G.I. Joe: Retaliation set visit footage… but wait… that’s not all!!

Whew!  Okay, movie fever has officially kicked into overdrive.

Yes, we all know about the footage that aired on Entertainment Tonight…but hitting up the ET Online website reveals that they have online content about the set visit as well!  And it’s totally different from what aired on television.

Not a whole lot more action, but some great insight from resident “BAMF” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as well as an interview with Adrianne Palicki, starring in the film as Lady Jaye.  DJ Catrona (aka Flint) also talks a bit to the camera.

Check out the embedded video below.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation boat confirmed as a Cobra vehicle

Big kudos to the folks over at HissTank.com who apparently have the high-res screen cap ability locked up!  Over in the thread here they’ve posted a number of high res screenshots, including images of the new twin-fan boat (which bears a striking resemblance to the Water Moccasin).

Careful scrutiny reveals what appears to be a Cobra symbol on the left hand side, confirming that this is indeed a Cobra vehicle.

Check out the mirrored images below with the always helpful red arrows and circles, and again, a huge thanks to the HissTank admin Destro for grabbing these screencaps and pointing this out.

Because there wasn’t quite enough Joe news tonight… a Steel Brigade variant?

Okay, when it rains it pours seems like the appropriate sentiment here.

After a relatively quiet weekend for G.I. Joe news, it has been coming fast and furious this late afternoon and evening.  Obviously highlighted by the footage from G.I. Joe: Retaliation and the revelation of the GIJCC Barrel Roll…but still some other very cool and interesting intel comes from Nirvana at HissTank.com.

Apparently at a local Wal-Mart he purchased a trio of Steel Brigade figures… with a Snake Eyes body.

Up until this point, all Steel Brigade figures had come with the Shock Trooper legs and arms with the cool elbow pads and multi-colored sleeves.  Well, apparently there just might be either a running change or a variant, and we might expect future figures to instead come with the Pursuit of Cobra Snake Eyes underneath.  An interesting development to be sure.

Check out the thread at HissTank.com and also take a peek at the mirrored images below.  Curious that he doesn’t seem to come with a pistol for that new holster, and he obviously also has the different kneepads to go along with the new legs.  A neat change, and a cool way to bring some variety to your G.I. Joe army builders.  Thanks to Gyre Viper for the heads up, who it should be noted, has a test shot with this different version of the Steel Brigade figure in his possession.

Snap judgements about the G.I. Joe: Retaliation footage

So the scant few seconds of footage has aired throughout the United States, and already I’m sure opinions are scattered throughout the ether, even based on only a few seconds of action.

Of course what kind of Joe fan would I be if I didn’t add my own uneducated .02 as early as humanly possible?

First and foremost…  every single shot we see throughout the footage involves a heavy dose of military action, which is awesome.  Roadblock is rocking his familiar body armor that we’ve seen in most images of him shown so far.  Duke is wearing what appears to be desert camouflage uniform with an embedded body armor himself.  It looks a lot like the reactive armor, but it’s tan in color, so it blends better with the more standard BDU’s.

Machine guns fire early and often, and I absolutely love the coordinated movements of the military “unit”.  Looking at that and based on Dwayne Johnson’s comments about Navy SEALs being on set, I think we’re going to get a nice dose of military realism…or as much as can be expected in a G.I. Joe film.

Without a doubt the star of the footage is the very Water Mocassin like boat that is seen in several shots.  That thing looks pretty bad ass.  Tough to tell if it belongs to the Joes or the Cobra’s based on what we saw tonight, so here’s hoping it’s a snake craft that gets stolen.

All in all, there wasn’t much shown, but what WAS shown was pretty great.  Lots of machine gun fire, explosions, and I thought both Johnson and Tatum looked really good.  Nothing revolutionary, but certainly nothing to immediately generate the reaction that the Accelerator Suits did.  Thumbs up, but eagerly awaiting more!

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Entertainment Tonight footage online in record time

So here in my neighborhood, Entertainment Tonight hasn’t even aired yet, but the footage has already hit the net!  Featuring a heaping helping of Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock and Channing Tatum as Duke, we get some cool looks at G.I. Joe in action as well as a mysterious armored watercraft bearing a strong resemblance to the Water Moccasin!

GI Joe Collectors Club reveals subscription figure #8 – Barrel Roll!

We continue full steam ahead towards the new G.I. Joe Collectors Club Figure Subscription Service (FSS) and today brings us a new figure reveal for the sub service. Today the club unveils Barrel Roll!

Obviously inspired by the DTC desert version, with some jetpack love built in, Barrel Roll obviously uses Resolute jetpack Duke for much of his tooling with the DTC version’s head sculpt.

Personally, I’ll admit I was hoping for more of a Spy Troops inspiration, but this one has all of the necessary Barrel Roll elements, and I love the tooling used.  Check out the image right here, or also mirrored below.

Big thanks to Phil from YoJoe.com for the heads up!

Carded images appear for 30th Anniversary Lifeline and Zombie Viper

It was only a short while ago that the folks over at AC Toys gave us carded images of most of Waves 3 and 4 of the upcoming 30th Anniversary figures, but noticeable by their absences were both Lifeline and Zombie Viper.

Well today that has been rectified as we get some very nice and detailed images of the undead Cobra and the G.I. Joe medic, both coming from the fourth wave of 30th Anniversary figures.  Check out the images here, or take a peek at them mirrored below.

Thanks much to The Terror Drome for the info.

First look at G.I. Joe: Retaliation on Entertainment Tonight!

It seems like forever ago that production started on the G.I. Joe motion picture sequel, but we will finally get our eyes on some actual bonafide G.I. Joe: Retaliation material tonight at 7:30pm Eastern!

Entertainment Tonight visits the G.I. Joe: Retaliation set, and while according to Comcast’s DVR services, they’re there mostly for Channing Tatum, I would assume we’ll see some good general G.I. Joe: Retaliation footage to go along with it.  Here is the official description according to Television listings:

(Airdate November 1, 2011)  Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe in “My Week With Marilyn”; on the set of “G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation,” starring Channing Tatum.”

My DVR is already set, expect some feedback as the show airs later tonight.  Needless to say, I am a bit excited. :shifty:
