Kick Ass Custom and Diorama – NJCC Hazard Tank and Compound Z Lab!

This past weekend the always entertaining NJCC (New Jersey Collectors’ Con) tore up New Jersey, and just like last year, the immortal Kevin Watts provided door prizes in the form of modified HISS Tanks.  This year, they focused on tanks for the 30th Anniversary Hazard Vipers, and they came out very nicely.

But as cool as the HAZARD Tanks are, this is where Kevin really knocked it out of the park.  As part of the show, Kevin build a diorama for the Compound Z Lab.  Using existing G.I. Joe playset parts, he assembled a very professional looking lab that fits the theme perfectly.

Check out the thread on and I’ve also mirrored a few images below.  Kevin does some fantastic work, I’m one of his biggest fans, and I think this is an example of some of the great stuff he can do.  Bad enough his customs are tearing it up, now he’s gotta depress me with his awesome diorama work, too.  Ah, well…

Mexican G.I. Joe: Retaliation one sheet may be my favorite one yet!

Now this poster is pretty cool.  Not a whole lot of action, just featuring mostly head shots of the cast, we get some pretty cool layout, some London damage in the background, and a very cool shot of Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow, and a masked Firefly all along the bottom.  I dig this poster big time.

Thanks to NFCJD for pointing it out, and you can find it on

And what the hell.  Still no Flint?  It’s a conspiracy, dammit!  Don’t worry, DJ Cotrona, there are fans out here who still love you.

G.I. Joe Collectors Club reveals latest 2012 Convention Exclusive figure!

Another installment in the G.I. Joe Convention exclusive roster has been revealed!  Yesterday we got some insight into the story of the Oktober Guard vs. the Iron Grenadiers, and today we are getting a look at another figure from the set.

Today we are treated to Iron Grenadier Weapons Specialist!  Based off of the Resolute Destro tooling, and once again a figure from the canceled Iron Grenadier 5-Pack, I think this figure looks a lot cooler and more “Iron Grenadier” than the one yesterday.  I actually like the looks of this one a lot and think he’ll compliment Resolute Destro pretty damn nicely.  He’s a lot darker and more nasty looking than the one we got yesterday.  Digging it.  I’m still keeping fingers firmly crossed that we see some more named characters, especially with the revelation that Destro won’t be a part of the set.  It’s looking like we might get figure reveals all throughout the rest of this week.  Sign me up!

Check out the mirrored image below, and keep watching for the latest info and the brochure.

More awesome roster additions to the G.I. Joe: Special Ops online game!

Woooah, buddy!  Just doing some random checking today, and what do I see?  The SyFy website for the upcoming G.I. Joe: Special Ops online game has updated with some incredibly cool new character art!

Some big names have been added to the rosters including Cobra Commander, Serpentor, Scarlett, and Sci-Fi!  I love that we’re getting a decidedly IDW flavor for both Cobra Commander and Serpentor, with Sci-Fi obviously having his very cool 30th Anniversary elements included.  Great, great looking stuff.

Check out the ever growing Special Ops gallery below for all of the great character art to date, including today’s additions!  I’m getting very fired up for this game to hit.

Cobra Special Forces Facebook page shows Firefly image from G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Gotta love social media.  This whole G.I. Joe: Retaliation phenomenon exploded when both Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jon M. Chu began their Twitter campaigns during the film’s production.

Well, now that filming is mostly wrapped, we have the Cobra Special Forces Facebook page, designed as a social media recruitment tool of sorts, revealing some very cool images from the G.I. Joe: Retaliation film.  To this point it’s been pictures of the Cobra Troopers…but today, we get Firefly!  An awesome image of the Cobra saboteur from what looks like a scene after he blows up the building with the Cobra motorcycle.  Check out the image below, and make sure you’re dialed into Cobra Special Forces on Facebook as well!

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club confirms no Destro in this year’s Convention Set

With the revelation yesterday that the G.I. Joe Collectors Club is using the canceled Iron Grenadier 5-Pack as an apparent source of inspiration for the 2012 Convention set, many Joe fans were a bit concerned that this meant Destro would be making another appearance in a Convention set, perhaps pushing aside another character that was more desired.

Well, on their Facebook page today, the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club put those fears to rest:

Doug Monroe : Dave- By this late date it is unlikely we could influence any change of the selection of figures for the box set but, even though I am completely excited to see IG Vs. OG I agree we do not need another Destro if it means giving up an unmade character- especially if the Destro is the one from the cancelled set- the head on that figure is awful. If the cancelled Destro’s head was replaced on the same body it would be a neat figure.

GIJoeCon (Official) : Doug is correct. The set has been SET long before now. No Destro.

So, there you have it.  No Destro in this year’s Convention set!  I love hearing that, as it means another slot for a potentially different character… very cool, can’t wait to see more.  Be sure to keep checking for the latest revelations.  Thanks to Caped Crusader on Twitter for the info!

G.I. Joe: Retaliation black Cobra Commander from

Well, put this firmly in the “what the what–?” column.  Apparently that formerly mysterious black Cobra Commander variant that was most recently seen as an exclusive has now started shipping in single pack form from

Toys R Us had opened some G.I. Joe: Retaliation pre-orders a little while ago, and over on solid.wii reports that he received a black single pack Cobra Commander, and another member Rodimus88 confirms the fact.  There are also images of the packaged figure and the receipt, which I’ve mirrored below.

Does this mean this Cobra Commander will be found at brick & mortar?  It seems quite possible, but I guess time will tell.  Thanks to noted author James Kavanaugh from the RAHC Guide for linking this info.
