Potential variant or running change G.I. Joe: Retaliation Cobra Commander?

Thanks to GeneralsJoes Twitter buddy Twitziller who reports that a strange version of the G.I. Joe: Retaliation Cobra Commander has emerged on eBay.  This particular figure is in various shades of black instead of blue, but otherwise appears to be the same figure as the single packed version.

This could lead to some hypothesis that there are other G.I. Joe: Retaliation figures that we have yet to see…perhaps this is part of some store exclusive set or later release this year?  Check out the eBay auction here, and the mirrored image is below.

    When does the variant with ankle articulation come out? That’s the one I desperately want to see!

    I have to admit this color scheme looks pretty cool though.

    I’m one of those weird dudes who prefers the Commander in black (stemming, I suspect from that wicked battlefield version of the Sigma 6 Cobra Commander), so I’ll be all over this!

    Speaking of, when will that amazon pack come out? Aren’t the toys supposedly coming out in a month? Shouldn’t a preview pack come early?

    That said, this CC fig is ripe for troop building, if you have extra heads laying around. It’s pretty nice looking.

    Since we have heard nothing else about that, I suspect it’s been canceled. Heck this could even be a canceled fig from that pack!

    There are a lotta of holes in later waves, maybe this will be in one of those as a repaint?
