Five Page Preview for G.I. Joe #15 – Another one bites the dust!

First of all…  Spoilers Ahoy!  A G.I. Joe gets fragged in the first five pages of G.I. Joe #15…  to maintain a level of spoiler protection, I’ll post the preview and my thoughts after the jump.

Poor Bazooka.  Apparently Resolute started a trend…poor guy can’t catch a break.  I’ll admit, I kinda cocked my head at the whole G.I. Joe vs. Cobra Dudes in Animal Masks sequence last issue, but that little tidbit with the Cobra Vipers on the title page looks pretty sweet.

Thanks to the Terror Drome for the heads up!

I always hate to see a Joe die… aw well.

  • black

Is the purpose of these issues to tell the origins of cobra and the joe team or has that been/currently being established in previous/ongoing issues?

I ask because if were looking at the beginning then how can Bazooka die, did he even meet alpine yet?

  • pluv

They killed Bazooka. You bastards! Wouldn’t it be funny if Bazzooka became Kenny and he got killed off in every comic title, movie, and cartoon.

“Wouldn’t it be funny if Bazzooka became Kenny and he got killed off in every comic title, movie, and cartoon.”

That cracked me up! Too funny Pluv!

Bazooka has been a pretty terrible character in most incarnations. I’m not really sad to see him bite it, again.

Also, I’m for anything that is likely to get fanboys screaming.

  • m6d

You want to see fanboys scream? Start a discussion of the end of the Marvel series for the wackiness it was and then take the side that anything that doesn’t follow that to a “T” in the 155 1/2 issue isn’t a true continuation of the Marvel series. Makes for some good humor. :)

That sounds like an excellent plan, m6d.

And honestly, the end of the Marvel run (maybe not issue 155 itself, but most of the 30 issues preceding it) was pretty terrible.

Didn’t Clutch and Rock n’Roll accidentally go into space, then re-enter in a tarp covered ‘mobile battle bunker’ somewhere in that nonsense? Hell that might’ve been even earlier.

The real death knells were Eco Force and Ninja Force.

I don’t mind Joes dying, it happens. Bazooka should not’ve been called up for this mission to begin with. I figured he would inadvertantly become useful or die. This is following a lot trends fanboys had issues with the last time. I really don’t see the point of bringing up a known name to simply knock him out. Kill them if it makes sense, not shock value.

    LBAM-

That was actually #110 right after the SAW Viper killed a bunch of Joes.

Sigh…awesome file card, followed by: a moronic portrayal in Sunbow (because they didn’t understand the “illiterate farmer” would have been NVA/Viet Cong); ONE decent issue of Marvel (which actually spotlighted Airtight and Mindbender more); terrible Safari outfit for V3; middle-age, over-weight schlub in Devil’s Due; the killed off ignominiously in Resolute; and KIA in IDW. Poor guy; I ACTUALLY like the character.

  • mizak23

yeah I’m a huge bazooka fan, which makes it difficult to enjoy something like the main IDW line, which so far has been hit and mostly miss to me anyways. They seemed fine making up joes as cannon fodder, why not now.

If the movie had looked as good as the comic, with a tighter story I think it would have been performed a great deal better.

The new comic costumes just scream “RESOLUTE” to this tired Joe fan.
