I’ve talked the Coil Con in a previous post, but considering it is a mere few days away, I thought it deserved another mention.
This weekend at Kokomo Toys in Kokomo, Indiana a gathering of regional G.I. Joe fans brings the fun to one of the largest toy retailers in the region. But the Coil Con is becoming much more than just a regional gathering this year as the folks behind the Coil Con unveil Sidewinder, the first ever Coil Con exclusive figure. They’ve revealed the first carded image of the great looking figure which you can see below.
Along with the exclusive figure, Kokomo Toys themselves reveal that they will have an allotment of the 30th Anniversary Skystriker for sale on Saturday morning!
Of course as I’ve already mentioned, there will also be a contest to “win ’em before you can buy ’em” SDCC Exclusive Zarana figures.
Whether your an ols school fan, a new fan, or just someone looking for some awesome and fun interaction with fellow Joe fans, you will want to be at Kokomo Toys this Saturday, July 23rd.
For full details as always, hit up CoilCon.com. Directions to the event can be found here.
A big thanks to BCYOJOE of HissTank.com for digging up this intel from the mammoth amount of SDCC events and appearances… apparently there will be a panel about costume design in Hollywood, and among the crew in that panel will be several folks involved with costume design for the G.I. Joe movie sequel.
Over on the ComicCon website, they announced the panel for Saturday July 23rd from 5:00pm – 6:00pm. Check out the full details below:
5:00-6:00 Costume Designers & Costume Illustrators— Meet the men and women who are the costume designers and costume illustrators on this year’s blockbuster films. Moderator Susan Nininger (member of Costume Designers Guild, Local 892; costume designer, The Bodyguard) talks to panelists and costume designers Julie Weiss (Twelve Monkeys, The Ring), Joseph Porro (Stargate, Ultra Violet), Wendy Chuck (Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, Twilight), and costume illustrators Christian Cordella (G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes, Captain America: The Last Avenger), Constantine Sekeres (G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes, Superman: Man of Steel, Thor, Green Lantern), Phillip Boutte (Superman: Man of Steel, Twilight Saga), and Brian Valenzuela (Super 8, Mission Impossible 4). Room 23ABC
This year there doesn’t appear to be much in the way of G.I. Joe at SDCC, but this is certainly something to keep an eye open for.
Leading up to San Diego Comic Con the folks at Sideshow Collectibles have released a great video going behind the scenes on their upcoming 12″ Rock n Roll and Zartan! The designers go into some of the great tributes that are prevelant throughout the figures (Rock n Roll sports a surfing T-Shirt underneath his uniform) and show some of the amazing detail throughout each figure.
Quite an impressive look at a pair of very impressive figures. Check out the embedded video below, or hit up Sideshow Collectibles themselves.
First of all, a big thanks to Outbakk from the Terror Drome for providing this link. This is a link to a Target product finder, which auto-fills the Skystriker DCPI. All you need to do is enter your zip code or city/state and it will search neighboring Target stores and let you know which ones have it in stock.
For the record, I’m 0 for 12. :/
Check it out right here, and please let me know if it works for you. It definitely generates a result for me, but I have no idea how accurate it is. For the record, the DCPI for the Skystriker is 087-06-1686.
