The last G.I. Joe: Battleground PVP Event has been met with some pretty vocal criticisms, mostly for the perceived uneven gameplay and buggy software that appeared to permeate the entire event. Well Mobage and DeNA are doing what they can to erase bad memories with a couple of exciting announcements over night.
First of all, folks have noticed a grayed out area called the “Florida Everglades” and that grayed out area is now active, offering a wealth of more missions for both G.I. Joe and Cobra! Included in those new missions are some exciting new character cards for folks like Sneak Peek and Muskrat, and judging by the announcement image, Desert Scorpion and Recoil are in the wings as well.
To go along with the new map, G.I. Joe: Battleground is offering Double XP on all missions throughout the entire weekend, so take some time to level up your backlog of characters.
You might want to focus on levelling up the G.I. Joe side, though, as Mobage also warns us that Cobra La is coming! A new event is apparently on the horizon, and based on the shaded images, looks like we’ve got Falcon and Pythona to look forward to (among others I’m sure).
I said this in the post I made with the preview for this issue…but it seems like just yesterday we were anticipating what Fred Van Lente was going to do with IDW’s flagship G.I. Joe title, and here we are, seven issues deep, and we’ve already made it through one story arc and are on the verge of kicking off another.
Even before this issue was released it was causing some controversy, mostly based around the supposed return of G.I. Joe ninja Snake Eyes. So, were those concerns valid? Read the full review after the jump. As one might suspect, there are spoilers contained below!
So last night I was going through Comixology to make sure I was up to date on my G.I. Joe comics, and was surprised to see Real American Hero #193 had been released! For whatever reason IDW hadn’t put it out there for a Preview, so I had forgotten it was due this week. I’m glad I found it, though, because it was another great issue from Larry Hama, Sergio Cariello, and SL Gallant. Cariello took care of the majority of art chores, with Gallant filling in on the final few pages.
Check out the full review after the jump.

It feels like it’s been forever, probably because…well, it’s been forever, but the latest episode of the What’s on Joe Mind podcast is officially online! Nearly three hours devoted to some great G.I. Joe discussion with a healthy injection of Kre-O/Lego love from Brickarms, and some great Marvel SDCC talk with our old buddy Arune.
As always check out the episode on our Podbean Page, or it is also embedded below. Click the “Read More” link for the Show Notes.
G.I. Joe Kre-O sets are officially hitting around the country at your local Toys “R” Us stores, which include not just the excellent second wave of Kre-On mini figures, but also a brand new medium sized build set featuring the Ghoststriker X-16 with Cobra ASP.
As with the sets that came before it, there is a lot to love here, with some very interesting block choices, and a pair of excellent additions to your Kre-On roster.
It seems like just yesterday that we were getting a new “Season” of G.I. Joe from IDW Publishing, and here we are, seven issues deep and things are already moving at a breakneck pace. The issue hits local comic shops tomorrow, but you can see the first few pages right now.

COBRA TAKES MANHATTAN! It was inevitable once the G.I. JOE team relocated that COBRA COMMANDER would put the Big Apple squarely in his sights. But the BARONESS and DESTRO are cooking up some schemes of their own… the question is: will those schemes make them allies to DUKE and company?

Well, we now know where the Cobra La hint fits into the grand scheme of things with G.I. Joe: Battleground! DeNA revealed information today about a new PVP Event launching today, featuring Cobra La and a new Epic Shipwreck card! Check out the full details below:
Description of Shipwreck’d PvP Event
After the Joes successfully decrypted the Cobra data obtained by Snake Eyes, they learned a frightening truth. Cobra-La is still alive, active, and seething with anger and hatred for G.I. JOE. In response to this grave threat, Joe teams from around the world have scrambled to launch various assaults against known Cobra intel centers to obtain information on the whereabouts of Cobra-La. One such perilous mission involves Shipwreck and a team of commandos finding their way onto a Cobra submarine. A close quarter firefight breaks out on the sub that threatens to blow up the nuclear powered titan with all combatants still on board.
Take up a side as Joe or Cobra and fight against other Squad Leaders. Will you side with Cobra to protect Cobra-La’s nefarious plans, or will you go with the Joes to unravel and put an end Cobra-La’s comeback?
