In preparation for the upcoming Resolute 7-Packs – What Resolute toys didn’t we get?

I’ve seen a few folks ask in the comments section for yesterday’s Resolute boxed set news which figures were the Resolute themed figures that we didn’t get, and wondering what we should expect in the boxed sets to come in 2010.  This is what I’ve cobbled together so far:

Resolute styled figures we didn’t get

  1. Baroness
  2. Destro
  3. Roadblock
  4. Scarlett
  5. Storm Shadow

These would have mostly come in single packs from what I can gather, in various waves from Wave 14 – 15 or 16.

Resolute Marketed figures we didn’t get

  • Arctic COBRA Commander (Comic Pack)
  • Arctic Scarlett (Comic Pack)
  • Training Snake Eyes (Comic Pack)
  • Scuba Duke (Comic Pack – but rehashed as Wet Suit)
  • Crimson Trooper (Comic Pack)
  • Iron Klaw Trooper (Comic Pack)

I think that about covers it.  But keep in mind, I honestly don’t believe we’ll get the above figures in any sort of Resolute boxed set.  I think Hasbro will focus on the figures that really resemble the Resolute “look”, and will also give us some nice “Franken Joes” that use existing tooling, but are mixed and matched to get us some Resolute styled stuff in the boxed sets.

If they made the following packs, I would be on Cloud 9:

G.I. Joe 7-Pack

  1. Roadblock
  2. Scarlett
  3. Flint
  4. Beachhead
  5. Shipwreck
  6. Stalker (sort of wishful thinking, not sure we’d get a new head out of this)
  7. Ripcord

COBRA 7-Pack

  1. Destro
  2. Baroness
  3. Storm Shadow
  4. Zartan
  5. Firefly
  6. Alley-Viper
  7. Arctic  Cobra Commander

Honestly, I think a lot of these are possible.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Joe lineup like it is above, depending on what new tooling they’re willing to invest in.  The above is pretty much a perfect scenario for me, but honestly, I think it is possible.  Whatever we get, I’m certain we’ll see Roadblock, Scarlett, Destro, Baroness, and Storm Shadow, and all five of those figures are fantastic, so no matter what, this is gonna be a winner.

    Mysterious Stranger said:
“reissues of previously released Resolute figures.”

I hope that Your list will come true. But I’m afraid, we’re goin’ to see SE City Strike, Gung Ho and Tunnel Rat from the Wal Mart 2packs. But it’s just my guess.

  • Carlos

DOC would be an easy repaint. Plus gives them a way to re-release him.

Your GIJOE list looks pretty ambitious to me, Justin.
I would love to get half those figures so Im good and happy with what we get 7 fig wise.

  • Taylor

The Joe pack is wishfull thinking, it’s probably gonna be another Snake Eyes, and 4 other dudes we already have
Maybe flint would show up, I’d like that

Stalker from the Rise of Cobra PSP video game has similar hair to that of Resolute… so it’s very possible for Hasbro to make the sculpt for both a Resolute and RoC style Stalker figure.

    Fingers crossed!

I think Stalker & BeachHead are probably unlikely… Doc & Tunnel Rat are more likely.
Your Cobra set is right on the mark though.

  • notpicard

I agree about Stalker. He is one I would like to see come out as a RoC figure to make room in the 7-pack for another character. But if he doesn’t hit RoC, I definitely want one.

  • Stryker

I thought you weren’t fond of the reso Baroness Justin.

  • http://admin Justin

No, I’m not real fond of the Baroness, but for completist sake, I’d still like to see her released in her normal Resolute form.

I definitely agree that this list isn’t really likely, but I still think it’s possible. Did everyone already forget about the last time Hasbro produced 2 7-packs specifically for the collector crowd? Those two COBRA Island 7-Packs did a terrific job with common tooling as well as new tooling, and managed to cover a TON of characters that collectors had been clamoring for.

Why does everyone think these Resolute 7-packs are going to be so different?

Is anyone really wanting another version of all the characters so frequently shoved into sets over and over again? Especially since between Rise and Pursuit of COBRA has/is providing nearly all of those basic figures and accessories anyhow?

Honestly, is there that much demand for another Flint, Duke, COBRA Commander, Destro, Baroness, Snake Eyes, Shipwreck, Storm Shadow, Scarlett and Firefly?

What I like about G.I. Joe has always been about character development, not alternate time-line lives of the same dozen or so characters. I’d like to see some of them take a leave of absence and let some different specialists take the reins for a while.

  • Jay

I would personally much rather see the Iron Klaw figure come out in that Cobra pack than another Zartan or Firefly.

And with Beachhead getting a ROC figure, I’ve got doubts he’d be thrown into the Resolute set as well (did he even have a redesign? So many characters barely had cameos I’m having problems remembering who was where).
I could see Tunnel Rat show up, however. Use his original head, the “original 13″ torso, Duke’s arms (elbow pads, after all), some nice legs (they’re never really shown) and the first Snake-Eyes’s grenade strap/belt piece, and you’ve got yourself a fine Resolute-style Tunnel Rat. And just for bonus points… paint him full eyes this time.

count me as one who really wants the IRON KLAW more than anything else

  • http://www.johio.com dragongravy

the joe pack will most likely be:

    duke
    snake eyes
    scarlett
    roadblock
    gungho

those for sure will be in the joe pack with probably flint shipwreck doc or bazooka thrown in.

the cobra pack will likely be:
    cobra commander
    baronness
    destro
    resolute trooper
    resolute officer
    storm shadpw
    maybe zartan
    maybe firefly
    maybe alley viper

  • notpicard

I want Iron Klaw, but not in this set. Make him single carded or wait and do an Extreme 7-pack. :)

  • m6d

    It’d be nice to get at least one character that we have yet to get since the 25th style launched. I’m tired of Duke… Duke… Duke… SE… SE… SE… SS… SS… SS… CC… CC… CC…

  • Jay

    m6d:
    Well… if Hasbro’s feeling daring…

I’m sure they can redeco that “Training Snake-Eyes” figure into Budo with ease. :P

And if they feel even daring-ier, they could use the Iron Klaw tooling, but in red, to make a Resolute Crimson Guard reminiscent of the 12″ one from 2003.

  • hbk1983jz

    I agree with dragongravy.

    duke
    snake eyes
    scarlett
    roadblock
    gungho

Maybe FLINT.BEACHHEAD.DOC.WILDBILL.TRANSGENDER DIALTONE will be included. I doubt Shipwreck and Bazooka will be in.
    Tunnel Rat,Stalker,Ripcord,Cover girl,Spirit,Airborne,Lady Jaye,Rock n Roll will be a surprise if included.

the cobra pack will likely be:
    cobra commander
    baronness
    destro
    resolute trooper
    resolute officer
    storm shadow
    maybe zartan
    maybe firefly
    maybe alley viper

This is so true for the cobra….

  • psyche-out

an extreme seven pack would be incredible! Alas, one can only dream.

  • http://www.johio.com dragongravy

lmao transgendered dial tone….must be part of the military’s dont ask dont tell policy.

i forgot about dial tone that is a good possibility too. the only reason i mention bazooka, is because big h wouldnt have to have any special tooling to make him straight up repaint. spirit is a good possibility too.
