In expressing my enthusiasm to see a trailer for next year’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation film, I had an opportunity to Tweet back and forth with the film’s director Jon Chu, and he recommended that if we want to see the trailer for the film, we should Tweet @ParamountPics and let them know.
So how about it, Joe fans? Can we get together and let Paramount know that we want to see this thing?
Those of you with Twitter accounts, hit up ParamountPics and let them know! If you don’t have Twitter, sign up and let’s do this!
Double the Chuck, double the fun!
Joined by Chuck from the Star Joes podcast, we take some time to talk about their long-running show and introduce him to our bizarro Chuck, which goes over fairly well. Greg and Gary toss insults at each other and the whole thing goes sideways!
Oh, and we talk about G.I. Joe a little bit, too.
Episode 33 of What’s on Joe Mind is now online on Podbean.com and you can also listen to the embedded player below.
It’s looking like we might not have long to wait.
Kudos to BCYOJOE as usual over at HissTank for being on top of the trailer information. He reported a couple of weeks ago that Alberta Film Ratings posted some information about the upcoming G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer, including the length of the trailer (2.25 minutes) and the fact that it’s rated PG.
This information did create a minor poopstorm amongst the fandom, who at first were concerned that perhaps the PG Rating reflected the film instead of the trailer. Thankfully, Jon Chu took to Twitter quickly to debunk that.
Well, now, Dark Horizons, a very well established film site, has posted a story stating that a number of “Big 2012 trailers” are hitting “imminently” and that list includes G.I. Joe: Retaliation! They say they could hit either online or in cinema, and one has to wonder with another Paramount feature Mission: Impossible IV hitting theaters, could that mean the Joe trailer is attached to that?
We don’t know for sure, but however the trailer is due to come out, looks like it is hitting long before the assumed Super Bowl spot.
Do I even need to repeat how excited this news makes me? I think not. I’ll just be over here jumping up and down frantically in the corner.
Fans have been asking, and the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club is delivering!
Now that pretty much all of the card art has been revealed, the GIJCC is providing some more great close up shots of the figures that are destined to be released in the Figure Subscription Service. Today, we got a great look at Iron Klaw with his removable beret!
VERY cool. Check out some mirrored images below, but be sure to check out the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club on Facebook for even more details!
I freaking LOVE this figure. The detail work on the facemask is insane. A fantastic looking figure, for sure.
Also of note…the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club has added a Terms and Conditions page for the Figure Subscription Service. No pricing yet (except for the $20 – $25 per figure number that we’ve known about for months) but it’s a very detailed document that should answer some questions out there. Check it out right here.
So, USA Today broke the story a couple of days ago about which Cobra agent was moving from their current position to assume the mantle of Cobra Commander! Of course, along with being appointed to dictator of the ruthless terrorist organization, it’s only natural that he receive a new set of duds, too.
Robert Atkins, one of my personal favorite artists, had a hand in designing the Cobra Commander uniform (quite a bit hand) and he’s taken some time on his Blog to go through the design process, providing some incredibly cool input drawings as well.
Very cool stuff. I’ve mirrored one of the images below, but you should definitely hit up RobertAtkinsArt.Blogspot.com to check out the rest. This is a fantastic update to Cobra Commander, and I’ve got my fingers crossed that we see it in plastic form somewhere down the line.
BEWARE – ROBERT ATKINS’ BLOG POST CONTAINS SPOILERS ABOUT THE IDENTITY OF THE NEW COBRA COMMANDER. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Joe fans have been on the edge of their seats, and as usual, it’s feast or famine. Just like Waves 1 & 2 struck almost simultaneously, I received my set of Wave 3 from Big Bad Toy Store last night, and received notification that Wave 4 was now processing! How’s that for service?
Items are mostly listed in a “Pre Order” status, but they are showing up at BBTS, and promise to be hitting Kokomo Toys early next week. Buckle your seat belts, Joe fans. Wave 4 is without a doubt the strongest wave, top-to-bottom that we’ve ever seen in the modern era, and I really don’t think that’s hyperbole.
Hit up Big Bad Toy Store to check out their stock, and while you wait until the figures are available, get caught up on my advanced reviews as well!
