Episode Twelve is up! I know it’s been a while, and I appreciate everyone’s patience. Unfortunately the content of the chapter itself doesn’t seem to warrant such a long lead time, as it’s mostly just talking heads, but it leads into a couple of interesting twists, so hopefully in the long run this will find it’s place.
Expect an Epilogue in 2-3 weeks that will be a bit “splashier” than this last installment of Ghosts, and I think once Darkness Falls cranks up (whenever that might be…it’s going to be a long process) everything will be worth the wait.
Thanks again! Let me know any feedback as always.
Hi – Here is a big update from http://www.bigbadtoystore.com about a
variety of new arrivals and a ton of great new preorders from Hasbro and
other companies. The Preorder list is extensive – many exciting new
Just wanted to give folks an update. Now that I have the new camera, I’ve wrapped up shooting for the final installment of Ghosts (Episode 12). I do want to warn folks, though, that it’s pretty much a “bridge” episode from Ghosts to Darkness Falls, and there isn’t a whole lot of action in it. There will be an epilogue posted in a couple of weeks that has a bit more “flash” to it, but just didn’t want folks to be let down when this gets posted this weekend.
I’m also considering if there’s anything I should do between Ghosts and Darkness Falls. DF is a BIG story…it’s sort of the culmination of my dio-story career, so it is going to take a looooong time to produce it. So if anyone has any ideas, let me know. Just keep in mind, any time I devote to an “in between” story will take time away from DF itself.
Thanks to everyone for their patience. I’ve got a neat surprise in mind for the production of Darkness Falls that I’m hoping people will enjoy.
So you’re all set to produce your first Dio-Story. Congrats! But having the script, having the software, and knowing how to make the Speech Bubbles is only a small part of the story. The next small step is knowing where to go for all of those funky fonts, customized word balloons, or stock images that you might need to move forward.
You know, I was considering skipping this one entirely, just to tick off Mike, but I know a lot of people have been wondering about this, so I figure in spite of my desire to tweak him, I’d help other folks out.
I’m going to cover a few different ways to produce the desired speech balloons, using a few easier ways to do it first, and then finishing off with my own personal way. Some of these methods require specific software, though some of it is easily attainable. To demonstrate the Speech Bubble Creation methods, I’m going to use an image that I am planning on putting into a review coming up shortly. I’ll try each method and let you determine which one works best.
If I had the time and energy for such things, I’d go back over all the G.I. Joe message boards for the last year and a half, just to see how many fans clamored for the release of a red-emblemed COBRA Trooper, and then compare that to the number of supposed “fans” that are screaming bloody murder about how they’re being released now.
Are you guys kidding me? Hasbro gives you exactly what you say you want, and you complain anyway?
Crazy. Well, that’s the kind term for it, anyway.
Look, I want to see the likes of Airtight, Recondo, Footloose, Dr. Mindbender, Ripcord and the like in the 25th Anniversary line as much as the next guy, but don’t you think that the Big H deserves a little slack on this one? Every fourth wave is a repaint wave, and they’re putting out what’s probably been the most asked-for repaint in it. I can see getting upset about the neon-green Ninja Viper, or the far-too-faithful recreation of the Python Patrol Crimson Guardsman, but the Trooper? Really?
Looks like a win on the surface. I suppose that’s just me.
When I did the poll for the Making of a Dio-Story subjects, the scripting/storyboarding won out, but it just barely nicked this topic… “Recommended Software”. I get this question a LOT. What do you use? How do you use it? Where can I get it? It’s not all as easy as a one sentance answer, but I’ll give it my best shot, anyway.
Ask any intelligent Patriots fan what their biggest fear was at the beginning of the season, I would think everyone would respond with “the defense”. The last two weeks pushed those fears aside a bit, but let’s consider the teams we played against.
As I look back through some posts I’ve made here, I come across the realization that if you just read this blog, you might thinkthat I hate the Anniversary figures! Oye…how did that happen?
Like a lot of other folks, I’ve gotten a bit tired of the endless repaints and re-releases, and am getting somewhat stumped as to why we haven’t at least seen some sign of Recondo, Ripcord, Dr. Mindbender, Wet Suit and a handful of other characters that would be easy to do with exisiting parts and seem like no-brainers. But when it comes to the Anniversary stuff I can certainly appreciate the quality of the toys themselves, and I am greatly looking forward to the upcoming Wave 7 single packs.
