G.I. Joe: Retaliation Duke reviewed at Carded Heroes

As I mentioned yesterday, Jay over at Carded Heroes picked up the first wave of G.I. Joe: Retaliation figures at his local Meijer’s, and is now doing a G.I. Joe: Retaliation “theme week” to celebrate!

Today he covers Duke.  I’ve mirrored just a couple of images below, check out the full review over at Carded Heroes.

The accessories are even worse than they looked in the press pics.

    Yeah this duke is terrible.

While I concede the point that the accessories look ridiculous, and while I hardly need another Tatum head (though the paint apps make it look fairly distinct), this figure is awesome! When’s the last time we got a detailed sculpt like this that wasn’t monochrome, with the excuse that a vest or some other webgear would just cover it anyway?

I see LOTS of customizing potential here. Specifically, I could see this body being a base for a modern reinterpretation of any (or several) of the Original Thirteen.

I may be in the minority, but I love the rifle he comes with. That may be because i am a sci-fi customizer and not a realistic military customizer, but i dig it :)

YOu all know where to send your unwanted rifles…LOL

His arms look to long. Kind of like an orangutan. I dub thee “Duke the great ape”.

I don’t know if anyone watched the “Generation Kill” miniseries on HBO, but Duke’s headsculpt looks remarkably like the dimwitted “Captain America” character.
