GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #210

It’s been a great couple of weeks for G.I. Joe comics!  Last week we were treated to the first issue of Costa’s excellent Snake Eyes: Agent of Cobra, and this week Serpentor makes his abrupt return in G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.  Combine all this with Karen Traviss’ great work of political intrigue in the main series, and Tom Scioli’s certifiably insane Transformers/G.I. Joe amalgamation, and there’s truly something for everyone.

Check out my review of the latest ARAH issue after the break!

So did Boss Fight Studio just drop a bomb about upcoming HACKS series?

It seems to have flown somewhat under the radar, but over on the Boss Fight Studio Facebook Page, Catrina, one of the members of BFS made what appears to be an innocuous post:

On the surface it doesn’t look like much, but check the hashtag… “‪#‎HicSuntDracones‬”.

For those unfamiliar, the term Hic Sunt Dracones was often placed on ancient maps showing the presence of danger. Translated from Latin, however, it literally means “Here Be Dragons”..

Could this be some kind of hint that we may be getting dragons in the Vitruvian HACKS line?  They have shown off several fantasy related designs as follow ups to the Greek Mythology concept.

Very interesting….stay tuned!  I know I will.

New Image of upcoming Captain Action 4″ Figure and Silver Streak

Through the Kickstarter craze of 2014 we heard about two properties primed for relaunch in 2015, both of which had Boss Fight Studio along for the ride. Both Eagle Force and Captain Action are bracing for Kickstarter launches this year, and the folks from Zica Toys have posted a new image of Captain Action with his trusty vehicle, the Silver Streak.

According to the Zica Toys Facebook Page, we should be expecting the Kickstarter to launch “soon”.

Check out the image below, and let’s get ready for an exciting year!

Great new images of unreleased Cobra HISS Launcher ROC PIT Repaint

A couple of years ago at the G.I. Joe Convention, Hasbro revealed some concept work for an unreleased repaint of the Rise of Cobra PIT Playset. While the Pit itself was mostly looked down upon by the G.I. Joe fandom (a treatment I don’t fall in line with), I think most fans found the Cobra repaint(s) pretty intriguing.

To this point, though, we only had blurry phone pics of a slideshow to base that opinion on. But no longer!

Thanks to the Eagle Eyes of Brian Hickey, a gallery with some larger, clearer pictures has been linked on the Facebook G.I. Joe Discussion Group, and I’ve mirrored them below. As much as I enjoyed the original RoC Pit Playset, this Cobra repaint does indeed look even more bad ass.

Look, I may be a bit biased… my memory of the Pit is my then-four year old daughter spending three hours putting the stickers on with me, and it’s one of my fonder G.I. Joe memories, but even without that, I think the Pit has some fun qualities, especially if fans can think of it more like an updated Mobile Command Center, and not so much like the ultimate G.I. Joe headquarters.

At any rate, check out the images of the Cobra themed repaint below.

What’s On Joe Mind Special Edition 43 – BOSS FIGHT!

It’s been only about a week since the unfortunate delay of Boss Fight Studio’s Virtuvian HACKS line was announced. There have been many rumors and hypotheses for what might have happened, so the WOJM guys decided to go right to the source.

Erik and Dave from Boss Fight Studio joined Justin, Gary, and Mike to talk about the delay, and yes, to also get excited about what’s still to come.

Also, as a special surprise, they revealed artwork for a never before seen HACKS Wave 2 Barbarian action figure! You can check out that image below the Show Notes.

Check out the Special Edition on our Podbean Page or embedded below.

SHOW NOTES

Erik and Dave from Boss Fight Studios stop by to update us on Vitruvian HACKS, Eagle Force and Caption Action.  We also spend an unhealthy but comical amount of time talking about Conference Championship Weekend in the NFL (before the Patriots cheated again), Zorro the Gay Blade and Hall & Oates…yes, you read that right – Hall & Oates.  Enjoy!

GeneralsJoes Reviews Snake Eyes: Agent of Cobra #1

A new year and another new take on the G.I. Joe universe from IDW.  This issue takes the character of Snake Eyes and puts a twist on him, ripping him from the side of the angels and placing him in league with Destro and Cobra.

But are Destro and Cobra even on the same page, or will the ex G.I. Joe Commando be stuck in a twisted terrorist triangle?

Check out the review of the first issue after the jump…you might be surprised at how I felt.

GeneralsJoes Reviews FSS 3.0 Shipment #1

Do I need to maintain spoiler control still?

It’s been a week since the information got out onto the web about who was in the first shipment of the G.I. Joe Collectors Club FSS 3.0…  and some might say a week isn’t quite enough time.

So, for the sake of trying to keep a level of surprise for folks, I won’t mention WHO is in the shipment on this page, but if you click over to the G.I. Joe Collectors Club Review Page you can see who came first, and check out reviews for both figures.

Preview for IDW Publishing’s Snake Eyes: Agent of Cobra #1

It’s almost time!

If you’d asked me a year ago if anything could make me look forward to a book that seems to revolve around G.I. Joe’s over-exposed mute Ninja superhero I would have said that I couldn’t think of a single thing.

Well, turns out there is a single thing, and that single thing is Mike Costa.  His involvement in this project alone has put it firmly on my must read list and tomorrow I’ll be able to read it!

Meanwhile, check out the preview below which is already captivating, showing a side of Destro we haven’t yet seen.
