Sideshow Collectibles has discharged G.I. Joe…at least for now

The Year of the Snake has provided some of the best G.I. Joe Sideshow product we have seen to date, which is why it’s such a shame that G.I. Joe’s obscurity from retail has now extended to Sideshow Collectibles 12″ offerings.  At least for the next six months.

Sideshow Collectibles has announced that they will have no new G.I. Joe related news at SDCC this year, which means nothing of note until 2015 at the earliest.  As someone who just bought Major Bludd and is slated to get Destro in the mail on Wednesday, I’m disappointed by the news, but not necessarily surprised.

A quick perusal on the G.I. Joe section at will show you that many of their offerings are still in stock, and most of those offerings have been there for a while.  So, stay tuned, perhaps something cool will be coming next year, but for now, anyway, the disappearance of G.I. Joe at the 12″ scale has been extended to all formats.  Sound taps now.

Thanks to YT24 on Twitter for the heads up.

  1. I kind of figured this was coming. They’ve gone through a lot of the A-list characters – I really hope it makes a comeback, even if they tighten up the production run.

  2. Doesn’t surprise me either. With the prices jumping like they are, I’m surprised it lasted this long. Not sure why (since I’m more of a joe fan than anything) but I’d rather drop $150 on a Boba Fett or predator from sideshow…… it’s weird, I know…….

  3. I am disappointed in this. I am hoping they come back to do a few more figures. I would like to see a Scarlet, Gung Ho, Roadblock, Dr. Mindbender, a BAT, and Xamot/Tomax.
