G.I. Joe: Renegades Tactics game at Hubworld.com now works! Kinda.

When the G.I. Joe: Renegades Tactics game was unveiled at Hubworld.com, I was ecstatic.  For some reason, I’m a big fan of tactical games.  I’ve always loved the Command and Conquer, Starcraft, and Final Fantasy Tactics games, and while Renegades was extremely simplified, it was still a hell of a lot of fun.

Then you got to Level 5, the damn game crashed, and it became considerably less fun.

Well, as the weeks have gone on, I’ve given up trying the game every other day as I had been, and low and behold, Kenny drops me a line to tell me that the game is now working!  You can successfully proceed beyond Level 5.  Great news!

Yes, great news.  But only sort of great news.  Because now even though it makes it past Level 5…well, let’s just say it’s not guaranteed to make it all the way to the end.  Without going into too much detail, I’ve been playing Tactics off and on for the bulk of the day, going to great pains to make sure my session was saved between work and home so I could play some more at home, and finally, after beating Destro and approaching what I figure is probably one of the last levels, I got a dreaded purple loading screen… and nothing.

So, it ain’t perfect.  But it’s still pretty damn fun…  and we’ve got some new character designs!  Both Zartan and Destro appear in the game, and while Destro is pretty much the same guy we (kind of) saw in the animated series, Zartan looks just a bit different.  Obviously based on the same uniform, but in the game he’s sleeker, more stylish, and really, REALLY cool looking.

I took a metric ton of screen captures as I was playing, and am mirroring them below for your perusal, though beware of spoilers…  if you want to try your luck at the game, give it a shot right here.  Maybe you’ll do better than I did!

G.I. Joe: Renegades fate to be revealed March 24th?

Thanks to Kenny for directing me to a great site on kid’s animation, NickandMore.com which has its finger on the pulse of all these kid’s channels, including, of course, The Hub.

They are reporting that beginning on March 24th, The Hub will be holding the first of three “Upfronts” which are press conferences with advertisers and media, and at one of these upfronts, The Hub is expected to announce which new shows they’re adding, and which existing shows are getting renewed for a second season.

We already know Transformers: Prime is coming back, due to the long lead time necessary for CGI based animated series, but Renegades’ fate is still up in the air.  The upfronts are the 24th, the 29th, and the 31st, and it was unclear from the article if the information would be the same at all three, or if some other details could be revealed along the way.

Suffice it to say, by the end of the month we should know one way or another if G.I. Joe: Renegades returns for Season 2.  Let’s see if anyone can guess my preference.

Canadian JoeCon Exclusive figures revealed?!?

What’s all this then?

Normally we’re used to seeing the Canadian JoeCon folks control the release of information…but not this time!  Apparently the Candian JoeCon had a booth at WizardWorld Toronto, and showcased some of the prototype figures for their upcoming Canadian JoeCon Exclusive figure set!  Woah!

Check out the thread on the JoeCanuck forums right here, and take a peek at the mirrored images below.  Some of the figures are obviously Canuckleheads, while others are mysterious agents of Cobra North.  I wonder who…

I love the fact that a couple of Canuckleheads are there…hopefully there are even more in the set!
