbro’s priorities when it comes to fans and shareholders. It’s an illuminating look into what goes into certain decisions, and I’m sure it has raised the eyebrows of many a Real American Hero fan, as we wonder just how far behind the 12″ fans we are.

This was a fantastic conversation, honest and transparent, and huge kudos to Derryl for telling it like it is, and thanks to The Joe Report at Patches of Pride for transcribing and posting.

Good stuff. Check it out here.

Boss Fight hits Hong Kong!

We’ve all heard vague references to those Asian factories which actually are the cogs that produce the toys that we all love so much. But rarely do we get a real first hand glimpse of what they look like and what goes on there.

Well, Erik and Dave from Boss Fight Studio are paying a visit to Hong Kong, checking out the factory that’s making the Vitruvian HACKS action figures, and has sent along some fantastic images of their experience! In those images we see some great early examples of Vitruvian HACKS parts and pieces, as well as a glimpse of a never before seen abdomen piece to connect a male body with the Gorgon snake tail!

Super cool.

Check out all these great images below, drool alongside with me and then start running circles around the room because you can’t wait until these are released. TEASE FIGHT STUDIO GO!
