G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Network television premier

USA is going to air the network television premier of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra February 4th at 8:00pm Eastern, and they’ve aired a television promo for the showing, which promptly made it to YouTube.

Interesting perspective!

  1. I have been wondering for the last year and a half where this is, I wonder why it took so long?

  2. Ha! Interesting spin.

I’m reminded of Mad Men. I watched a few seasons and loved its moodiness and time capsule appeal and the subtleties of the writing combined with a willingness to be totally audacious with the plots on occasion… and then I saw a promo for the series for the first time and every other word was “sexy”.

I mean, yeah, obviously I’d noticed that the women in the show are all attractive, but I was stunned at the extent to which that was the focus of the promotional efforts for the show.

  3. Well they had to do something.

What should they have focused on? I mean, what is truely in the film?

    Good story? Nope
    Good acting? Nope
    Cool uniforms? Nope
    Cool bad guys? Nope
    Good jokes? Nope
    Good fight scenes? Nope
    Good special effects? Nope
    Star power? Nope
Hot chicks? BINGO! Ding! ding! Ding! We have a winner!
