G.I. Joe 30th Anniversary attacks US shores

It wasn’t all that long ago that I reported a rumor stating that the 30th Anniversary toys would be hitting domestically on or around August 16th.  Well, it’s the 21st, and while the target date of the 16th wasn’t quite right (my bad) we are starting to see the first signs of a full scale G.I. Joe 30th Anniversary invasion.

First and foremost, from HissTank.com, Lord Norin reports that he found a Black Dragon VTOL and VAMP Mark II at a local Wal-Mart!  Not only have they hit, but they are retailing for around $20.  In that same thread, many other reports of the same thing.  HissTank member umanumanamo was even cool enough to share some images and a review of the incredibly awesome Steel Brigade Delta figure.

Also, Corey Stinson from SmallJoes.com reports that Hasbro has informed him his initial allotment of 30th Anniversary figures is processing, and he expects to get them within a week or so.

Last, but not least, over at Fighting 118th, soia339 received a carded Hazard Viper from Asia, and has posted several very nice images of that as well.

So rejoice Joe fans.  The well has been dry for a little while, but we’re starting to see a trickle.  It only gets better from here!

    Glad to hear the news. For financial reasons I had to cancel my preorder, now I just have to hope I can find steel brigade, as that’s the only one I really really want.

    We still have over a dozen of Mr Freeze Destro at both nearby Target locations… I doubt we’ll see anything new for a while. :(

    I don’t think you are alone in that category; you can add missile overkill duke to that for me as well. I can’t wait to get a few of that hazard viper.

    Yeesh, SBD *badly* need some kind of paint wash to give some definition to that sculpt. With even the handle of the knife being black, it just all blends together too much.

    It’s sort of the same issue I had with PoC Beachhead, but more pronounced because the greens are flatter than the blacks and browns on that figure (and it looks much better facially). Oh, well, it’s not as though there aren’t a billion 25th Beachheads sitting around on EBay that I could just grab spare heads from….

    If there are any St. Louis area Joe collectors out there reading this, I bought a VAMP at the Wentzville Wal-Mart yesterday, and it was the only one on the shelf, along with one Black Dragon VTOL. I only bought the VAMP. The O’Fallon (Mo.) Wal-Mart does not carry ANY G.I. Joes, and at the Lake St. Louis Wal-Mart, where they DO carry G.I. Joes, there were no VAMPS or VTOLs there, as of yesterday.

    Got my Black Dragon and Vamp Yesterday and Found Wave 7(?) Stalker Wave at Walmart today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    My walmart had space for the vehicles, but weren’t out yet. I’m hoping they’ll be out when I get off of work tomorrow. Really hoping they will have the newest wave out too.

    Saw all the new figures at my Wal-Mart today. The Hazard Viper was cool, but he had too many reused accessories. Maybe sometime I’ll grab him.
