Ten long days until Daredevil hits Netflix and the world of the Marvel television universe is forever altered.
Today must have been embargo day, because various outlets are reporting out their Daredevil reviews, and amazingly, impressively, they are unanimously positive. Not just positive, but, like, Daredevil changes the dynamic of streaming television positive.
I think secretly I was hoping that Daredevil might set the Netflix world on fire, but I couldn’t be sure. It sounded like they had the right people involved…the right vibe. The right atmosphere. They chose the right era of Daredevil’s history and seemed to have a good grasp on the meat and potatoes of the character itself.
All that work is apparently paying off, as reviews all over the web today are singing the praises of the new show. I’ll post a few links below.
Aaron Berg recently worked on a script entitled Section 6, diving into the origins of British spy agency MI6, so he seems to have that dark ops history in his back pocket. While he’s a new writer, Berg has received lots of praise (and a reported 7 figure deal) for his Section 6 script and seems to be a hot ticket in Hollywood right now. Rumor is, Hugh Jackman is very interested in Section 6, so Berg’s name carries at least some weight.
What does this mean for the film? Tough to say. Having a script writer with this pedigree (even if it based off only a single script) is a great start. Already cycling through Wernick/Reese, Dougherty, and now Berg, one has to wonder just what the plans are for the third G.I. Joe film. But with all of these musical chairs, perhaps fans can hold on to some hope that Paramount is desperately trying to do things right?
How this will potentially impact production remains to be seen. Early rumors were that production would begin early this year, but if they’re just barely bringing in (another) script writer, that seems highly dubious at best. It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out, and let’s hope the third G.I. Joe film doesn’t get stuck in some kind of development black hole.
It was a simpler time…it was the late 90s/early 00s and I was a Beast Wars fanatic. I had aggressively consumed all Beast Wars toys at retail, even brought some in from Japan, and was officially a Beast Wars fanatic.
And then I stumbled across the world of Botcon exclusives, and I suddenly realized that as much as I loved Beast Wars, I was just never going to have them all. Packrat was one of the first exclusive figures I saw and I fell in love with the idea, even as the secondary market cost spiraled out of my grasp.
So for Botcon to be revisiting the idea here in 2015 makes sense, especially with a fantastic source figure in the Transformers: Generations Rattrap. I absolutely love that blue and gold combination, too… Packrat looks pretty gorgeous.
Botcon.com has revealed Packrat as an exclusive for the upcoming Transformers Convention this summer. Check out Botcon.com for the details, and the image and great video are mirrored below.
