GeneralsJoes Reviews G.I. Joe: Retaliation “Ultimate” Roadblock and Firefly

The reviews continue this week for the recently released G.I. Joe: Retaliation “Super Wave” 3.5 which contains a whopping 12 brand spanking new figures.  Using a great mixture of new tooling and existing tooling, this robust assortment is chock full of movie accurate figures, terrific accessories, and lots of stuff for collectors to love.

Today I’m taking a look at the self-proclaimed “Ultimate” Roadblock and Firefly, both from this wave, and both based on their G.I. Joe: Retaliation film appearances.  Check out the G.I. Joe: Retaliation Review Page, or hit the links below to go direct.

  • Love this picture!

I’ve always felt that POC was the best Hasbro has done but damn, looking at that picture of them standing side by side and having the opportunity to hold the 3.5s myself, wow… Hasbro sure outdid themselves. BRAVO!

I can’t wait to see what improvements they’ll come up with for the next line.

  • SmokePants

This is the second Firefly I’ve noticed with the same QC issue where there’s a fleshy break in the lining of the mask dead center above the eyes. Also, yours seems to be missing apps on the straps on the inner part of the right thigh.

I would troop build that Firefly if not for the glossy/flat mismatch on the legs. I noticed that a couple of months ago and now can’t un-see it.

I think someone said a while ago Roadblock’s accessory was meant to clamp onto table tops. Or something. That was based on how Hasbro was using it in one of their displays and not on first-hand knowledge.

  • Well, the Agent Mouse one was designed to clamp, but the Roadblock one is different:

  • SmokePants

Must be a confabulated memory of mine.

Someday I’m going to MacGyver something useful out of all this string, plastic, and springs.

  • ero

OK, fess up: Where did you get that Cobra Commander??

  • I’m with ero; it’s cruel the way you casually drop these badass customs into your reviews.

  • Fredperri

Yeah i’m with ero & monte! Where did u get that cobra commander?

Its a great custom & whoever made it has a great talent!

I’m curious about cc as well, but why does destro have white hair and Xavier’s body? Any ways you just convinced me on both these figures, thanks!

  • jfaria

I think that CC is the head from the Retaliation-HISS-driver-CC, on a ROC Storm Shadow body (modified), with Retaliation Storm Shadow arms. If I’m right, do I win a copy of that custom? It does look like a pretty movie accurate figure.

  • Matt Cargile

I’ve been admiring the Commander custom, as well Justin. Nearly bought a clearance Hiss from Target the other day to replicate it, but opted for clearance 3 packs instead.
Does Roadblock have the crossbones on the back of his vest?

  • I too want to know about he Cobra Commander. BTW the site has been having problems today… I’ve tried to post this 5 times already and always get an error…

  • Yeah, I had the dreaded error screen make another appearance or two today, too.

  • Ha! Glad you guys like the custom. It uses the following formula:

Head – HISS Tank Cobra Commander
Torso – Rise of Cobra Storm Shadow
Arms – Retaliation Wave 1 Storm Shadow
Legs – Rise of Cobra Storm Shadow
Jacket – Rise of Cobra Storm Shadow with the front flap cut away with an exacto
Collar – G.I. Joe: Resolute Beachhead

From there it was cracking the torso, putting the arms on, and a healthy dose of black paint. Glad you guys liked it!

  • Ack, sorry…. the legs are from Pursuit of Cobra Cobra Commander…
