GeneralsJoes reviews Rise of Cobra Desert Rockslide w/ Dusty!

The July “Review-A-Rama” continues!  You didn’t think G.I. Joe: Origins #17 was the only review I was going to do today, did you?  ;)

I covered the Rise of Cobra Lavapod yesterday, and today I bring you a review for the Desert Rockslide w/ Dusty!  I was not a huge fan of the Rockslide in Wave 1, but for some reason I am really liking this set a lot more than I thought I would.  I’m not a big desert environment fan, I’m not a big Rockslide fan, yet I find some appeal in this one.  Maybe it’s just in comparison with the Lavapod…  whatever the reason, check out all of my thoughts right here!

  1. Hey Justin! You forgot to mention that this version of Dusty DOES come with his webgear; i’m one of the unlucky guys that bought the early release of the dvd pack, thus my Dusty doesn’t have the web gear, darn it; that was the main reason i wanted this vehicle.

  2. About the Rockslide: I just picked up the first version of this on the Target Clearance, and I have to say the vehicle has some merit. The cockpit is really pretty great, the adjustable treads are a nice feature, and the synced skis are well done. My only problem with it is the lackluster paint job. Also, that they made this a desert vehicle is silly, but a Dreadnok swamp-vehicle? Now we’re talking.

Finally, I recently saw a custom of one of these on Joe Customs that absolutely rocks. The Rockslide has untapped potential, and it’s too bad it was treated so poorly three times.

  3. It’s too bad that rear section is just wasted space. I could see a gun or rocket launcher mounted on the back and a pair of rear-facing guns mounted on the sides with a seat facing opposite the driver for a rear-gunner station. At the very least it could’ve opened up for accessory stowage.

sounds like someone needs some PoC badly.

  5. From the beginning I couldn’t believe they were repainting a snowmobile for desert operations. That seemed about as logical as repainting the Mauler for aquatic operations. Then I did a Google search and saw that some people actually modify and drive snowmobiles on sand, calling them “dirt sleds” or “sandmobiles”. However, all the ones I saw had replaced the front skiis with sand tires. So I still don’t think the Desert Rockslide is a viable vehicle.
