Brian Goldner talks the G.I. Joe Sequel

Some news has been leaking here and there a bit about the upcoming G.I. Joe Sequel, and Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner talked to MTV News about what to expect.  For folks who weren’t big fans of the original some good news to come out of the discussions…while there will be a “tip of the cap” to the original film, Goldner expects the sequel to pretty much stand on its own.  Not necessarily the “reboot” some were hoping for, but it certainly sounds like they’re looking at what didn’t work in the first film and making some changes.  Check out the full quotes from Goldner below:

“”There is a really great idea in the second ‘G.I. Joe,’” he said. “In many ways, it’ll be great for the people who saw the first one, but you don’t need to have studied every element of the first one to enjoy the second. We’ve made sure that that’s the case.”

He continues on…

“”Obviously, we know coming out of the first film that the president is an impostor,” Goldner explained. “You might begin with the knowledge of having your president as an impostor. What would that mean? From that, you can tell a very big story without only having to rely on the chronology of the first film.”

Check it out right here.

Why would I want to see a popcorn movie of the last decade of our history?? I lived through it, once was enough, thanks very much!

i hope they keep (if not ramp up) the level of violence.

heads blowing up, a “running thru”, a decapitation!

much better than parachutes and charred faces.

I rather liked the bait and switch Zartan as the President element of the Rise of Cobra.
