More SDCC Preview Night Pictures flood the ‘net…but a big name is among the missing

Without getting all alarmist, but as more and more images were flooding the ‘net last night from the SDCC Preview night, frequent GeneralsJoes visitor and big friend of the site kennywr22 noted on Twitter that Kwinn was conspicuously absent.

Kwinn, the figure that many of us have been waiting nearly 30 years for…the figure that was supposedly Derryl DePriest’s love letter to the Joe fans.  Just a mistake?  Or is something more to it?  We’ve got the word out, and Mysterious Stranger, who is representing GeneralsJoes in San Diego will be attempting to get the intel, as will the guys from A Real American Hero.Com will be trying to do what they can to figure it out as well.

Until we get more news about that, here are a bunch more image galleries that were posted in the wee hours of the night and morning (at least here in the Eastern Time Zone).  As always, I am mirroring a small segment of the pictures and encouraging everyone to go to the source for the full slate of images:

Big thanks as always to the folks from Fighting 118th, A Real American Hero.com, and Cool Toy Review for getting such great pictures and spreading the Joe love.  Hopefully we’ll get even more stuff going tonight.

I hope those Renegades figures really aren’t being released as late as the previous post suggests. The show’s going to be long gone by then!

The Renegades figures are pretty neat, especially Tunnel Rat. But that HISS redeco, that is something else entirely.

  • Geoff

Well, we can pretty much nail down the next Renegades wave: Scarlett, Storm Shadow, Ripcord, Tunnel Rat, Trooper, Law and Order. Assuming don’t pad that into two waves of four with reissues of Duke and Snake-Eyes (which they might – as it stands, it’s not a high-marquee-value wave).

As for Kwinn… you’ve got Sci-Fi, Lifeline, Airtight, and the Zombie Viper. That’s a wave right there, and they almost never issue odd numbers of figure in a wave – they haven’t since PoC started, at any rate.

That being said, Law and Order are positioned to be 30th anniversary figures rather than Renegades (on the left in the display case), so maybe there’s hope that it’ll be six figures each.

Renegades Tunnel Rat is the figure I want most, but there are quite a few things I’ll be buying at BBTS and asking my dad to ship to Pakistan for me…

Justin – just pointing out, Hasbro never puts all the figures out for preview night. Usually a few trickle out on Thursday, and some more on Friday. Don’t give up hope on Kwinn just yet.

I hear ya, Sam. Just figured with Kwinn being a figure already revealed at JoeCon, it seemed odd that they would hold him back here. But I’ll save the nerd rage for confirmation one way or the other. :)

Tuesday’s show will be fun if they give Kwinn the axe and keep the Zombie Viper. Hasbro can’t use the excuse that Kwinn does not have history in the line like they did with the Data Viper. If Kwinn gets sacrificed, there better be one hell of a better alternative put in his place.

Man Lifeline and Scifi look great! Renegades Duke has a really cool head sculpt.

  • Geoff

As for the individual figs, I’ve said it before, but Lifeline / Scifi / Airtight are three outstanding figures. And now Law and Order looks to be joining up with that – had we had confirmation of the second head before?

I love how the different accessories allow for a bit of army-building even with what are theoretically “unique” troopers. Get two Sci-Fis and put them with Flash and you’ve got a cute little laser trooper squad. Lifeline’s got the two helmets – so you can give Doc some paramedic assistance if necessary.

Plus, it’s always nice to have spare heads around. Wait, that sounded dirty….

Please say that Kwinn isn’t cut. He’s the only figure that I think is necessary :(

Look at goofy-ass Keel-Haul just steering his boat without a care in the world.

i wanna get a few of the zombies and the techno vipers.
