It’s been about a week since the slides for the Hasbro Archives round table were revealed, and the scar tissue over the gaping hole torn in my heart had started to form. Well, then it was discovered that the GIJoeCon.com website uploaded its own gallery of images from this event, and I’ll be damned if that scar didn’t rip right open again.
You see, there are a few slides we hadn’t seen.
Like artwork for a G.I. Joe: Resolute HyperJet with… Airborne and Ripcord. WAH.
Yes, the slide says “Ripcord and Wild Bill” but the artwork shows otherwise. Ripcord and Airborne are two of the Resolute characters I’m most bummed we didn’t get in action figure form, the fact that both of them crossed Hasbro’s mind long enough to do some concept art kills me.
Of course, pictures of the canceled G.I. Joe Howler with Payload are there, too, and equally heartbreaking. Why the hell do I do this to myself? I’m not going to mirror the images, just because I think everyone should check out GIJoeCon.com. One hop and you’ll be there. Awesome stuff.
I know thanks to JoeCon, most of the collector world is firmly focused on August for the potential debut of the incredible looking 30th Anniversary and G.I. Joe: Renegades figures, but truth be told, we have two pretty neat waves dropping in before then!
With a fairly vague “April, 2011” release date, Wave 5 has now started showing up in Asia, which means release is coming shortly. Very shortly. In fact, at JoeCon, Hasbro specifically said sometime “after April 18th”.
While the auctions themselves have all been bought through, you can check out all the details on HissTank.com.
Note – And yes, I realize that truth be told, this is actually “Wave 3” in more traditional wave markings. But most collectors recognize this as Wave 5, so that’s how I’m labeling to avoid confusion. Technically, though, this is the 3rd wave of 2011 figures.
As the 2011 Canadian JoeCon draws near, the folks behind it have started uploading some highlights from past years, including the full 45 minute Q & A session with Real American Hero legend Larry Hama!
I’m away from the DVR for the week, so I’ll be unable to capture and upload the latest G.I. Joe: Renegades promo which is for Episode 16: Shipwrecked! The episode airs Saturday, April 16th at 7:30pm Eastern and will mark the beginning of new episodes for G.I. Joe: Renegades for at least 4 weeks by the looks of things.
On the one hand, I’m thrilled to see new Renegades. On the other hand, bummer because that will be all the fewer episodes left to enjoy in this series fantastic and altogether too short life.
Kenny is picking up the reigns with my lack of uploading, though, and snagged some images from the promo that aired yesterday on The Hub. According to Kenny, the Joes are tracking a new “Techno-Viper” who appears to be a freaky looking new Bio-Viper with insect legs and lots of crazy eyes. He’s also got some pics of that below, thanks to his post on HissTank.com:
I will be back in town Friday night, so I should be able to get the promo uploaded then, and will certainly be jumping right on the Episode Review itself on Saturday night as normal. Can’t wait to see new G.I. Joe: Renegades!
Hey, GeneralsJoes readers… I’m dropping this update in from a hotel room in Kansas City as I begin a week long conference for my full time “real life” job. Yes, another real life obligation that keeps getting in the way of my pretend life. Dammit.
The point of this post is just to let folks know that I haven’t dropped off the face of the Earth. I know updates have been sparse over the past few days as I prepared for the trip and flew most of the day yesterday. I do anticipate having some time here and there to post updates and such.
If anyone out there cares about my non G.I. Joe related experiences, feel free to follow me on Twitter. I am posting stuff there as I experience my first time in Kansas City. So far not much Joe stuff to talk about, but if you have GeneralsJoes withdrawls (Lord knows why would you?) you can always hit up the Twitter feed. My adventures today will include taking a bus across town to shop with three 50-year old ladies who are on the trip with me as we wait for the actual convention to start. Help me Tweets, you’re my only hope!
Thanks for sticking with me, I’ll try and do some catch up posts here and there throughout the week when I’m not at my thrilling electronic medical records software production weeklong conference. It’s almost as cool as JoeCon, right?
