The most wonderful time of the year

posted in Patriots, Sports |

Are you ready for some football???

In case you didn’t know, I’m just a bit of a football fan…and I’m a HUGE Patriots fan.  Yeah, yeah, I know…  “cheaters”…  “pretty boy Quarterback”… “dickhead coach”.  I’ve heard ‘em all.  None of that matters, football season starts NOW.  And tonight I’m the biggest Redskins fan in the world.  :shifty:

Go ahead and rub my nose in the Super Bowl last year, Mike…  I don’t care, because everyone’s record is back to 0-0 with no BS “undefeated” talk, no BS “touchdown records” talk…  just football.  Bring it on!

Well since I am a Redskins Fan. G-men are going down tonight! Hopefully Jim Zorn has no idea has pitiful our last performances have been in New York. A new Era has begun!

Yeesh, sorry, man, that wasn’t pretty… the Giants looked dominating to start off the game, but lost a bit of luster in the second half. Still pulled off an impressive first week win, though. Poor Jason Campbell made some beautiful passes at the end, desperately trying to make something happen, but those receivers just couldn’t pull the ball in. Man.

All the mainstream media has done this offseason is put the chip that the Giants’ collective shoulder that they need to contend again. I’ve never, ever seen a defending Super Bowl Champion get less respect going in to a season than the Giants. Some “experts” aren’t even picking them to make the playoffs.

Credit the Redskins’ defense for showing some pride in the second half, but the Giants have a formula that’s tough to stop… they pound the football at you on the ground with a slew of different tailbacks, and get pressure on the quarterback with their front four alone, which lets the back seven on the defense swarm to the football.

If there’s one Achilles’ heel on this team, it’s that Osi Umenyiora’s injury was the biggest of the season so far, and they can’t afford another serious injury on the front of the defense.

I like this idea of everyone having the same record to start off the season. Makes the Bills tied for the division lead.

As for that game last night, the Giants looked unstoppable the first few drives. I expect big things from Jay Alford. With Umenyiora out and some other guy getting hurt last night, someone is going to have to step up and make some plays. I think Alford will get more playing time now and have a possibility of being that guy.

I’m glad the season has started, it’s gonna be a good one.
