Triple Play of TRU reviews posted at TerrorDrome.com

The TRU Exclusives are indeed hitting hot and heavy over the past few weeks, and the Terror Drome is staying right on top of it, with three reviews posted for Arctic Threat Doc, Arctic Threat Shipwreck, and the Sting Raider w/ Copperhead and Swamp-Viper.  I will be posting my own review (courtesy of Mysterious Stranger) later today of the Sting Raider, but here are some mirrored images for the excellent reviews I linked above.

im sure it was a case of it being too late to change, but i find it funny how the “Pursuit of Cobra” is mentioned on the cardbacks of Doc and Hector, yet weve still (allegedly) three quarters of a year to wait for the line.

guess we’ll see whats what at toyfair.

I love the Doc and Shipwreck figures, but there is just zero excuse for the colors on that Sting Raider. Ugh.

The colors on the Sting Raider are really not that bad. I wasn’t too sure when I first saw it, but now that I have it in hand, I really like it. Almost like it more than the original turquoise color.

i dont understand the big deal with these repaints. why can they just give use a new fig of Doc and Shipwreck? Shipwreck i might be more understanding because he has had a few figs released, but come on DOC? in the 25th line all we got was a mail-away.

as for the colors, its day-glow paint apps like that, that killed gi joe ARAH in the ’90

“Sting Raider” really? “water moccasin” was taken? it really bugs me that the “swamp-viper” is really the firebat pilot, at least they could have done was give us the lamprey. at least it would have been a naval trooper and not a pilot.

anyways this is why i still have not spent a dime on any RoC stuff.

The only one of the three of these I want is Doc, but I had to lol; They reused Firefly’s sabotage kit as his “Aid Kit”, and it’s still got the time bomb in it.

I dunno man. I am not a fan of any of the 3. I mean, Shipwrecks best feature is his gear. Doc is blinding, and I have never been a fan of the toy boats. I am too old to play with my Joes’ in the bath, and I do not want to dry dock it, whats the point I suppose I could get a blue table cloth… :P

The only things about each of these is that they all have some achillies heel element to kill the instant purchase impulse.
    1. Arctic Shipwreck: while a neat concept, it’s not truly a win with the tropical bird and what is my sailor going to do that another multi-trooper from the Joe Team couldn’t do better? i.e. Will only buy on sale… perhaps.
    2. Arctic Doc: great, we really did need a retail medic, but who did his wardrobe? He’s visible, no doubt, but any who spot him will be violently sick. If that doesn’t finish them off, then he can always fix them up with plastic explosives from the Firefly gear.
    3. Water Moccasin returns! Great vehicle, and decent colors, but the Swamp AVAC/Viper-whatever Trooper just needs to get traded away. If I were to go out and get all of these today, then I’d have to draft it for arctic-sled duty given the Joes from this round are up in the snow… or are they out in the jungle with too much uniform?

In all, there is a lot that does not make sense with this assortment unless you plan all your purchases. And who does that?
