Hasbro held its annual Investor’s Day today, where investors are invited to a presentation by Hasbro executives looking at their slate of upcoming projects or events, and apparently some discussion revolved around G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Apparently the presentation revealed that June 29th, 2012 is now the official release date for G.I. Joe: Retaliation. We had heard that date bandied about quite a bit, but I guess it was never really official until now. Also, a somewhat different G.I. Joe: Retaliation logo was shown:
The big news, apparently, was that footage from the film was shown to folks in attendance! Now, this presentation is available online, but through audio only. Some of the folks over at HissTank listened in (I was in meetings most of the day, unfortunately) and gave a little run down of what they heard…which was not much concrete. But still exciting to know what’s on the horizon!
They report about it right here. Essentially, this is what they said:
“Sadly however, only those who attended could see it, we could only hear it. A girl was talking in the beginning of the video. The Rock’s iconic voice was heard talking in a very cool manner. Zing… a Shuriken was thrown. It was then followed by a rap song. Sword Fight!!! Machine guns going off like there is no tomorrow. The Joe team shouting “RETALIATION!” Bing-Bang-Boom. Rock music and stop. It was a good 2 minutes of tons of things happening. The crowd cheered like mad.”
So, not much info, but still some info! Sounds like we could be in for an action-packed trailer, hopefully during the Super Bowl (if not sooner!).
